How do you know what a difference maker is until he or she hit the Floor, Field, Diamond or Tennis Court for your program, not there previous program..i.e High School, College or JUCO. Even if you get a 4-5 🌟 . They are only difference makers on paper ,until they prove that they deserve that label. I'm for letting Coach Ross do his thing but I'm hoping that he brings in some/a few more Bigmen . Hell for me the only Difference Maker we lost (if you call it that 😆) was Love Bettis coming of the bench . Other then that we had no difference makers. Now if we where playing in a Rec Ball League or Horse , Hell we had a number of difference makers 😆🤣😂 you and i have a difference in opinion regarding basketball talent. again, i clearly stated that " i don't think" (not what anybody else thinks) we've signed enough talent to compensate for what we've loss thru the portal. that's my opinion. "to my knowledge", no one that we've signed so far since coach ross took over is "more talented" than any of our former "big 3" (woods, watson, powell), at least not on film that i've seen. it remains to be seen if my "opinion" is incorrect, but i don't think it is. if you think otherwise, then that's your opinion and i sure as hail would like to know who da hail you think coach ross has signed that is as "physically talented" or better than any of our former "big 3". mind you, physical talent has nothing to do with "ball hogging" that both woods and watson exhibited... OSA said "think" saabman said "know" saabman went to far. Word Police in da house.

Evan Joyner Earns All-Conference and All-Region HonorsPRESCOTT, Ariz. – Freshman forward Evan Joyner of the Yavapai College men's basketball team is taking home some hardware after the completion of the 2022-23 regular season. The freshman from Greensboro, North Carolina, has earned Third-Team All-Conference and Second-Team All-Region honors the ACCAC announced Thursday morning. In the program's first year back in over a decade, Joyner played in all 30 games, starting 29 of them, and led the Roughriders in scoring with 432 points (a mark that places him 14th in the conference), rebounds with 197 (ninth in the conference) and steals with 36 (26th in the conference). In addition, he also posted 24 blocks (10th in the conference) and 85 assists (16th in the conference). During the season, Joyner also accumulated four double-doubles and tallied a double-digit point total in 26 of his 30 games played. Joyner's game high for points was 26, a feat that he captured on two occasions: January 7 and February 11 with both contests coming against Scottsdale. goroughriders.com/news/2023/3/2/mens-basketball-evan-joyner-earns-all-conference-and-all-region-honors.aspx

Originally committed to Tennessee State in 2020 as a HS senior but opted to follow his Dad, former N.C. A&T coach Jay Joyner, when he took over as head coach at Yavapai JC. The elder Joyner turned in his resignation there at the end of March.

Yes I said "know" and I definitely didn't "go to far" . OSA said "Difference Makers" sighting "The Big Three" as he called them . Physically talented with all three being "difference makers" they were not. In my opinion A Difference Maker is an individual that can lead and play controlled with a knowledgeable basketball IQ within a system that makes the players around him perform and execute better on the floor. Because you have physical gifts that does not make you a Difference Maker. The Difference Maker is usually the player that can lead and control the environment and execution on the court for his team . A good example Kam langley, not the most physically gifted. Who fine tune his physical skills to fit his talents as a facilitator and leader on both ends of the floor . We all saw that when TV benched him . What we lost to the portal as far as physical Talent I can agree to a point but to label them difference makers I cannot agree with not even to a point. Big three differences makers that sounds crazy in my opinion. Definition of Difference Maker "To be a difference-maker is to pursue excellence in yourself and your craft while cultivating the same in others. Developing your potential and delivering on your promise by engaging in meaningful efforts done with and for others"

I see that his Dad is very proud!

Our commitments include 1 from Bmore, 2 from GA, 2 from Gboro and 2 from Winston.
I’m not confident, I have a feeling he is giving offers based on personal relationships not the best player available.

I’m not confident, I have a feeling he is giving offers based on personal relationships not the best player available. Too early to make that assessment with three of those seven commits filling vacant walk-on roles. There are three more full scholarship spots left to fill in the coming days. Besides most college revenue scholarship signings with mid-majors, regardless of the sport, has everything to do with relationships that have been built between programs and the prospect over a number of weeks and months. Sometime years. The first visceral reaction of most of us fans is to base a new coach's first signings more on the "splash factor" rather than on foundational team building but that's completely understandable given the present-day environment of college athletics that seems to demand instantaneous success.

Jay Joyner needs to stay far away from coaching as he can. Two schools he left on a “personnel matter” abruptly .. there is probably a there there. Let’s hope his son doesn’t have “personnel matter” issues, and able to help us stay competitive while we rebuild the program in this coaches image.

How do you suspend & fire the dad ... and then turn around and recruit his son?
That has to be an weird conversation at the family dinner table.

I don’t see any reason why not? He no longer has ties to the university…he is no different than any other parent or fan.
