Interesting article below (I am not advocating for this idea). Big time college football is becoming more and more like NFL football when it comes to the business of this collegiate sport. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Thursday April 14, 2011 WVU could make $1.2 million on football game beer sales by The Associated Press The Associated Press MORGANTOWN, W.Va. -- West Virginia University athletic director Oliver Luck says beer sales at football games could generate $500,000 to $1.2 million in revenue, but making money isn't his main concern. my commentary: yea right! Luck said Thursday his goal is to create a more civil, family-friendly atmosphere at Mountaineer Field by taking more control over the drinking that goes on. The Board of Governors is taking comments about Luck's plan to have the stadium concessionaire, Sodexo, sell beer inside the stadium. Luck also plans to stop letting fans leave games and re-enter later, with an eye to curbing halftime binge drinking. He says all of WVU's Big East counterparts are already selling beer in some capacity without any problems. Louisville even sells hard liquor.Few stadiums -- and none in the Big East -- allow re-entry.

Just to give some of you new guys additional perspective on this topic, here is an interview I had with Phillip McAlpin a few years ago: www.bluedeathvalley.com/exintv_philmcalpin_11_10_07.htmlGranted, this interview took place back in 2007 and some of the administrative policies may have changed.

McAlpin really does not impress me AT ALL!!! I am an active contributor like many on here but I've got to call it like I see it. He talks a good game but he has not produced what his mouth says. The SAD part is he gets paid for it!!!!

In the word of Alabama State Representative Alvin Holmes..."Whats wrong with the beer we got! It drank pretty good dont it?" OK, that was the last time

This was a good Read 'Thrilla...
I wonder if the reason the Altel signage is still up is because their multi-year contract has not expired... IMO, i say sign a deal to switch it to a Verizon advertisement either with the same expiration date as the Altel contract (at no charge to VZN) or a new contract covering whats left on the Altel deal, and years added on to that, at a prorated rate...
granted we don't make that much on the deal, but at least we have a filled panel, and we save the embarrassment of advertizing a defunct company on our scoreboard
Heck these companies are headquartered in Greensboro, they would be prime targets:
Honda Aircraft Company Kayser-Roth VF Syngenta Crop Protection Mack Trucks Volvo Trucks of North America RF Micro Devices the International Textile Group
NewBridge Bank They got the naming rights to the Downtown Grasshoppers Stadium... The Fresh Market Cook Out Ham's Biscuitville Tripps Gilbarco Veeder-Root Daimler Buses Columbia Forest Products Tanger Factory Outlet Centers Inc. (Stanley Tanger is a Greensboro Resident, and there are 3 of his outlets in NC alone...one is right up the road in Burlington)
Then of course major employers in G-boro such as:
Moses Cone Health System City of Greensboro High Point Regional Health System Bank of America American Express Tyco Electronics

^^^ I am very surprised to know that Moses Cone Health Systems is not a major sponsor for Aggie Athletics.
Also, whatever company that A&T pays its athletic insurance premiums to should be a major sponsor.

It appears somebody in Dowdy has been reading this message board. Yesterday, I passed by campus and noticed that some work was being done on the scoreboard: . Later that evening I discovered that all the old panels had been covered up. Obviously, the embarrassment caused by this thread was too much for Martin to ignore and he instructed his folks to fix this issue ASAP. That is a good start. Now Martin needs to create a plan that will get the panels re-filled with new and legitimate corporate sponsors.

ISP in Winston. Hire them and pay them the peoples salaries who are in place now. Easy fix IMG College (formerly ISP) won't cut it for that little bit of money, dude. FAMU Athletics is paying IMG College $250,000 to market only three (3) of their football games!! It includes a salaried person located on-campus. What you are talking about for A&T to do will cost about $550,000 per year. So your fussing about paying 550K to a company to bring in money, but you are all for increasing our football coach's salary by 100% to get more wins. What happened to you get what your paying for .......

However, the president ( Dr. James Ammons) made this particular deal himself...so "it is what it is."

But can A&T really net anything close to that?? FAMU can't do it, I will tell you that.
