11. Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference The good - The MEAC has a clear lead over its SWAC brethren, including North Carolina A&T's win in the inaugural Celebration Bowl. A&T comes back strong, as does rival North Carolina Central. Bethune-Cookman, which has won at least a share of five of the last six titles, and South Carolina State always figure to be there in the end as well. The bad and the ugly - The MEAC also had four one-win teams a year ago: Delaware State, Howard, Florida A&M and Savannah State. more about this article

Big South Conference
The bad and the ugly - With Coastal Carolina departed for its transition toward the FBS, the conference has taken a huge hit. With six teams, it's the smallest conference in the FCS.Just sayin'.....

Coastal's coach said as much in 2014 after the game in Greensboro. That's a big hole for the Big South. And with only 6 football programs... I'm sure they will be looking for viable dance partners.

Big South commissioner still confident in future May 16, 2016 STATS) - Coastal Carolina's decision to move up to the FBS next year surely has caused great frustration across Big South football considering the FCS conference is in the midst of its greatest success. Coastal was at the center of it, making five appearances in the national playoffs this decade, including two trips to the quarterfinals. Liberty is still a perennial power in the conference and it reached the playoffs and won there for the first time in 2014. Last year, Charleston Southern also rose to the Top 10 with its first conference championship in 10 years... www.foxsports.com/college-football/story/big-south-commissioner-still-confident-in-future-051616

I couldn't find one regarding Moglia's comments, but I thought I remembered seeing it. Oh, well...

even though we’ve never beaten coastal carolina, i still enjoyed playing against them. we’ve played some close games against coastal and really should’ve beaten them 2 years ago. and its really cool to visit myrtle beach when we play them, which to me is a “bonus” when playing coastal.
but now coastal is stepping up to play against the big boys at the fbs level and i have no reason to expect them to be any less successful than schools like app state and georgia southern. certainly finances will not be an issue for ccu at the fbs level...

I'm still cool with playing Coastal.....now that they've moved up, that means we could get an FBS check from them while still being able to realistically compete with them at the same time. We need to continue to play low level FBS teams while we collect their high level checks.

I totally agree we need to play a playoff contender just to see how we match up even though we not going to the playoff it could had still been use a recruiting tool. I would rather play them than ELON. I wonder one day if we will reconsider moving up. I know I know its about MONEY MONEY MONEY!!!!!!

I know I know its about MONEY MONEY MONEY!!!!!! gosh, i wouldn’t mind playing coastal even if they’re an fbs team (for a check of course). but i hope we “never, ever, ever, ever” consider moving up to the fbs level because there’s virtually “zero” chance of an hbcu succeeding at that level. it would take “donald trump money” for an hbcu to succeed at the fbs level and clearly we ain’t got it. so i hope we “never, ever, ever, ever” make the same mistake that famu made many years ago, unless someone like “t. boone pickens” foots the bill for us...

Honest question. Just because Coastal moved to FBS does that automatically mean their FBS money will be better to pay us a bigger check (assuming we played them)?
