Well I'm going to the Kent State game with the same feeling of optimism I had heading to App State in 2013. Already made reservations. ;D Sent from my SM-N910P using proboards I feel you. I have to go rep at the Tulsa game and visit my folks in Dallas. The roundtrip flight out of Charlotte to Dallas for that weekend is $223 right now. Not bad.

I agree 100% with naborhood. We been saying the same thing about schedule since the Elon win. It got us to the Celebration Bowl. Without a FCS opponent on the schedule my stomach is going to hurt all the way until the clock hits zero at NCCU this year. Wow! Just saw where nccu has the second longest winning streak in FCS at 7 consecutive wins. Sent from my SM-N910P using proboards

Side note:
Bethune's first 4 MEAC games....
9/24 - at SSU 10/1 - NCCU 10/8 - at SCSU 10/13 - A&T
Aside from the SSU game, the MEAC office did BCU no favors. Our 4th quarter against them is going to be interesting after a 5-day turnaround.

I like the fact that we have a light tune-up with St. Aug before we take on Kent State. Hopefully we will get over the opening season jitters by that time and be ready for Kent State. It darn hard to beat any PWI football program at that level on their own field. It will take a perfect game and some luck too. In past years I would be hoping to keep the score close, get a check and go home with all the key players injury free. But in the Celebration Bowl era, I want to also leave with a victory. It's asking a lot of our players but hey we can hope.
I had originally planned to go to the Kent State game but I may have to pass due to health issues. The A&T Band isn't attending Kent State or Tulsa so more than likely I'll miss both games too. (Don't hate me because I'm a bandhead too!)

Kent plays Penn State the week before we visit. I guess there are two schools of thought..... they may be beat up for the game with us suffering some injuries or they may just be mad and highly motivated....
I am not saying they will take us to lightly but I think they will feel like we are a team thats slightly better than Del State.

Is Kent. St really winnable? to give you some perspective, here’s kent state’s overall record for the last 6 seasons. just based on their record, they haven’t been very good over the last 3 seasons, but had an impressive record of 11-3 including a bowl game win in 2012. they play in a very tough “midmajor” conference (mac), so don’t be misled to believe that they will be easier to beat simply because of their overall record the last two years. after all, they’re still an fbs team with more scholarships and resources than us... 2015 => 3-9 2014 => 2-9 2013 => 4-8 2012 => 11-3 2011 => 5-7 2010 => 5-7

I'll be estatic with a victory over Kent St but I am not expecting it. I think we need to curb our enthuasim just a bit about Kent State. I wouldn't want is getting pissed in Sept if we lose this game.

Paul Haynes is the current HC at Kent (since 2013). His record is the 9-26 one you have listed one. He's likely on the hot seat this year. No FBS game is an easy game for an FCS school. But this is likely one of the more winnable opportunities we'll get. We have to play well regardless.

Yep... OL play is everything in these games. I like our OTs (Parker and Pettiford). A mobile power-block like Blake could be a difference maker if he plays as advertised. It's all about execution, though.

100% correct....I'd be willing to bet that Kents strategy for winning this game is total dominance at the line of scrimmage. With out a doubt (at least in my mind) they will bring a full house blitz to start the game...
