If you are a 4 hour drive away, you will need an overnight stay for the team.

I am not sure I understand why you do not think our fan base would follow? Don't fans follow their team not who their teams play? And like Tenn State, there could still be 3 HBCU's on the schedule. However, I am not supporting a move, I just wonder why you say that. TSU is a perfect example of why not to move. Their fan base only cares about the three HBCUs on the schedule and after homecoming it's a wrap on the season. I work with a couple of their grads and there is constant complaints on the other fan bases and they take a lot of abuse on the road.

I agree Rattler . I do not think that the grass is greener on the other side. if we leave the MEAC that would bwill notvery boneheaded move. And I don't think that a lot of our fan base will follow. saabman, history has shown that we draw just as many fans to aggie stadium when we play schools like elon or coastal carolina as we do when we play non-rival hbcu’s like morgan state, dsu, ssu, or even famu or bcu. besides, if we leave for the big south, we still could play our biggest hbcu rivals as ooc games and not even miss a beat. heck, coastal carolina played “3” meac teams last year (a&t, scsu, famu). so there’s no reason that we couldn’t continue to play our biggest hbcu rivals (nccu, scsu, howard)... If A&T decides to leave the MEAC North Carolina Central, South Carolina State and Howard will no longer be rivals. they will only be three HBCU institutions on a schedule. like I said before the grass is not always greener on the other side and playing white institutions will not get the same effect from the fan base. All bragging rights go out the window with other HBCU's along with the pageantry and the feeling of being part of the HBCU experience. Also A&T has a wider scope of appeal nationwide then some seem to think and I'm afraid if A&T moves to a predominantly white conference with out bringing at least the dominant teams in the MEAC a lot of that heritage would be lost. I know you may not agree with me this is just my opinion in my thoughts.

I appreciate your opinion but I think you are dead wrong. Reason why I say that is the fan that only cares about the NCCU game, homecoming, and a possible game with WSSU could not even tell you what conference we are in today and they surely could not tell you what MEAC means. They would probably say I think we are in the CIAA.
The only reason the SC State games is well attended is because its played in Charlotte plus SC State is probably not going to maintain their D1 status. The world and the landscape is changing we have to be relevant to grow not just survive..................

Didnt I hear that it was going to be a package deal? Central would move with us...it would be smart for them to move too. All HBCUs need to save money...travel costs will be cut by $500000 in today's dollars

I can see a benefit in Basketball and other sports, but as far as Football goes there is no benefit to be had, other then being able to play in the FCS playoffs ! How will the move benefit A&T what will the pay in be ?

I will keep saying it until folks finally address it......I'm not interested in the playoffs if we will continuously have our championship team on the road trying to win a playoff game. This is our FCS playoff history.... 1986 @georgia Southern: 52-21 (loss) 1992 @citadel: 44-0 (loss) 1999 @tennessee St: 16-3 (win) @youngstown St: 41-3 (loss) 2003 @wofford: 31-10 (loss)
We have gotten blitzed virtually every time we've been in the playoffs.....BECAUSE WE'VE ALWAYS BEEN ON THE ROAD......
You all know good and well if we would've won the game at Central, we would have been on the road because we had not even submitted a bid to host a home playoff game. I'm not interested in having our team travel EVERY SINGLE TIME we play in the playoffs. We all know the Tenn St story back in 99...their do-everything QB was injured which limited them do do virtually anything on offense.
So if we hypothetically go to the Southern Conference, Big South, or whatever conference you all want to throw out there, if we still ain't doing much to secure a home playoff game, we'll be in the same quandary we've historically been in.
I'm not interested in participating in the playoffs. I'm interested in winning in the playoffs. Having our team travel on the road in the playoffs is not a playoff-winning recipe.....

I believe we ould have lost those same games had they been home games. Maybe not as bad as we lost on the road, but all losses count the same.

My apologies but I'm stuck on this Elon thing. Just check out that UNC game this year, you'll probably only see the small visitor section with aggies and the rest unc fans. In my opinion we SHOULD expect to see the same thing for A&T vs. ELON or WSSU or whoever we are playing at home. It should be difficult for visiting fans to get into Aggie stadium.

BOWIEAGGIE is RIGHT...those playoff loses would have been loses even IF the games had been played in the Holland Bowl- ? and those loses showed the GAP between those conference Champs and MEAC representatives;that Gap has narrowed(thank goodness),but it still exists!!! When "you" can't Finish games...like in 2014 vs SC St,Coastal Carolina and NCCU, why wouldn't a Selection Committee historically DISCRIMINATE against "you" because of being an HBCU, by giving "you" unwinnable playoff match ups. folks there is a Reason(whether U like it or Not) that our ONLY playoff win was vs another HBCU-OPEN YOUR EYES and REevaluate those 3 2014 games mentioned above.

.....that whole "We just can't beat them, lets take our ball & leave" thing kills me.....If your team is real enough they should be able to slap whoever, wherever & whenever they play. Period

I don't disagree with BowieAggie either.....but if we're never going to bid for a home playoff game, do we really think our playoff fortunes will ever turn around? There's no such thing as an easy win in the FCS playoffs, home or away. But I'm not going to reward each and every Aggie MEAC championship team with a 1st-round bus ride to white school U. If we don't want to pay for a 1st round game, our asses need to be right where we are going to be......in Atlanta playing the Celebration Bowl where we get some chump change out of the deal. I've never been crazy about the bowl, but I'm thinking about this from a purely economical aspect. If we ain't paying for an Aggie Stadium playoff game, I'm not interested in being a first-round sideshow for a FCS team to treat us like sacrificial lambs at their home stadium. Frankly, if we choose to go the Celebration Bowl route indefinitely, get Winston back on the schedule.....I'll go a step further. It can be a home-and-home series again. Abandoning the FCS playoffs is a clear sign we are not interested in being FCS good. So all of this lipsmacking we're giving WSSU about not doing things on our terms because we're FCS and they're DII gets thrown out the window as well to me.
