Can we afford to buy out another contract? In my mind that's the only consideration at this point.

I am normally in favor of playing this game despite the difference in classification. However, I think we should stick it to Hayes and let him pay for Maynor's salary without a payday from us. We can absorb the loss of revenue from this game better than WSSU. Hayes way overpaid a d-ii coach just to kick sand in our face.

How can the best option be more of the same? We've had our fill of lifetime assistant coaches. We need to hire someone proven. We will undoubtedly have to pay a premium, but we've got to get it done.

Mike White at Albany State deserves a look. Since 03' he's won 11 games twice, 10 games once. His worst season in that time period was 7 wins. I don't know why he'd leave his Alma mater, but it's worth a call.

There are no good losses but I enjoyed the hell out of that game.

No disrespect to Mr. Pugh, but we've been down this road before. We NEED a proven head coach. This guy was a head coach twenty years ago. The game has changed quite a bit in that time with APR and other issues.

I can understand the need to conduct a discreet search for a football coach. I don't expect A&T to reveal the names of the candidates. However, I cannot understand why there has been so little communication to the stakeholders about the process, what are the desired qualifications for a new coach and other relevant issues. It's pretty d@mn disrespectful to the program's supporters.

I don't want to believe this. I'm holding out hope that Martin is going to surprise us with a good hire for AD and football coach. If he doesn't I will not continue to blindly give money to the athletic department.

Where is the money for the press box coming from? The state gave us permission to borrow the money. It's a way to get around voter approval for building projects. Supposedly donations and other revenue will pay off the debt. We'll see.

We hired Hayes because he was a proven winning head coach. We got away from that. We hired Small who had a losing record as head coach. He won a championship in his first year at Kentucky St. then it all went downhill. Sound familiar? We followed that up with a career position coach and coordinator. We know the outcome of those decisions. We need to hire a PROVEN head coach. I don't think Maynor is that. A&T shouldn't have to be proving grounds for head coaches. I hope and pray that Martin makes a good choice.

I was surprised by Lee's firing. Even so I am in agreement with the decision. In my view Lee was a bad hire. I'll give Martin a pass if he makes a good hire and financially supports the program.

No more coordinators or position coaches please! Let's hire a head coach with a proven track record. We'll probably have to hire a div. II coach given our financial situation.
