You guys are joking, right?! This is just a sad, sad situation .. How about now? Still think its a joke? Rags is our only option in my opinion. Give him the job now and end this madness. He is the one holding the team together and doing any type of recruiting(if any is being done). Give him a 1 year interim title and lets see how this thing goes. I have nothing against giving Ragsdale a shot. Its February!!! There is no one out there with any sense that would take this job that is heads and shoulders above Rags in my opinion. NOt given the situation we are in. Imagine hiring someone else now. They will come in a week or so, have to deal with 44 scholarships and limited practice time. Virtually no recruiting class and not a backup QB or RB within miles. Not to mention he doesn't know the kids personally nor physically. A diehard fan could coach this team in 2011 better than a new head coach at this point. |

And what kind of staff do you think Ragsdale could assemble as we are already in the second semester of school and in the preparation stages for the 2011 season. What reputable offensive and defensive coordinator or even position coaches would sign up for a "1 year interim" trial period under a coach who has never been nothing more but a fill-in position coach. In the words of the great OchoCinco, "Child Please".
Martin would be better off letting Born and Dooms coach the team next year or asking former players in the Triad to come back and donate their time for a year. We only have 3 days to get something done. Even if we had a full allotment of scholarships,no coach with integrity and character will leave his team after promising incoming recruits/parents that he'd be there if they send that fax in. Official spring practice starts in a little over 4 weeks.

Rags isn't the only one left on the staff. He doesn't have to hire a staff. The staff is actually already in place. Remove Berry as the head OC and you are ready to roll. Give me a better solution right now? Cause I sure as hell cant think of one. NO matter who you bring, this late in the game they have to pretty much role with the staff we got with the exception of 1 or 2 coaches that they can convince to bring with them. |

NO matter who you bring, this late in the game they have to pretty much role with the staff we got with the exception of 1 or 2 coaches that they can convince to bring with them. i agree with you, monster. for the very reasons you've given. allow rags to run the show for a season with the interim tag attached and you accomplish two things. one, if rags does a good job, remove the interim tag and give him an extension. or two, if he doesn't do a good job, there's likely to be more candidates available in the future (including maynor) who may become interested. i think you're better off doing that than force feeding an un-deserving coach into the position... |

It looks like our options are limited, Ragsdale may get the spot by default. Looks like karma is a __________ for Martin, to bad it is at everyones expense.
