OSA, We don't have a power forward or a center. SSU had power forwards and centers. You cannot make giraffes out of zebras or vice versa. None of the players we have on this team are post players. We did play good defense last night.....but guess what, when you are playing a bigger team, they have the height and weight to dominate in the paint. EAVES RECRUITED NO BIG MAN TO REPLACE COLEMAN......This isn't rocket science. We're asking wingmen to be power forwards and centers. That doesn't even work in recreational basketball..... your point is well taken, we definitely don't have a center on our team. however, i would argue that upchurch is a legit power forward, but that's about it as far as post players go. smith is a very "undersized" power forward. rj buck isn't a post player, but he does a lot of the dirty work inside for us. overall, we just don't have the muscle inside to bang with teams who have strong inside play. when we play norfolk, o'quinn is gonna give us fits! surprisingly, we did quite well against morgan's towering front line. but something just ain't right with morgan this year, everybody is beating them this year even though they have the tallest front line in the meac. "legit" post players are the hardest players to recruit because they're in such high demand and there's so few of them. its much easier to recruit guards and small forwards because they're plentiful. i guess eaves was relying on kam shepard to help us out in the post this season, but he's now mia... Come on man, Cam Shepard!! Wait right here Ima go get him and when I do find him what's gonna happen??

When I played ball all that mattered is what the scoreboard said. My coach taught there were no excuses. Bottom line is what counts....we can continue to blame it on Eaves' restrictions and anything else we can think of. A&T ain't an Ivy league school you don't have to be a rocket scientist to be admitted. At the end of the day he is a .500 (or less) coach in the MEAC on a consistent basis that is what is shameful and somewhat hilarious. It's Eaves not us!! Wake Up! Like I said things have changed with admissions just look at Justin Black from Morgan who signed with us but, could not get admitted. He is at Morgan and was starting until he got hurt. KNOW YOUR FACTS...that is what happen to Cam this year

You may be surprised to know what I know. Excuses are what keeps people in the same 9 year hole. It does not matter who you may have recruited and they did not get accepted for whatever reason. It's time to get with REAL WORLD stuff. Ain't nobody suppose to feel bad for ME if I don't produce. I dam-a-lam ain't making excuses or feeling sorry for a mediocre coach. So know YOUR facts about that!!!!!

Gentlemen, all this back and forth about who Eaves did or didn't recruit is pointless. The problem with A&T's men's basketball team these past 8 years has more to do with it's lack of good "coaching" than it's recruiting effort. You guys are rearranging the deck chairs on the Titantic. Eaves coaching record over the past 8 years is clear...he cannot win in the MEAC Tournament! Hell he can win very many MEAC games during the season. Now we can debate the talent he does or doesn't have but recruiting is the responsibility of the coach. So to say we don't have a big man or any other player falls on Eaves shoulders.
I've said on this site that I am not a student of basketball talent or skills but I do know one thing... in 8 years Eaves has not manage to win the MEAC Tournament or even win two games in the tournament. (By the way, go to A&T's Basketball website and try to figure out Eaves total wins. Who ever wrote his bio really worked hard to hide the fact that he has a losing record)
You guys can keep complaining about what players we don't have but until we get a better basketball coach, it just doesn't matter.

Ya'll need to get a life and get off of Eaves' sack. Whether Eaves is fired today or tomorrow, right now he is still our coach and we have to support him and the team (for better or for worst) and hope that they improve. We can talk about how bad of a coach he is until we turn blue but it makes no difference unless Martin decides he wants him gone. Martin is in attendance at every game so I know he sees what is going on. Maybe he is ready to make a change or maybe not, and I don't think he will make that decision based on what we say on BDV. I know this is a site where fans go to express their concerns but by now we all know just about how everyone feels about Eaves. Give it a rest already!

it's just very sad that our program has fallen so low. i know that even the best college basketball traditions occasionally have down periods, but most of them don't stay down. unfortunately, our very rich tradition had a down period starting in the mid to late 90's. duke, unc, wssu, st. aug, almost all basketball traditions have had a down period. but unlike others, ours have stayed down. its really very sad to have seen the aggie glory years as i have, only now to see us become a "non-factor" in the league we once dominated.
we have "completely" lost a generation of aggie students and alums who use to "religiously" follow aggie basketball. its just heartbreaking to see our rabid fanbase go from averaging about 4k fans per game to barely 2k per game. and i use to be able to rely on the lady aggies for a little aggie pride, but now even they're struggling.
i'm not the type to give up on my teams, i usually stick with my teams thru thick and thin. hail, i'm a redskins, panthers, wizards, bobcats, and nationals fan and i'm still sticking with them. but dayum, after so many years of aggie "heartbreaks" and barely any meac tournament wins, it's getting harder and harder to stay a "hard core" aggie basketball follower.
i'm not asking for much. i'm not asking that we win a national championship or even become a top midmajor program, though it would be nice. all i ask for is to become a "consistent" top 3 meac team who wins its fair share of regular season and tournament championships. anything above and beyond that is frosting on the cake. i'd luv to return to our "dominate" years, but i'm not even asking for that. and, i'm not asking that we outcompete the odu's and unc charlotte's of the world, though it would be nice. for starters, just give me a "consistent" top tier meac team. no reason in the world we shouldn't be able to accomplish that...

My postion is very, very simple.
In this world, it is now 2012, we are judged by the bottom line. That should be clear to everybody. Losers make excuses.
I have hit Martin/Hilton about this "situation". Does that mean I don't want us to win? No!! Does that mean I don't contribute financially? No!!
Some people are so loyal that they miss the big picture. Ex: it will get better, it can't last forever, etc. Anyone of those approaches AND one dollar will get you one item from the dollar store.
This is a public forum and I'm not sugar-coating it. Plus I've been talking to the decision-makers.
But insanity is doing the same thing over and over.

Being a die hard Aggie means more than a blind support a losing team. I think alot of folks think that as long as we are showing up things will work themselves out. Well Im sorry nut we dont live in a world of self-accountability.
We as alumni are the most vital part of the check and balance system at A&T. Complacency is what keeps budgets high and expectations low. Negating to voice your opinion or concern is the same group think that holds millions of our people back.

I agree that everyone has the right to voice their opinion and they should if they don't agree with the situation. However, this has gotten ridiculous. The same people have been crowing for 2 years about who they know, who they talk to, how things are going to change, blah, blah, blah...
There's an Entire Forum called The Firing Squad. Go over there and vent. It's not right that a 30 point win gets two pages of back handed compliments and faint praise and a close loss gets 6 pages of Fire the Coach, I told y'all he can't coach.
I said it last year and I'll say it again this year. Unless the bottom falls out, which it hasn't, he aint getting fired until his contract runs out. Stop ruining the gameday threads thinking that you are T. Boone Pickens and have all this clout with the administration. You don't.
After we beat Central on Saturday, it will be because their shooter isn't playing. If we lose, it's because Eaves is a bum. Everyone has dug in with their position, so start your petitions in the Firing Squad and let us who want the team to win this year actually talk about the games...

Numbers don't lie! SSU -----46 rebs A&T------27 rebs Hill--------1 assist Underwood-1 assist So we got a total of two (2) assists from our floor generals! I have said before that we do not have point guards.... we have shooting guards in point guard bodies. Hill is generously listed at 5'8". Underwood is generously listed at 6'0''. Eaves had not recruited a true "pass" first-- playmaking, floor general, point guard since he been running the show (9yrs). Hear some people tell it we might as well annoint Eaves as the greatest .500 (or less) coach in history! Sad!!!! The two floor generals probably only had one assist because the people they pass it to aren't finishing, not because they aren't passing. Just my observation.
