yeah Hayes recruited them, but he couldn't coach them to be champions. That's the problem people had with Hayes. Winning seasons were great, but the fans and alumni wanted championships.

...but didn't want to pay for them.
I'd probably never win a case if I had to spend half my prep time making barbecue and begging so people would donate money for me to buy legal pads and treatises.
Luckily I've never had that problem so I haven't had a problem winning cases.
I don't know where you work but I'm sure you can do your job without having to spend a great deal of time soliciting funds to do the job.
Before you say part of his job was to raise funds for the program try naming another coach that raised as much and was given as little and still managed to win way more games than he lost.
You simply won't give him his due. Yes he wasn't Knute Rockne but he was the best we had by far. Every teams fans and alumni want championships. He got us three with very little help from the fans and alumni.
I was probably the first person on earth that said he had to go. But I said that not realizing how cheap the school was (is) and how few resources we allocate. Had I know what he was[n't] working with I'd have kept my mouth shut.
Hayes would never field the worst team in the nation on any level. Never.

It is a Good Thing that WSSU vs NCCU vs NCA&T is back on again, via Home and Home.
My guess is that NCCU vs. NCA&T will be played over at Duke again, until NCCU enlarge our Football Stadium, soon in the future.
Take Care!

"One of those people I just named has a lot of explaining to do".
I pick (E) Dee Todd because she never should have fired small to begin with especially if she had no plan.... who does she think she is the "Funky QB"!!! Plus I get tired of people making decisions when they have no clue on what they're doing and the people she listens too haven't got a clue either!!! if the athletic dept. is going to be run by someone who doesn't know anything about athletics.... why should I send money to be squandered.... why???
dooms you are right on about small... he deserves to be honored in some form or fashion because he came to his alma mater's need after the "geniuses" fired hayes!! and if you're going to be truthful about it... the process to fire small started when we beat nccu on that 50yd field goal... the ad screwed with his program ever sense!!!
thrilla: what can I say... our 0-11 season was inevitable when the "geniuses" fired the strength coach back in febuary.... hell wasn't anybody physically ready to play!!! that's why we got man-handled on the field... we go from 3-8 (which could have just as easily been 8-3) 2yrs in a row to 0-11 with no strength coach... and you blame small???

This is should be a great game for us... especially for my Senior Year. Aggie Eagle...@ Home. Lawd, that's gonna be a party and a fight waiting to happen

I'd say the ultimate responsibility always lies in the Chancellor's hands because the Chancellor is the Chief Executive of the University. I think an article that Chancellor Hackley and Dr. Speight-Buford were in addressed that.
So its C -> D -> A ->....and so on.
I'm just hoping to see us go .500 in my Senior year so I can at least know what a winning looks like again...

You might want to re-enroll and get a Master's if that's your goal.
