What you say is true...but Fobbs can't effectively be OC, DC and HC. (1)gets a real DC (2)has a good recruiting year (3)gets support(resources he needs) from the new chancellor. Wow, how did that happen, He's the OC, HC and DC. No one else could have stepped up an take some of the pressure off his plate. It happened because we let it. We let it because we're too busy placing blame on Small and pretending he was completely incompetent. Our a.d. felt that Small was so incompetent that any I-A position coach with no experience could come right in and be oc and head coach with no problem. Joke's on us. In any event just like I've been saying this wasn't no come right in and win project. This was a total strip and rebuild. The problem we have now is it costs money to rebuild. Our athletic budget is just enough to cover the rebuild of Steve Austin, in 1977 money. I said when he was hired I felt our best hope was that he would realize at the end of year one that he had taken on too much and get an established o.c., no matter the knock his paycheck would take as a result. I'll reiterate that if he does that then he'll have won me over because it will show he has sense and isn't too stubborn to admit he might be in over his head with the current setup.

There is one gentleman who can legitimately laugh at A&T but he has too much class to do so. A&T former strength and conditioning coach who is currently working with WSSU football team and has been since he was let go by Dee Todd. I was disputed by this administration that Cornwell was not WSSU head strength and conditioning coach. Technically the person was right but he was splitting political hairs. WSSU did not budget the position for this school year but will have the position filled next year but that did not stop the Rams from having an S&C coach to work with their players throughout the summer and fall. The same S&C coach who was not allowed to work with the A&T football players last spring has gotten the Rams players strong enough to be competitive with their future MEAC conference opponents and win a few games.
WSSU was 6-4 in Division II and with wins mostly against the weak sisters of the CIAA. Everyone thought they would be dog meat for the MEAC foes this year but to everyone surprise this 3-6 team is a very physical team. Physical enough to push A&T players all over the field and physical enough to even push a strong Howard Bison defense around and win. WSSU lost to BCC 10-6, two weeks before A&T’s embarrassing 70-7 lost. Last week loss to 17th ranked Hampton was only by a score of 13-3 score. You ask Blount why they have been so competitive in 1AA and I guarantee you he will give a lot of credit to his volunteer S&C coach who was at A&T last year. A S&C coach who was not used last semester because of a childish spat by a person who thought he knew Cornwell’s job better than he did. The same person who let a valuable asset just go to waste until he could get rid of him. Makes you wonder if players that could have helped this team but are not there got the same treatment.
Now A&T has an S&C coach. A&T got him in October well after the end of the spring semester, the summer, the fall training camp and those six or five embarrassing losses. This season is finished. I look forward to seeing the Aggies push the Rams all over the field next season.

Whether true or not, one thing is for sure.
Central kicked our a$$ two years ago (and imagine what they'd have done this year) in no small part due to the fact that their athletic director, defensive coordinator and defensive backs coach were shown the way to I-85 north via 29 south.
Morgan kicked our a$$ and this was in no small part due to the fact that their offensive line coach/coordinator and defensive coordinator were shown the way to I-85 north via 29 south by armed guards.
Winston kicked our a$$ and this was supposedly in no small part due to the fact that their strength and conditioning coach was shown the way to I-40 east via 29 south over God know's what.
Honestly, there are ways to end relationships with people without fueling the flames of hatred, i.e. starting threads over the internet that insult them. It just seems that we continue to do things WRONG.

(Why is #2 optimistic? If he can't get a solid class, he shouldn't be coaching. He's only has room for 10-15 guys. He should be able to get that.)
I personally know coaches at Richmond, Scotland, and Anson County. The Southeastern conference is the strongest conference in NC not to mention the Cumberland County schools in the same conference. We need to find the players out of this conference that have the grades to play. We also need to find out what Junior colleges coach Hayes was recruting from. He brought in some killers from Junior Colleges the years he was at A&T. I also know coaches at Garner and Cary High School. We also need to hit the Queen city hard too. Remember Daryl Klugh!!!!! He one of the best saftey we had at A&T. Can't forget about Dwayine Carpenter too!!!!!!! He's a St. Louis Ram now. We need to hit the grind RIGHT NOW and find the players so we can try to stay ahead.

There are Aggies in the areas that I have named, If we want our Football team to become better we need those Aggies including myself to talk to the players, It's worth a shot since the current coach does not have any ties to the Carolinas.

Before we get to talking we should clear it with the coaching staff. It's my understanding that many times we'll talk to players we think are great and the coaching staff doesn't think the player will fit into what they want to do. So they don't follow up. That leaves a bad taste in a recruit's mouth. And recruits do talk to each other.

Ok That's understandable

Bornthrilla,
I am considering responding in full after the season. Don't know if I will or not because I have found these types of boards to be more entertaining than informative. But I may very well have to if for no other reason than to disspell some of the fantastical stories that I have read on this site.
And I didn't mean to open the can prematurely, but I just could not keep from voicing my discontent to what really amounts to a completely spiteful and non-productive statement.
And I don't mean to be enigmatic. I assure you my lack of response at this time is for the right reasons and has nothing to do with a lack of courage. I think I had once read somewhere that you are now living in the Houston area as am I, so if you and I need to get together one on one to discuss my courage or manhood we can.
And if possible, I think I would prefer to have my responses posted in the private forum again taking into account the same reasons for my lack of response up to this point. (I would need information on how to get that done.) I will defer that to what the moderators and faithful BDV posters think is best.
Again, judgement may get the better part of me and keep me from answering all your questions and accusations. Please know this, I appreciate the passion with which you all post to this board. I too believe you are all sitting on a potential gold mine and would like nothing more than for the student-athletes and true fans to realize their potential; and perhaps my thoughts may help in gearing your energies (sometimes wasted) towards that end.

Old Coach, please tell me you didn't just challenge me to a fistfight, off-line. LOL! Why, because I asked you to have the courage to express your views in detail?
Alright, please meet me in the parking lot at Sharpstown Mall on the Southwest Side this Saturday night. I'll be the crazy-looking guy with long braids in my hair, wearing a R.I.P DJ Screw t-shirt.
Seriously though, the private forum on this board can be accessed only by official BDF members. However, if you have some personal info you want to discuss you can just PM or email me and I will be happy to post it in private forum for you. You can also leave an email address if you want people to respond back to you.
BTW: If I honestly offended you with the "courage" comment, I apologize. My only intention was for you to elaborate on your previous statement. Which you have now done and I appreciate.

On the off chance that Old Coach is Coach Small, let me say that I hope you are doing well! I regret it didn't work out here at your alma mater.
