but thrilla, using that logic, what does it mean that they also loss to savannah state (at home) and to nccu?
look, let's face it. other than a&t, no one in the meac gets fired up to play wssu. especially since it doesn't count in the standings. but for wssu, every meac game they play is their super bowl. they're out to prove they belong.
dayum thrilla, i didn't know you were scurd like that...

Oldschool, you might be confusing my prediction with what I hope and wish would happen. I hope A&T wins by 80. But this week, I would not be willing to put any money on that.

But this week, I would not be willing to put any money on that. no, i'm sure you want us to win. no one on the planet can question your loyalty to the aggies. i'm just surprised you don't have enuf confidence in our guys to believe we'll beat winston. does that mean you're not impressed by what you've seen at practice?

Honestly, the team has looked very promising in fall camp.
The question remains how will that translate when they have to compete against another school.
Let's not forget that WSSU will be trying to win this game and impress their fans just as much as we are.
Every boxer looks like a world champ when he is in the gym by himself, just working the punching bag.
You don't really know how good he is until he enters the ring against some real competition.

well, i sure hope our players and coaches understand how "critical" this game is! when your next 3 opponents are nsu, hampton, and coastal carolina, the season could get very ugly quickly if we lose to wssu. talk about air out of the baloon!
on the other hand, if we win, our guys will be riding a high into the rest of the season and nsu will be vulnerable to an aggie upset...

In my opinion, if we stop there running game, we win hands down. If not, it will be a struggle.

Every boxer looks like a world champ when he is in the gym by himself, just working the punching bag. You don't really know how good he is until he enters the ring against some real competition. Come on, Thrilla, All that smack that people have been writing about how much better the team looks this year and how Coach Lee and his staff are doing such a good job. I don't live Greensboro and I want to depend on the validity of reports coming out of Greensboro, particularly, from those who have seen the team practice. Based on all the write-ups I've seen, I'm hopeful that we have a good team and then I see where a former player projects that we are going to lose. That's disheartening, let's face it, if we can't beat WSSU who can we beat. Even Fobbs beat them. Are you saying we are not as good as last year's Fobbs team? I hope that's not what you are saying and I hope the players see themselves as a MUCH BETTER TEAM.

That's the great thing about fan sites: opinions often vary.
I believe that Lee and staff have done a great job this offseason and the team will be much better. I just don't know if they will be good enough to beat a WSSU team on the road that returns basically their entire defense from last year (BTW: this is a WSSU team that none of us has seen play this season).
As much as folks on this site are excited about how much we have made strides over the summer, it seems foolhardy to believe that none of our opponents have made similar improvements.
We are not the only college football team in the universe. Everyone else is working out and practicing hard and watching extra film and all that good stuff too. And let's not forget that, as a program, we are trying to play catch-up to the rest of these schools since it wasn't that long ago when we had the worse offense in the nation and a 27-game losing streak.
I like General Lee and I like a lot of the players on this roster. Just not quite sure how they will perform when the bright lights are on.

BTW: What former player are you referring to? My playing career took place on the mean streets of Fondren and West Airport Blvd in Houston Texas as a street football all star. I could run a slant route off a parked Buick like nobody's business.

the most convincing indicator that i've heard comes from some of the players and coaches interviewed. there's this constant theme that the guys have never been worked this hard before. well, in athletics, the level of work you put in cannot and must not be underestimated. i know it's a cliche' but it's true, "no pain, no gain". if lee indeed has these boyz working much harder than they did last year, we will definitely see some guys do some things that we thought they were incapable of doing last year!
the difference between hard work and just gettin' by is like night and day! it means the guy that didn't have breakaway speed last year, now has breakaway speed. it means the lineman who got pushed around last year, is now blowing folks off the line of scrimmage. i know from personal experience that an athlete (who hadn't worked hard in the past) will look like he's on steroids if he pushes himself in practice as hard as he can.
if our guys have worked harder than they have in the past, that's what gives me confidence that our returning players will be much better this year. even fears admitted the guys didn't work that hard under fobbs. harder work plus a very talented recruiting class (no one on our team could run a 4.24 forty last year) is what gives me confidence in this team...
