He's a little light in the azz to be playing ot don't you think? Is he athletic enough to move to TE? Is our strength and conditioning program that good?

Fobbs is looking to follow th SoCon blueprint of smaller more athletic and quick linemen with better technique. You'll see this kid around 265 and still agile with the 4.9 or better by the time he' a sophomore.
You'll see us get away from 350 pound lines who can't move real well to lines that go 270-285 who have stamina and quickness. Ask Joe Taylor about Richmond. The Pirates were well over 320 on offense and got manhandled by a d-line that went barely 275 because of the athleticism.
There is no substitute for speed.

If he's that light he must be pulling all the time

You definitely don't want fat linemen. Even former o-line coach Berry said he'd rather have a small guy and build him up than a fat guy you're trying to keep under 400 all the time.
You redshirt that kid and feed him creatine and by his soph year he's faster, stronger, and more athletic. Good pickup.

By JODY O'DONNELL, Sports Correspondent
Wednesday, February 01, 2006Today is college football's National Signing day. It is a calendar event some zealous fans rank just behind Christmas. It is a fiesta for the colleges, their followers and the players alike. In our area, the high school which was the most cheerful giver of football talent to the four-year institutions of higher learning is Northeastern. The Eagles, who won the Northeastern Coastal Conference and were consistently ranked among the top 10 Class 2A teams in the state, have produced five players whose football abilities have given them the privilege of going to college for free. However, the fruit about to be enjoyed by Javon Brumsey, Devven Sutton, Shelton Morgan, Brian Lewis, and Leroy Brown did not come easily. It was the product of years of effort and teamwork. East Carolina-bound wide receiver Javon Brumsey and quarterback Shelton Morgan, who is heading to North Carolina A & T, have been refining their passing game timing since the fifth grade. Back then the 6-foot-1, 180-pound Morgan, who threw for over 4,500 yards during his Northeastern career, was taller than Brumsey, who now stands 6-foot-5. "I was taller than him until about the eighth grade," said Morgan, noting that he has probably thrown the ball to Brumsey thousands of times during practice or games. "I could always find him on the field."
Even with Brumsey being double- and triple-teamed this year, Morgan found him 51 times for 967 yards and six touchdowns. Brumsey's 3,379 career receiving yards are a school record. More info on Morgan, The kid is a passer and can run like crazy. He was Fobbs top in-state prospect at QB. www.ncprepreport.com/players/default.asp?ID=13481

At least Fobbs gets that he has to recruit QBs in his first year. Good pick up.

We looking really good so far with this class early. We waiting to hear from two other QBs, a couple of kickers, and slew of linebackers and linemen we offered.

Realistically these are'nt what I'd call spectacular pick ups. Byrd only runs a 4.85 fourty which probably isn't going to cut it at the wr position. With his leaping ability perhaps we can add a little weight and convert him to a te?
Carter looks ripped in his photo!
