"sundial timed 40"... Classic
Well, all in all, so far it looks like a serviceable class to me. No prima donna's, no guys with their best performances behind them. Guys that can contribute, maybe not today, but in a couple of years.
In other words, a foundation.
I smell spread offense when I look at that qb we got. Methinks if you pick up a tape of Texas A&M with Reggie McNeal at qb you will be seeing our o next year (albeit slower).
I wonder how the transfer front is looking.
Did anybody notice the qb Winston signed?

Yeah a big kid but his foot speed was in question and the grades as well. We scouted him really heavy but passed. Fobbs made Morgan his top QB target because he's extremely accurate on his passes and has speed on the corners if he needs to run.

www.ncataggies.com/Football/articles/signing%20day%2006.htmAGGIES SIGN 15 ON FIRST DAY

We have started in the right directions in addressing those areas.” The following is a list of N.C. A&T’s signings on Wednesday: Wide Receivers/All-Purpose Players/Defensive Backs Cedric Byrd/WR 6-3 190 Williams/Burlington, NC 3-time all-conference performer…named all-region twice…posted 75 career receptions for 1,251 yards and 17 touchdowns. Stewart did a real good job in-state and Sulkowski got some very good JUCOs. Can't wait to see the next ten kids over the next few weeks. Excellent foundation to get his program started on the right foot. No dead weight in this group. ;D

I also like the fact of finally adressing the need at kicker. The kicking game has been a big problem.
Also glad to see the info posted today. Now if he is on the Aggie Sports report tomorrow, I will be extremely impressed.
Good job Fobbs!!

Its still early. Those kids tend to sign later but I am glad to see us get some mountain kids out west. That kicker is major. We needed him badly.

I'm still wondering how we pulled that off. The kicker that is.

I'm totally shocked that we signed Brad Barnhouse as kicker! The kid is known as "Mr. Dependable" and is damn near automatic from 40 yards on in. He kicked the game winning field goal as time expired in Indy's only real close game this year. He's also a decent punter as well. Dude is tall and skinny so we might have to put a little weight on him which will help him to be more consistent on his kickoffs.

This is a little misleading. Lavonte Kendrick was The Charlotte Observer defensive Player Of The Year but it was for Gaston County.

citizen-times.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060202/SPORTS0203/60201048/1002/SPORTS6 Rams headed to college programs by Andrew Pearson, STAFF WRITER published February 2, 2006 6:00 am ASHEVILLE — No one will accuse former Roberson football coach Mike Houston of leaving the school without a bang. Houston said Wednesday during national signing day that his final Rams team has produced six college-bound players. Tailback/defensive back Vernon White and linebacker Nick Clement each accepted Division I-AA scholarships from North Carolina A&T, linebacker Josh Baker is headed to Butler County Community College (Kan.) and linebacker Tyler Lance will join teammates Aaron Tolbert and Wesley Sprinkle as freshmen under Houston at Brevard College. In a surprising move, Houston resigned from Roberson on Friday to become associate head coach and defensive coordinator with Brevard. But he spoke proudly on Wednesday of a senior class that won 22 games together the past two seasons, including a school record 13 victories in 2004. “This is a real defining moment in all their lives,” Houston said. “It’s a fantastic day for the kids and their families. They have reached the end of the line in terms of football here at Roberson but I’m pleased that each of them will get the chance to keep playing (in college).” Technically, Houston’s final day as Roberson’s coach was Wednesday, an arrangement Houston worked out so he could comment on his former players’ college decisions, including the trio of Rams who will follow him in joining the Tornadoes’ newly-formed team. Lance, who collected 118 tackles his senior year, will enroll at Brevard along with Tolbert and Sprinkle, who announced their decisions earlier this week. Clement and White will play together for the Aggies. Clement averaged 7.8 tackles a game, while White rushed for a team-high total of 1,196 yards and 18 touchdowns. As a defensive back, White also made 56 tackles and six interceptions.
“I feel real good about A&T. I liked the family atmosphere among the players and the coach,” Clement said. “I feel really blessed. Everyone welcomed me with open arms and Vernon is coming with me.”Finally, Baker will reunite with former teammate David McDowell at Butler County after leading Roberson with 140 tackles (13 for a loss) and seven sacks. Baker was voted the Mountain Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Year by the league’s coaches. National signing day The following football and soccer players from Western North Carolina have committed to play college sports and signed national letters of intent on Wednesday or plan to do so later this month. Coaches or parents who know of additional signees should call 232-5863 or e-mail Andrew Pearson at apearson@CITIZEN-TIMES.com. LAWNDALE — When college football coaches made their stops at high schools across the region Wednesday for signing day, Burns High was one destination. Two Bulldog standouts signed the dotted line to make their college decisions. Burns’ all-time leading rusher Brandon Jackson cast his lot with North Carolina A&T and Bulldog receiver/defensive back Ulysses Tuft will ship out to the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis. “They are both very deserving,” Burns Coach Ron Greene said. “It’s always one of the proudest moments for any coach to see their athletes get opportunities. Both have put in hard work and shown dedication throughout the year.” Jackson — a standout two-way player throughout his career — was recruited by A&T as a defensive player. He rushed for 3,754 career yards in his time at Burns to rank seventh all-time in Cleveland County. He ran for 843 yards his senior year for the Bulldogs.
“I took an official visit up there,” said the 5-11 195-pound Jackson. “I really liked the crowd up there. It’s an atmosphere I’d love to play in. Playing ball in front of people is what I like.”
“We needed him so heavily on defense this year we didn’t play him as much on offense,” Greene said. “To me, he’s a no-lose player: if they have to, they can move him to running back.”
The Aggies’ signee looks forward to the challenge.
“I know it’s going to be more competition,” he said. “The players will be more athletic. I know I’ll have to earn everything I get.”The son of Ronnie and Annie Jackson, he plans to study in the social work field.
