Call it a rant, but I'm trying to give you some insight on how some of the guys think. It's like slapping your wife in front of the kids and then asking her to go to the movies with you. Many of the ex-bball players I know would never even step foot back into Corbett, let alone give anything back. It's alot that goes on behind the scenes is all I'm saying. And as I alluded to before, I don't think Eaves or Keyes are built like that. For me, I'd keep them around for that alone, forget the wins. That's how deep it is. Those coaches and admin didn't care. The graduation rate alone speaks for that. Good win for Eaves and the crew yesterday. Why do we have so many coaches? What is the role of all of these guys. Sometimes you just have to hold kids responsible. The b-ball coaches job is to win, yes part of that is keeping up with players to make sure they are eligible for 4 straight years, but give me a break. To be salty afer someone gave your black a$$ a free education and you squandered it is your own damn fault. Dont hate the school or the coach.

It really just shows a lack of character. But many of us lack character.

WHAT? ? #1) How many times did you get up at 4:00 am to do anything in college? You can probably count that on your handS. #2) A lot of the people that play aren't/weren't on the traditional scholarship. Trey just got one this year he's been a key contributer since he's been there! Tell his dad it's free. They have (or do now) fall for the old "Come on in and walk on and we'll give you a scholarship next year" trick. As a matter of fact, those are the ones who got stiffed the most. Nothing is free. Maybe the benefits might far out weigh the complications at major schools, but it's more of a burden at A&T's level (this is hindsight talking). Everyone of the guys loved the girls, status, etc, but do a "Where are they now?". What players do you know that have gone off and been successful because they were a member of the A&T bball team? FREE?!?! Most of us are still paying today (lost wages, potential etc). Yes, we have to take responsibility and I agree whole-heartedly, but just don't make it black and white. It's not. It's never black and white when people you trust turn out not to be who you think they are (coaches, admin, etc.). FREE? Gimme a break.

Plus that would explain the reason for about .0001% of ex-players what about the other 99.9999% who don't support the University?
I wouldn't exactly call it a free education!! There are some dues, pain and sweat being paid for that money.

There are some dues, pain and sweat being paid for that money. There are some dues, pain, and sweat with everything...it is a part of life. In fact, if your are not paying dues, have not been through some kind of emotional or physical pain, and have not sweated out the tough times, then you probably aint living. Nothing in life is free...nothing.

I have come to realize that some people will always look at the glass as being half empty.

My point is scholarship athletes don't receive a free education, what's your?

Aggies that don't give always find a reason not to. . True. Kudos to Austin Ewing for an invite to the prestigious Phi Kappa Phi. That's a great honor and gives one an insight on the character of the young man.

Good thing Hampton men's basketball coach, Nickleberry, don't have to face some of y'all this morning. His 5' 6" body would be 4' 6" by the time you all get through with him.

My point is scholarship athletes don't receive a free education, what's your? Dude... I am agreeing with you but I am elaborating on your statement to suggest that ALL students deal with it. There are great demands on all students. I've never been more exposed to the plights of students than this year as a professor at Morgan. Many of them are going through REAL pain and they don't have the luxury of knowing that their bills and tuition will be paid at the end of the day. The life of college athletes can be very demanding, but so can the struggles of just plain students. They are all paying dues of some kind. To get back to the topic...I think Eaves is a fraud too. ;D

Yeah Freeze, back to the topic.
I think Eaves is in a favorable position. He is not losing...at a school who has been accustomed to losing (no matter how much you don't want to admit). He can do what he has been for the next 20 years and not get fired. Why? Because he actually rescued the program from the abyss. Also, what happened the last time that a proven winner got fired at A&T? The next guy went 0'fer....and then 0'fer again. lol Furthermore, Eaves' teams will always have a lot of room for improvement (based on his coaching style) so he will always be given the benefit of the doubt. A fraud? I think that may be a bit harsh, but I'm definitely on your side of the aisle.
But, we should get used to it because the only way he is leaving is voluntarily. So, as a part of our Aggie Pride, shouldn't we start to just settle for what we have in Eaves, or should we want more? I'm learning from some of you.
