How can ballhandling and decision making be areas for improvement for a PG (red flag)? His strenghts must be off the charts. I was kinda thinking the same thing! My sentiments exactly.

Krazykev, can you explain why you think Coach Eaves should be recruiting Marcus Wright knowing what A&T will have at the guard positions next year.

I was just giving info to the board on a recruit that Eaves was recruiting. I got the info from scout.com... I just the messenger
Honestly, I think there are better guards in the state that he should be looking at.

Well, a good coach would scout anyone that seems to be making any noise in his backyard but it may be only a "look-see" after all is said and done.

With mostly guards graduating and only one underclassman guard on the roster, there is definitely a need at that position.

I'm not gonna severely bash Eaves because... who was the last coach we had that was better? It's been a while. But I will say that small guards hold his teams back, based on what he's trying to do. It just appears that we are going in the wrong direction, as far as talent is concerned. We are under achieving this year and will obviously be rebuilding next year. One has to ask, why are we in this position? It darn sure isn't because recruiting is up to par.
I can remember the coaching staff thinking that a player out of 'Lil Washington was the best player in the state, and that was the year Will Graves was at Dudley. They'll definitely make you scratch your head.

Where did the kid from little Washington go?...Clearly, Eaves( coaching staff) tends to overstate the abilities of players he signs or recruits. GUESS HE IS EXCITED ABOUT THEM....But everyone knows he did not think the kid was better than Graves.

I take it Eaves isn't allowed to step foot on The Patterson School grounds? They seem to have recruits on top of recruits. Any comment? Also, where are Eaves recruiting regions?

I have contacted Coach Eaves about recruits in my area and Eaves had contacted everyone of them via the high school coaches. Sometimes I don't even know about the contact until weeks later. All of these recruits went to bigger programs but I made sure that A&T was not "Johnny come lately" because I give them names of recruits that are in the 10th grade or are going into the 11th grade.
A&T barely missed out on one recruit that is having a very good year so far in his freshman year in the CAA. The kid wanted to come to A&T but his advisors thought otherwise.
It is not easy to good recruits and very good recruits to come to A&T. Just about all of the names that have been thrown around on this board, Coach Eaves or one of his assistants had made inquiries about them.
My main criticism of Coach Eaves recruiting has been his junior college recruiting. There should not be alot of projecting about JC players' future developments. They are what you see. If a player averaged 10 points per game as in the case of Jones then that is what he would most likely get or less when he comes into the MEAC. He will not averaged 20 ppg as Eaves stated prior to the season.

Coach Eaves followed up on two recruits here in Florida that I told him about, too. They have not made a decision on college yet.

Senior point guard Marc Hill is a driving force for Bishop McNamara. He has signed a letter-of-intent to play for North Carolina A& T. (By Preston Keres -- The Washington Post) McNamara's Hill Keeps On ClimbingBy Josh Barr Washington Post Staff Writer Thursday, January 10, 2008; PG12 The coach from an Atlantic 10 school had come to scout a different player. But as he sidled up to a high school assistant coach taking notes for an upcoming game, all he could wonder was: Who was that Number 10? Marc Hill, Bishop McNamara's diminutive point guard, had been in control on the court once again. And although he has signed a letter-of-intent to play for North Carolina A&T, his play continues to suggest he could have earned a scholarship to a much higher level of college basketball. "A lot of schools were going to wait until after the year to see what he did," McNamara Coach Marty Keithline said, noting that Hill's only other solid scholarship offers were from Morgan State and Wagner. "But he did a good job during the summer and wanted to get it over with." The big question about Hill has always been his size. McNamara's roster lists him at 5-foot-8. But Keithline noted the Mustangs' tough competition in the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference and said that Hill always has found a way to succeed. "Most people talked about that, but it's never been a problem for him," Keithline said. "He's always held his own. Some people have a mold they want to fit for their program, and it doesn't fit everybody." So as it turns out, North Carolina A&T might end up with a steal. Hill scored a team-high 16 points in Friday's 61-56 victory over Good Counsel. For the season, he is averaging 11.4 points with seven assists and shooting 49 percent from the field and 39 percent from three-point range. More importantly, he exudes confidence on the court and never seems to force things, whether it is getting to the basket, shooting from the outside or setting up teammates. "He does a good job letting the game come to him," Keithline said.

There are always going to be critics. I dont care if it Jerry Eaves or Dean Smith. Let the man do his job. Every team in the country has players that dont meet expectations. You win some and you lose some.
