This is why the RIGHT COACH is so important Fairleigh Dickinson won 4 games last year. Got a new coach, transfers and changed the culture at the school and won 2 games in the tournament Your information on Fairleigh Dickinson is not totally accurate. Below is additional information. Greg Herenda was FDU HC from 2013-2022. He is now an assistant coach at Elon. Tobin Anderson named FDU HC for the 2022-2023 season. They finished 2nd in regular season and NEC championship tournament behind Merrimack, but invited to NCAA because Merrimack was ineligible due to NCAA division reclassification rules Tobin Anderson won 1 D3, and 6 D2 conference championships in 9 seasons before taking the FDU HC job. FDU Accomplishments since 2013: 13 seasons, 6 NEC conference championship appearances, 3 NEC championships. 7 NCAA Tournament appearances in 12 years of eligibility. Won 1st NCAA Tournament game in 2019 and 2 NCAA Tournament games in 2023 upsetting a #1 seed Purdue. Bottom line is that FDU has mostly been elite in the NEC for years with occasional down years and Coach Anderson is carrying on their tradition. He did not change the culture. We will have a tougher path to travel towards consistent conference championship appearances whether we hire a D1 or D2 coach.

To compare the NEC to the CAA....you can't. The Northeast Conference is historically one of the weakest DI conferences in the nation.

To compare the NEC to the CAA....you can't. The Northeast Conference is historically one of the weakest DI conferences in the nation. Yet, FDU has accomplished many things we are striving to achieve in basketball at A&T. FDU is 3-7 in combined NCAA Tournament appearances. We are 1–12 in combined NCAA (1-10) and NIT (0-2) Tournament appearances. At that point, you play the team in front of you irrespective of conference associations. My main point of the post was to show that Coach Anderson was not a miracle worker taking over a team that won 4 games the previous season. The original poster nor I made an attempt to compare the NEC with the CAA. We both emphasized the importance of hiring the "right coach" for the job.

He went to NCAA in 2018-2019 Since then in 19-20 they went 11-19 2020-21 9-15 21-22 4-22 Don't make it seem their former coach just left cause it was a better job at Elon as an assistant lol. 3 years btw isn't occasional

You already stated in your original post that Coach Anderson took over a 4 win team. Did I really have to say he was fired? By the way, the team was hit heavily with Covid-19 in one or two of those last 3 seasons, but the administration still decided to make a change. I mentioned this in a previous post in this thread that Coach Anderson was hired in May, 2022. This did not give him much time to recruit players, thus one can assume he did a good job working with what he had and the committed recruits signed by the previous coach. Having 2 to 3 losing seasons between a winning season meets my definition of occasional/occasionally. Seldom would mean 1 to 2 losing seasons between a winning season to me. Below is my statement which you questioned my use of the word occasional. "Bottom line is that FDU has mostly been elite in the NEC for years with occasional down years"
