Out of that list I'd prefer Haith. The only one with HC experience and was named AP Coach of the Year. Also, had multiple seasons of 20 wins as a HC. You also must remember he had NCAA investigations at Missouri and Miami

The only one with HC experience and was named AP Coach of the Year. Also, had multiple seasons of 20 wins as a HC. You also must remember he had NCAA investigations at Missouri and Miami If the NCAA investigation led to a violation, suspension, or ban and was not related to physical abuse of someone (Bobby Knight is the only exception I know that got hired by Texas Tech after physical abuse of a player he coached at Indiana) or a criminal act, schools usually rehire these coaches. Rick Pitino was banned for coaching several years and he coached Iona vs UCONN in the NCAA on Friday. Both UMass and Memphis faced NCAA violations under John Calipari. Kelvin Sampson had violations at Indiana, but now coaches #1 seed Houston in the NCAA tournament. We all know about Jerry Tarkanian violations at UNLV who later coached at Fresno State. Rasheed Wallace past legal issues outside of basketball may harm his candidacy for head coach at A&T. I don't know, but Martin/Hilton will take all of this into consideration before hiring our next head coach.

Several interesting names have been mentioned in connection to the job. They include former UNC and NBA player Rasheed Wallace, Assistant Steve Smith on Leonard Hamilton’s staff at Florida State, assistant B. J. McKie on Steve Forbes’ staff at Wake Forest and Frank Haith an assistant to Penny Hardaway at Memphis. Does anyone know whether it is an NCAA violation for a school to contact another school's coaches for a future job during that sport's season? If not, there was no reason for us not to interview all of the above candidates during the MBB season to speed up the process. They are assistants not HCs. I hope we had been taking advantage of this time, if not a violation and the delay is due to the interviewing of targeted active HCs which we had to wait until end of their MBB season.

Memphis hired Penny Hardaway with 3 years high school coaching experience.
Why can’t A&T do the same with Rasheed?

Memphis hired Penny Hardaway with 3 years high school coaching experience. Why can’t A&T do the same with Rasheed? Because A&T don't have the money to rebound from a bad decision like Memphis. What takes Memphis 1-2 years to recover will take A&T 10-20 years.

At least let's try something different.

Memphis hired Penny Hardaway with 3 years high school coaching experience. Why can’t A&T do the same with Rasheed? Technically, they can if he has a college degree which is required under the A&T MBB head coach job description (not a NCAA requirement). Up to Martin/Hilton discretion. I believe Penny helped his friend Rasheed out by hiring him on his staff for a short time so that he could show some college coaching experience on his resume when applying for a college coaching job and not rely solely on his high school coaching and nba player experiences. I see nothing wrong with that since Rasheed did coach HS students prior. How was Rasheed's high school coaching record? Penny was a very good high school coach and recruiter before getting the Memphis job. He also brought 1-2 high caliber players from his high school with him when offered the job as insensitive.

If I'm getting surgery, I want the surgeon with the most experience and best record of success doing surgery on me.

With Rasheed, our bench would lead the NCAA in technicals.

according to wiki he was the coach at jordan hs from 2019-2021.
19-20 record 11-13 20-21 record 8-6
so resume not good at all. limited coaching experience and poor results when he was coaching.
In the words of Robin Harris(RIP). Who called that MF a piccolo player lol?

Seriously though, who would hire Rasheed Wallace over Frank Haith?
Seriously.

I tell you what...not anything against Wallace, really like the guy. But, I sure would throw a feeler out to Mike Anderson (former St. John's Coach) to understand his desire to coach on our level. I don't know what his asking price would be though.
