you have to be invited to a bowl game to make significant money on a bowl game... What do you consider significant? Because knowing you if I state bowl payout amounts per conference you'll say "but I said significant and that's not 'significant!'" Ain't trying to play them games today. You might not like it but it might happen. And if they decide it's not feasible it won't happen. While the administration is ambitious, they ain't stupid. They ain't finna try to drive through a brick wall. But they will try to figure out where the door is.

$20M in annual revenue won't do it, $40M might be close and that would still require a separate $50M in endowed funds. That's $90M in the bank the 1st season, not projections (ofc these are my numbers). This ain't happening next week, but there is definitely a needs assessment taking place to figure how and what it takes. WE ain't following the FAMU blueprint and there ain't no guarantee that it will ever happen, but there nothing wrong with putting a goal on the old Frigidaire!

well for starters, app state only made $925k in the new orleans bowl last year. you call that "significantly" more than the cb payout? hardly "head and shoulders" more than the cb, especially considering the cb pays out a total of $2 million. secondly, those "lower level" fbs bowl games ya'll wanna play in, most of them don't payout any more than the cb either.
if ya wanna make "significant" dollars from a bowl game, you'd have to play at the bcs level bowl games. a lot of those "lower level" fbs bowl games pay "LESS" than the cb and some of them "substantially less"...

WHat do YOU consider “significant?”
And what did we get the year we didn’t make the CB what did Sun Belt members who didn’t make any of the FIVE bowl tie-ins they have get?

One thing we're not mentioning here is that conference tie ins with bowl games means more money for the conference members, just like how the other MEAC schools got their revenue from our Celebration Bowl appearances

Source: Sun Belt Conference to receive $17.2 million from CFP, the third-highest amount for G5 conferences
The Sun Belt Conference has made strides in the college football landscape. The proof is in its share of money from the College Football Playoff. According to a source close to the Sun Belt, the conference will receive $17.2 million for the 2018 football season, which is the third-highest figure among the Group of Five conferences. The Mountain West will receive the highest amount with $20.4 million, followed by the American Athletic Conference with $18.8 million. The Sun Belt’s share is about $2 million higher than Conference USA ($15.6 million) and more than $3 million higher than the Mid-American Conference ($14 million). The Sun Belt will disperse the CFP money evenly among its member schools. Athletics departments can use that money for anything, such as increasing assistant coach salary pools or balancing Title IX obligations. The Group of Five is getting $86 million from the College Football Playoff this season, about $70 million of which will be divided evenly amount the five leagues. The remaining $16 million is dispersed based off of performance rankings by the six computer polls formerly used by the Bowl Championship Series — Anderson & Hester, Billingsley Report, Colley Matrix, Massey College Football Ratings, Sagarin Ratings, and Wolfe. The averages of those rankings determine the pecking order of payout. The Journal obtained an email sent to Sun Belt member schools’ chancellors and athletics directors from Benson. In the note, Benson pointed out that the financial outcome also means the schools with football programs will also receive an additional bonus in July following year-end reviews.Read Whole Article Here

Again these are my numbers. First you can't raise football's budget without increasing the budget of all other athletic programs, and I mean all. Therefore all sports need full-time coaches and max. scholarships, additional academic support, summer school, facility upgrades, other support staff, salary increases, etc. Student fees account for ~60% of the current $15M budget, we need to reduce that significantly. App State spent $36,853,981 in 2018. $40M won't enough in 5 or 10 years. College Athletics Financial Information (CAFI) Database
