Break out the champagne, we beat a DIII team by 4 points. We're on a roll now...where can I buy my MEAC tournament tickets?

The results from this game remind me back in 2011-12 when we needed overtime to beat Carver Bible College. That was Eaves' last year as our head coach. Fast forward to today. 2-12 record, with no DI wins to date. I'm still not giving up on this season yet, but anyone looking at this objectively knows the warning signs are glaring brightly.

Cy I thought you were going to be the man; never realized you couldn't recruit quality players. I'm wishing you the best; not going to buy any tickets though.

I never thought I would miss Jerry Eaves. We need a younger coach who can relate to these young players. Cy is not doing it. We might not win another game this year.

True Aggie,I really don't miss JE. However, our record and status as a viable team is the same under Cy as it was under Eaves. We are pitiful as a Division I team and program.

I understand; I'm just hoping Cy can pull it together. This year is a bust so hopefully he's looking for looking hard for some scorers. Even though he said that's what he brought in this year; he gets another chance to get it right.

So why did we think a coach that was failing at one D1 HBCU institution would come to A&T and suddenly start winning? Despite a rotten first season we all got excited when Cy pulled off big wins in the MEAC and NCAA. But now the party is over and it's just more bad basketball. 20 plus year of bad men's basketball. No amount of renovation and fresh paint on Corbett gym or loud crowd noise is going to make this team better.

Cy has won several championships; one would assume he's capable of repeating his actions. Also from outside appearance he assembled a very strong and capable staff.

coach cy deserves at least one more year despite the naysayers on this message board. again, i don't think folk really look at the composition of our team in terms of experience. we are a predominantly freshman/sophomore oriented team, only 1 senior who doesn't play very much, and only 3 juniors (one is a walk-on). so from an experience point of view, our team is very young.
yet, you look at the meac's top 3 teams right now (norfolk, nccu, hampton), their teams are led by juniors and seniors. its very naive to look at our roster without realizing how immature our team is. given that the bulk of our team are sophomores and that we've got some pretty decent d1 transfers who will be eligible next season, i think coach cy deserves another year to see this thing thru. wouldn't be fair to bring in another coach to take advantage of the building blocks coach cy has put in place after coach cy did all of the hard work to bring these guys in.
given the youth of our team, i can see why we struggle so much. but next year the bulk of our team will be juniors and our best player will be a senior. again, juniors and seniors make a big difference in the meac. there are no freshman/sophomore dominant teams in the meac who are amongst the best in the conference...

Our team is young in large part because of eligibility issues and transfers. Responsibility for both rests with the coach. This is going to get really bad. I haven't even been motivated to pick up my 4 season tickets from the ticket office.

yeah, i agree that coach cy bares some of the responsibility for having a very young team but i would not say he is 100% responsible. his first year here he acquired a team that was over loaded with seniors, if memory serves me correctly i believe we had like 7 seniors that year. so right off the bat for coach cy, he loses half his team to graduations. albeit, he won a championship with those seniors, but at the same time it was a rebuilding nightmare to replace so many seniors especially when your junior class is weak.
losing pack this year really hurts too since he would've been a senior for us this year and provided leadership along with bruce. pack would've gave us 2 "go to players" instead of just one in bruce and that would've made a lot of difference. but again, the coach is responsible for recruiting and retaining players. so losing pack is on the coach.
nonetheless, coach cy must keep the players he presently has and retain the transfers who are in waiting mode. if he does that, i think we will turn things around next year. also, bremmers will be a senior next year and i think he's gonna turn out to be a pretty good pickup for us...
