I like this move. However, I wouldn't be upset if we add Charleston Southern to our schedule in the future.
Great vacation destination for fans and a decent chance for an out-of-conference victory.

I hope that Elon will bring some fans to our stadium this time. During the last series we had with them our side in their staidum would be packed. When they came to Aggie Stadium they only brought about 50 to 100 fans. They made money off of us but we did not make anything off of them.

We need better promotion for this game. Its our home game, so we should promote it to get more people in our stadium. There are also other benefits to playing Elon.

Name a couple. All I can think of is travel distance and their membership in the SoCon.

Name a couple. All I can think of is travel distance and their membership in the SoCon. You just named my couple, LOL. I would add the building of a good home and home rivalry. Im not stuck on the fact that they dont bring fans. I think we can build that up and get more of their fan base in Aggie stadium if we make a decent attempt at it. Not necessarily packing the visitor side, but getting at least 1000 paying Elon fans would be a win. That's more than almost any other Socon or Big South team would bring. Ideas and suggestions should already be getting thrown around to make that happen. My first suggestion would be to play at Elon first(hopefully its setup that way). That would give us 2 years to put our plan together. My suggestion would be shuttle buses for Elon students with a game tickets. Give them their own tailgate area if you have to. Feed them hotdogs and hamburgers from the cafe if you have to. "2 Free hot dogs and drink at the Elon tailgate area on A&T's campus with ticket purchase. Free ride to game if you want." Stuff like that. Just get them there! Beat Elon campus up with promotions of the game. Get players together before the game and go on the radio. Make sure he Elon kids here the broadcast. PWCs dont travel well anyway, so we shouldn't be using that excuse for not playing Elon. I'd rather play them than Coastal or any other NC/SC FCS school. Not counting if App is willing to pay us again.

As long as we win the games, that's all that matters!

Another suggestion. "Coach vs Coach" webcast. Interview both coaches in the same room prior to the game. QB vs QB webcast. Get that up online Sunday evening. Promote it via twitter, myspace, both websites, etc, etc. How many times are schools close enough to have a "pre-fight" press conference? We can get over 1000 Elon fans in the stadium with a little bit of effort. That extra promotion would also get few more Aggie fans there as well.

See..my expectation is they will not bring that many folks to the game either. We need to fill our stadium with our own supporters nevermind, theirs. That's what gets me, we want to count on the other school to help us pack our stadium...seems backwards to me. We should solicit our own crowd to pack our stadium. So what if we pack their stadium...hooray for us! That's why the argument about VUL & WVSU doesn't hold water...in my opinion. If you support the program you will come to see them play...just that simple. Not about their fans...

Name a couple. All I can think of is travel distance and their membership in the SoCon. Most of the benefits are potentials and rely on building a rivalry. We have to add an incentive other than them having a winning team, like a trophy "The Carolina Cup". If they have a winning program they will show up in decent numbers. If I remember correctly the first two times they came to Aggie Stadium they came in decent numbers. After that one program or both sucked. 1 - Cost (travel) 2 - SOS (FCS member, SOCon) 3 - Recruiting upper hand (when we win) 4 - Rival (we need joint marketing to build it) 5 - Bragging Rights 6 - Fun for everybody

Ideas! This series can be rewarding for A&T. I like the "Carolina Cup" idea. Dont like the name, but like the idea, LOL. It can go along with the other promotions.

I love the Carolina Cup idea also.
There's no better photo op in college sports than when a team is holding up a fictional trophy after beating a big rival.
I would personally be willing to do some joint marketing with the elon fan website to get people excited about this matchup.

We should not care about other fans filling our stadium when they are more than 2 hours away, but they are so close that we SHOULD care about their fan base. That's leaving money on the table. Promote the game to both sides. We've taken the "we dont care" approach with Elon fans before and they dont show up. Lets actually give a damn for a change and see if they do show up and make us a little more money. We should always take this approach with NCCU, Elon, WSSU, UNCC, and maybe APP.
