Sidenote: Which rivalry is bigger Aggie Eagle Classic, or the Battle for the real HU? Ive never attended the latter, but I have heard it gets pretty dirty up there especially during a football game. the battle of the real "hu" is between hampton and howard, and doesn't come anywhere close to the aggie-eagle. the hampton/nsu "battle by the bay" rivalry does come close to the aggie-eagle, i've been there before. but it lacks the "hostility" and "hatred" of the aggie-eagle rivalry. the florida classic outnumbers in attendance any hbcu rivalry in the country, including the bayou classic (grambling/southern). but if we had disney world and all of the tourist attractions of orlando in north carolina, the aggie-eagle would rival the florida classic too...

the only rilvary that comes close to ours is famu/bcu Sent from my ADR6400L using ProBoards You must mean ours is the only one that comes close to FAMU/BCU. That game is HUGE! nope, the aggie-eagle classic doesn't come close to the florida classic. over the years, the fc "averages" well over 55k in attendance, and peaks around 65k. the aggie-eagle probably "averages" around 25k in recent years, if that. and i think the aggie-eagle surpassed 50k only once in our history. naw, let's not kid ourselves. we're a long way away from the florida classic. we'd have to import micky mouse and the guys to rival the fc attendance figures...

I think if were to move the game to Charlotte and make the weekend of the game more like a CIAA weekend, we might be able to put a dent in the Florida Classic.

As long as the Aggie Eagle is not on Labor Day weekend(or at least in September) it wont get anywhere near the Florida Classic. The weather is just not good enough in NC to have a 35K+ crowd in November.

Except for little ole Edward Waters, there aren't any other HBCU Football programs in Florida. This is a major event for all the Black Folks in the entire state.
Too many HBCU's in North Carolina for us to ever garner that type of attention...

The weather is just not good enough in NC to have a 35K+ crowd in November. i agree. it needs to be labor day weekend every year, that's the date that we saw attendance figures peak at carter-finley. charlotte is a good location, but i think raleigh is easier for both triangle and triad alums to get to. but imo, the key is playing the game labor day weekend as opposed to the last game of the season. both teams will be "undefeated" and optimistic for the new season. and weather is much more favorable during labor day weekend (albeit that we did experience a few hurricane threats). i think carter-finley has proved to be the best neutral site location and it would be completely off the chain if the game was played there at night, like starting at 6pm...

As mentioned as it CURRENTLY stands Aggie/Eagle will probably never match FC in terms of ATTENDANCE...
FAMU/BCU have a much more friendly rivalry in comparison to A&T/Central & unless things were to line up perfectly (meaning championship came down to the game between us & central) I couldn't see us matching those #s UNLESS
1) Aggie/Eagle is moved back to Labor Day Weekend
2) Game is played in Charlotte @ BOA with a # of Events & Functions leading up to & surrounding the game
3) People in Charge would need to really push & sell the game ALL SUMMER
4) STRESS the fact that this is the first conference game for both and the winner gets a leg up in the standings......(In other words at this point in the season we're playing for something other than just bragging rights)
5) TAP INTO THE SC Market (Due to Charlotte being right on the NC/SC border).....People in SC LOVE football and events (Run Ads in Columbia/Charleston/Pee Dee/Grand Strand Regions)

The individual schools have control over the game times unless its a televised game, then ESPN dictates the times. I always wanted night games in September because of the heat and then move to afternoon games in October and November. Makes sense.

I agree 100% these 1:30 starts are way to early for those of us who have to work on saturdays. Given the number of home games with some on back to back weekends it is difficult to get off that many times at 1:00 . It just makes sense to play at 6 in sept, 4 in oct. This provides to opportunty to make some money and bring our families to the games. We just went through this in basketball season with the early starts,. Will anyone listen to the fans and alums? i've been singing that exact song for several years, especially regarding basketball! i agree with you 100%! especially for loyal season ticket holding alums like myself who have to put in a 5 hour drive to get to aggie stadium from home. for me, the difference between 1:30pm starts versus 6pm starts means leaving home at 7am in the morning versus leaving at 11am in the morning. and on saturday mornings, who wouldn't want an extra "4 hours of sleep" before hitting the road for a 5 hour drive? i'd support any drive to open the eyes of our admins to start our saturday football and basketball games at a later time. matter of fact, somebody "pm" me mr. hilton's email address and i'll be glad to send him one expressing exactly that... ehilton@ncat.edu

I have been heavily involved in the Florida Classic for many years, now. The Aggie-Eagle Classic could reach the economic impact of the Florida Classic if it were moved to Charlotte and played during the Labor Day weekend, as stated by many already.
One thing that has not been mentioned is that Carowinds is a Paramount theme park and should be used as a cornerstone partner for a Charlotte-based Aggie-Eagle Classic.

I still don't understand why they weren't a part of the Rivalry Classic (A&T vs SCSU) when it was in Charlotte.

That game was held the same time NCCU vs A&T is currently being held at end of season right before Thanksgiving....
