Considering how we can't get any worse with the announcers, why don't they allow students who want to do that after graduation get some practice in the field they're going to be in? Like I said it can't get any worse Let me first say that I really really really dislike listening to 90.1. My only concern would be reliability when it comes to using students. Those guys travel and show up to EVERY game that they can. Not sure how much they are getting paid(if at all), but reliability means a lot. When Marty Freeman was doing the webcast for basketball and football a year ago it was excellent! When that comes back I hope he is still doing it. Then it would be: Free/Radio = (Amos and Andy) Paid/Subscription = (Marty and crew)

Marty referred to Lewis Kindle as Kindle Lewis throughout the Del State game.

And by the way, reliability counts for nothing if it's bad. I've listen to these guys for years and I think we could just pick 3 different guys at random out of the stands each week and find better announcers that what we got now. And based on what I've been hearing, I'd prefer using students to call the games. Even if we have to offer classroom credits to students in broadcasting to get them to sign up, I think it's worth it. The announcers we have now are not only bad for us "Die-Hard Aggies." They are not helping promote A&T in a positive light. We have a great stadium, a great football staff, a great fan base, a great football tradition and "Amos and Andy" game announcers. We have got to put an end to this now.

I love them. By the way where did Billy C go the last five minutes of the games. I notice that John Allen jumped in.

I don't think they get paid for calling the games. I don't know about their travel. Spencer Gywnn has been calling A&T games since 1962. Spencer is the only original member of the broadcast crew. Mel Swann is no longer with the crew, due to health issues. Whether you like them or not, Spencer has shown up for every game no matter what. He has been very reliable as Aggie Monster stated. I know it can be very frustrating listening to them, but it is what it is. Until we can find someone else to do it for free, guess what!!!

I feel your pain Aggies, Norfolk State broadcasts have been bad for years too. It very hard to listen to our announcers that when I do listen there are time when I just turn down the volume on the radio dial. By the way the coach who doing all of that cursing is our offensive coordinator Mr. Blackwell and I do apologize for his foul mouth

I'm not sure if he has ever missed a game or not. He is in the hall of fame for playing football at A&T. From what I hear he was really good (RB).

Spencer Gywnn is a "die-hard" no doubt but let's honor him at the end of this season by having "Spencer Gywnn" day when we play NCCU and bring someone else in for next year. Billy C. can be the 4th man as an alternate next year.
I think the other guy's name is Al Swann (Mel Swann is not in good health). At least that is what Spencer called him (Al Swann) and you all know how much names get f**cked up on 90.1 football. He was much better than than Spencer or Billy.
There are plenty of people who will take the job for free, Spencer and crew just have to move out of the way.
Spencer Gywnn was a two-way playa back in the day (as most playas were). He really excelled as apunter and holds or held the record for the longest punt in A&T history.
Maybe we can get him out of the booth and get him to replace our current punter!!!!!!!!!!!

This is great. We've gone from complaining about our awful football announcers to now trying to figure out how to honor them on their way out the door. Now if we can get the Chanselor or AD or who in the hell is responsible for this comedy act to pull the plug on these guys. I think we all in agreement they need to go so who in the adminstration do we need to get that message to? Hell by the first home game of next year A&T football fans may bring their radios to the game and listen to the announcers during the game. Now that's a dream. Go Aggies!

I think errrrrrbody in their right mind knows these guys are incompetent and this should be their last year. But have some class (look how we bungled firing Bill Hayes--hint, hint).
Spencer Gywnn has been "calling" the games for over 30+ yrs and does not get a nickel profit and volunteered when nobody else would do it.
The man is a "true" Aggie and desrves to go out the right way. Maybe some people don't have the understanding of what has transpired in those 30+yrs but let's do it right.
That being said, "they don't have to go home but they need to get the heck out of the booth."

GREAT comments aggie2ru; of course they should have been GRACEFULLY "moved ON" 10 years ago; the fact that they are Hardly Paid, is a RIDICULOUS point to make regarding acceptable performance...if a Dr. does heart surgery FOR "F" FREE, does that mean Dr."s got a RIGHT to ---botch-- THE SURGERY, b/c it was done for FREEEEEE??? H*** NOOOOOOO

noexcuses...u putting ur own twist on this thing. I never used the fact that they don't get paid as an excuse for their incompetence.
U need to take a reading course AND a comprehension course then u will understand fully what I said. In fact, who have YOU talked to in ADMINISTRATION about making a change. I certainly have. Have you???
