We actually pay someone to bring in revenue to athletics. When someone holds him accountable for his job, you will see a REAL CHANGE at NCA&TSU

I think you're missing the fact that we could take all those people who are chilling for free, charge them five bucks to come into the game zone, and make money. Hey, for those folks that have been chilling out at Aggie Stadium for free all these years, they will still complain about paying five bucks. So here's the deal, you can buy a ticket, get inside with the paying patrons, chill out and tailgate or you can take your broke non-paying self over to the city park and hang out for free. People, you folks have spent days complaining about paying $35 to hangout on a college campus. How about spending some of your time figuring out how A&T can raise some serious money for it's football program or how we can recruit some better players. Stop whinning about paying a few bucks and do something positive for your dear A&T! If paying for a ticket runs some of those free-loading tailgaters off, so be it. People that really support A&T are not going to stop coming because they have to buy a damn game tickets. You ain't never lied!!! ;D HOF post!!

The thing I think you're missing is simple:
The problem isn't getting money from "real Aggies." The problem is there ain't enough "real Aggies" to fund a d-1 program. The problem is getting money from "freeloaders" as y'all like to put it and other folks who aren't necessarily interested in funding the football program. Telling folks they can take their broke non-paying self somewhere else isn't going to make the program one dime is it?
You want to make some serious money for the football program? Find a way to get it from the broke non-paying folks. You want to recruit some better players? Get some more money.
The debate centers on something pretty simple. The anti folks (I've moved over to indifferent) don't want to alienate potential supporters. I hope I put it in terms folks can understand because up to now I've done a poor job of doing so.

I know that some may not want to hear this but I'll say it anyway. The community is your cash cow. Start recruiting some of the good white talented players in the greensboro area! They have been recruiting black kids for years right under A&T'S nose. Now it's time for us to recruit their Kids. You want sponsorships then sign a few white players and see what happens.

I agree. The Game Zone initiative is here to stay. AD Earl Hilton has said multiple times that the Game Zone initiative is purely revenue driven. He/we should stay the course on this initiative. As much as I hated it (past tense), what was worse is the idea of not supporting A&T athletics at all. Yes, the rules changed. However, there are plenty of places on campus to tailgate without purchasing a game ticket. Most notably is the Laurel St. lot.
Regarding the attendance for homecoming, does anyone think that if the Game Zone was not in existence this year that attendance would have been greater??? Believe it or not, there were folks who paid to enter the Game Zone & still did not realize that they could enter the stadium! We won't say that they are not intelligent, just uninformed.
In summary, A&T still has 'game ticket NOT required' tailgating. A&T athletics needs increased funding. People are still going to attend games inside the stadium only if they desire to. The Game Zone isn't going away. So, yes, we need to let this go & focus on our student athletes, obtaining more corporate sponsorships for A&T and continuing to find ways to increase revenue.
Now...on to Norfolk State.

Dooms I disagree totally. The key to raising Div I type funds has nothing to do with charging or getting rid of free loaders. Ive been to plenty of Div I games this year (ECU, VTech, NC State, UNC). They have just as many free loaders as we have and dont charge for a "fan zone". The key to raising money and excitement is sponsorship plain and simple. Taking money from the Poor folks that just want to experience the excitement wont get A&T anywhere. Its even in the numbers. Even if 5,000 buy a game zone ticket every game, that's a small drop in the bucket of a Multi-Million Dollar Program. Get a real marketing/sponsorship plan like a real Division one school and you will never ever have to worry about what folks are doing outside the game. Know why folks are hype at NFL/top-tier college games?: 1)Free Giveaways (Shirts, Towels, Noise Makers) 2)Crowd Contests (Hypest sections gets showed on screens) 3)Announcers (Keeps the crowd in the game) An HBCU has far more elements at play on gameday than a PWI. We pride ourselves on the "State Fair/ Family Reunion" atmosphere of our game days, if we want to redirect that culture then it takes alot more than just a notion.

I'm not saying that's the only way to raise funds at all. I'm saying don't turn away potential revenue sources.
I agree with all you said. The thing you're forgetting is we aren't a "real" division one school by a long shot. That's why we institute a game zone. We're not even close to comparable to an ECU, a Va Tech, an NC State, or a UNC. If UNCG ever started a football team (heaven forbid) we wouldn't even be the top dog on Market Street anymore. We primarily appeal to black folks (the same ones we call freeloaders). ECU, Va Tech, NC State, and UNC primarily appeal to everybody. That's why you went to their games and almost zero of their fans came to ours. There are a number of d-2 schools with more appeal in their cities than we have in ours. It just goes with the territory. Personally, I have no idea how to change that.

A&T needs to apply a multicultural approach to the community. We are not showing Diversity by only appealing primarily to one type of Culture base with in the community. Dooms is right in saying (f UNCG ever started a football team (heaven forbid) we wouldn't even be the top dog on Market Street anymore). I have no Idea who is over the Marketing for A&T's sports programs but who ever it is, that person or persons needs to STEP UP ARE GET UP.

Dooms What would you say are the top problems with our current game day experience?

I haven't been to a game this year so I can't say anything about our current game day experience. I'm not so sure I went to one last year either.
When I was going, these were the problems I saw: We didn't charge for parking and the ticket prices were too high.
That's about it.
