Man some of yall be killing me at times with all this Sunday morning quarterbacking and most of you never played a down football in your life just sitting in the stands of games hatin talking about what you could have done if you were giving a chance or living off what you did in high school what you fail to recognize is if you were down on field playing it would be one of two things first you would look just like kids who are playing or you would look much worst I tend to believe it’s the second option. What you all fail to realize or just plain ignore is that besides up front every position on the field you have to be coached up. You can take your o line and d line for the MOST PART and who ever has the biggest and STRONGEST interior will dominant that part of the game with little technique period point blank. It is the same thing every year with some of you always complaining about the players maybe it’s the coaching or the scheme. You say he was playing soft so since I did not see the game I am going to assume he was playing off so how or what was he coached in practice? The coaches film every practice if he was playing “soft” how come it wasn’t corrected in PRACTICE before the game. Or maybe it’s the scheme and all you see is the db maybe it was some type of cover 3 buzz where the corner has deep third and a lb or safety has the underneath routes you don’t know I don’t know so leave the kids alone DAMN….they are not professionals they are doing what they are coached to do start talking about who is teaching the technique you do not like yeah they may have their schooling paid for I ask you aggiepride1985 and saabman what you so mad at did you get cut from the walk on tryouts and feel that you are better than the kids who are playin did you have to pay for your school and you cant pay back your student loans and you are mad at that world just stop….you can have so called 5 star athletes come in and they will look the same as the dbs that are playing now. Db’s wr and especially qb are crafty positions you have to be coached you can not use what you were learned in high school at this level A few observations: 1. The thinking that you don't have to coach technique to the offensive and defensive lines is one of the main reasons hbcus are constantly losing to pwcs. Can't agree with you swagga. 2. I agree that the kids need to be coached up. They also need to be put in the proper position to succeed. I have trouble blaming a kid when he's put into a position with no coaching and/or where he never had a chance to maximize his potential. 3. Personal attacks aren't necessary. The people you are attacking will generally pay more attention to the attack than to anything you have to say that actually has merit. 4. There's a button on your keyboard that will allow you to break all those thoughts into seperate paragraphs. Try it out. I took the time to respond because I think you have some very good points in that massive paragraph, but they're kinda hidden.

while i don't condone needless criticism of athletes, i do feel "fans" should have the right to express their opinions of an athlete's performance whether its good or bad. i know it may not be easy for the athlete, his/her family, and friends to accept. but it comes with the territory when you sign up to participate in college athletics. if you have trouble dealing with fan criticism, regardless to whether the criticism is valid or not, you may want to choose another hobby.
monday morning quarterbacking, armchair quarterbacking, or whatever you want to call it, comes with the territory in college and professional athletics. if a kid can't take it, then he probably shouldn't be playing football in the first place.
this ain't pop warner no more. kids in pop warner leagues shouldn't be subjected to such public criticism, they're only kids. but college athletes are "young adults" who are old enough to be dodging bullets over in afghanistan. where i grew up, criticism of your athletic performance only served as motivation to prove your critics wrong and that's how we dealt with it.
so my suggestion for the athlete is, if the criticism isn't valid, then move on. your coaches are the ultimate judges of your performance and they know what you're capable of. if you're family or friends of the athlete and the criticism isn't valid, then you have the right to set the record straight by expressing your own opinions in the same forum. but if the criticism is valid, then the athlete should prove his/her critics wrong. there's no better way to shut up your critics than to prove them wrong...

I generally try to refrain from calling out individual players ... except for when I think they are wasting their potential.
The Heartbreak Kid could have been a good college quarterback but he was more interested in being a good Que.
Same with my man Derek Gould. Nobody has supported him more than me on this site but he's got to start focusing less on twirling a kane and more on running his routes and catching the football. The last thing you want these kids to do is look back at their time here and have a bunch of regrets.
In this particular offense Derek Gould has the potential to finally put up some big numbers and catch some touchdown passes. The question is how bad does he want to be successful?

Ok I said for the most part if your interior is bigger and stronger that team will dominant that part of the game because in college you will be able to push someone around more without using as much technique. No one offensive or defensive lineman coming out of college will be "NFL" ready some will be more prepared than others but there will be things that have to be coached up.
Personal attacks I am not the one who said a kid is just flat out terrible, Im not the one who title a thread who is #29, and I am not the one who said that someone should not have a scholarship the following year. However I am sick and tired of coming on this site seeing grown men (maybe) bashing student athletes so I do apologize for having such along paragraph not spacing my thoughts out but when I see people making PERSONAL ATTACKS on student athletes it does fire me up and I can get long winded. So thank you for taking time out your day to read my thoughts but maybe if you have a problem me wanting to speak up for these kids maybe the administrators on this site would not allow fans to criticize players.
And thats real reason why main reasons hbcus are constantly losing to pwcs.

Again, your personal attacks will make people ignore what are actually good points you brought up. If that's your aim, then attack away.
If your aim is to get these guys to understand your point of view, try explaining your point and explaining that it's unnecessary for them to personally attack the player.
I don't have a problem with you speaking up for the kids. Hell, I did the same thing in this thread before you even posted. Do you notice the difference in the way I did it and the way you did it? My goal was to get people to THINK. What's yours?

No, the reason HBCU's lose to people outside of the MEAC and SWAC is because we dont play disciplined football.
While I agree with you on the personal attacks its not stoping us or any other HBCU from winning a game. Personal verbal attacks on a student athlete are wrong but there is nothing wrong with calling out a talented student athlete who is more focused on social activites.
I can not agree with you on bigger stronger line wins. I give you a perfect example my 10 year old youth team line averages 150 pounds (its Texas). We dominated at the point of attack however a team scored a 80 yard sweep on us this weekend because my def. end chose to get sucked to the inside. Discipline football results in your DE forcing everything inside espically when a corner is blitzing .
My friend thats what schools outside of the MEAC and SWAC do with sometimes not so talented student athletes. I have faith we are gone get there with Coach Broadway!!!!

I feel ya hollywood. The calling out was a little much. Especially since we beat VUL 38-7. How can you even call a corner out with a score like that.
But dooms is right. Just say something like I just said. No need to go off.
Now I criticize players all the time, but I always say why. Now that I look back at the original posts on this thread they were not actually that bad.
"Who is 29, is he a freshman?" "He cant play. 2 games bad" "he didn't play against app". which makes the comment above null and void and obviously someone that wasn't really paying attention. And since we beat VUL 38-7 it should have stopped there.
Then it goes to T. Webb.
This is a fan board so people are entitled to say what they want. I am subject to say someone sucks every once in a while myself, but its probably after they get to much undeserved praise and/or to many excuses are made for them, LOL.
Raper is my Thrilla's Derek Gould. Lots of potential and I hope he pulls it together so I can give him his real last name back.

People can ignore what I say because I do the same thing when I read some of the post on this site with the criticism of student athletes. Obviously I did not articulate myself well enough because I do not think fans should criticize amateur athletes.
Are these athletes public figures yeah maybe but should we be able to blast them the same way we do professional athletes? I will say no this is not their job they are not getting paid to play they are STUDENT athletes which in my opinion they should not be held to such high standards especially since they are not getting coached by professional coaches.
I look at the players that were on the winless teams here that went on to play professionally when there were a lot of post saying there was no talent on the team or were they not playing to their potential. Everyone just assumed it was the players and not the coaching. Every year it is the same thing lets get better players in and once the new recruits come its the same ol story. We are holding the wrong people accountable.
Lastly, I do not see what I said to be thoughtless. I feel that if one questions or make comments regarding someone the same should happen to you. I do not think former players question or make negative comments about current players. Because we know the undertakings being a student athlete. If you have no idea what it takes to be a student athlete to me you can not judge. My personal attacks were aimed at the ones who were attacking the student athlete I have no problem with you DOOMS I think your post are well informed but you say you wanted people to think well I just came out and said what needed to be said. I do not know reasoning behind them taking shots at players and I was curious to know since this was not the first thread taking shots with players on the team,

I can understand you getting a little heated man, I just didn't want your good points to be ignored, because they're very good points. Or at least I think so, because I agree with them.
I've always been of the belief that it's the coaches' job to get the best out of the players and put the best players on the field. If 29 and T. Webb aren't able to get it done as dbs, whose fault is that? And whose job is it to correct their performance or replace them in the lineup? It ain't theirs, that's for sure, so there's not much point in blaming them in my opinion. It's the coaches' job to put them in a position to succeed (or fail).
Now, I don't go so far as to believe the players should be shielded from any criticism whatsoever. But I do think you have to look at the total picture before you go calling a kid out.

hollywoodswagga : One thing about this thread is you can always go back to see what you said. THIS IS WHAT I SAID "(Then # 29 needs to step up his game. It's not like the old days when you sign your scholarship your 4 years are Guaranteed. Now it's a year by year Evaluation . So if his play doesn't show improvement he may come up short on the scholarship funds next year!!)" That statement was not a PERSONAL ATTACKS that is just FACT.!!!! Also I'm not going their with you on some PERSONAL FELLED RHETORIC ATTACK BAG !! But I will let you know this: Technique & Discipline Is Everything in Football.!! Need I say more?? You will find some of the best Football minds on this site. Some of us are Coaches and some not! BUT WE ALL NO THE GAME, And we Respect each Others opinion . You could say we agree to disagree !! But you stated that the Real reason for your statements "(And thats real reason why main reasons hbcus are constantly losing to pwcs.)" WE LOSE BECAUSE WE DON'T PLAY WITH ANY KIND OF Discipline. WE welcome you to the room! ;D

For the record. I always blamed coaching. Just ask oleschoolaggie, LOL
While I did blame coaching 95% of the time I dont think players should be shielded. No one is shielded. It just hurts when its about someone you know or care for or maybe its about you.
If it hurts that bad then dont read the message board. I used to cover high school athletics and I made it a point not to criticize players publicly because of the points you brought up. But in college these young men are in front of cameras, they tweet, they boast and brag about how great they are. They are the same age as players at Auburn, Nebreska, UNC, NC State. Those guys get blasted on Message boards AND legitimate news outlets. Get tougher skin! You cant want to be big time SOME of the time. You have to take the good with the bad. Would these same players be whining to the local newspaper if they played for NC State and the News & Observer said they sucked?

Message boards have revolutionalized how fans get and give info. Never censor fans or people who care. Even if their are some ignorant people sometimes. Examples:- If not for this board and allowing OPEN opinions half of us wouldnt know JACK sheeet about A&T football and probably wouldn't care until homecoming.
- If not for this board the band wouldn't be in the new spot.
- "Miller Time" would never been born
- Larry might not be "paper"
- I wouldn't have my pretty PC wallpaper of A&T football.
- Fan Zone may have blindside thousands of people.
- No one would even know WHY we sucked(APR, coaching, budget). We would just suck.
- Me, Thrilla, Oleschool, Kev, AggieOne, etc ,etc would be bored as Hell at work or fired for surfing something inappropriate. IN turn decreasing the average salaries of A&T grads, LOL.
Bottom line is that by not allowing people to give there opinion(good or bad) you have less fans. Less fans = less money = bad for A&T football. Spectator sports have critics. Always will, so no need to complain about it. Just get better!

Yes you are correct Aggie Monster those are the same reasons why I come to this website at least four times or more a day during football season. Again I have no problems with people voicing their opinions it just got a bit much. While I do not know the game plan or what the secondary is being taught at the end of the day these are kids. This website is a popular site for players and fans to single out players for a bad game well they will hear about in the locker room around the yard etc....it might be tough to regain their confidence with always being reminded of a game.
Should they have tougher skin work harder yeah but with what resources do they have to get better is there a proven coach now I will not put it all on the coach at the end you have to be able to make plays but what makes a coach as DOOMS said you have to know what players do well and not so well and be able to put them in the best situation to succeed Thats all I do not feel if the entire secondary played poorly its not just their fault.
Now I do not go on other schools blog sites so I do not know how fans react to poorly played games but I do know when I watch college football live or college gameday when a player has a bad performance its "QB play needs to improve" "PG play has to step up" I am not sure how many times I have heard a players name do we know who the players are yes do they say their name not 100% on that and I could very well be wrong but I know it is general not specific.
