...and I thought St Paul was ridiculous. Dudley and Smith high schools would give us better competition.....

For all practical purposes UVL is nothing more than a glorified club team. Hopefully we won't try to schedule down like this in the future.

looks to me broadway/hilton didn't want to budge from the 9/3 date and this is all they could come up with. personally, i preferred scheduling a cupcake. but dang! this goes further than a cupcake. but i'm still okay with it as long as its a one time thing. the game may not be pretty, but bcu opened their season with edward waters last year and no one complained about that "w". i'm sure they could've done better, but st. paul's withdrawal came late in the year which very much limited our options. oh well, bring 'em on. all i want is the "w" and a chance to dry run our new system before heading to app state. as i've said before, i don't care if we play the local pop warner team. geeesh, looks like i got my wish...

wca - this is as close to a non-game as there possibly is. I must say, I'm terribly disappointed with this. I said that I'd be at Aggie Stadium to watch us play a weak DII opponent like St Paul or JCSU.....but Lynchburg - seriously, this is a waste of time. I'm not mincing any words here ---- A COMPLETE WASTE OF A COLLEGE FOOTBALL WEEKEND. THIS GAME SHOULD BE OPENED TO THE PUBLIC. To charge this with season tickets is absurd. I realistically don't think I can go see this game @ Aggie Stadium. The Aggie coaching staff could make better use of its time that weekend by buying tickets at Lane Stadium and studying App St, as they play Va Tech. Lynchburg ----- wow!!! Shaking my big head.....

We can't seriously charge an admission fee for this. Do they have a coaching staff, do they even have a team yet? They must have two teams, Coppin is playing their "B" Team! I rather play ten games than what amounts to a 1st year Club Team. This is worst than a spring game. www.vul.edu/Basketball also started in September 2010. VUL has a new basketball coach, Robert Cabler, who also works as director of the university’s computer lab. Cabler played basketball for Rustburg High School. The team will compete in a Lynchburg church league."

Well...I agree with most of you guys. We'd be bette off leaving Labor Day as an open date (and just have regular practice) than play this squad in a so-called "game."
Since no game is a "sure win," this needs to be called off.
When I was working in FAMU Athletics back in the early 80s, we scheduled a "sure win" game with a school that was re-starting football for the first time since World War II. It was the opening game of the season for both teams (yes...Labor Day Weekend), and a lot of folks were grumbling for scheduling such a "cupcake to begin with. Anyway, that cupcake team...GEORGIA SOUTHERN...beat the Rattlers' azzes all up-and-down the field that day. MORAL: Be careful who you schedule and who you consider "cupcakes" and "sure wins.
