You're right Decks. A whole lot of BS and flat out lies are being thrown around because a favorite son was let go and some folks just can't get past that.
My source tells me that it will Andrew Sagote (6-2,315) and Juan Williams (6-3,295)at the guards,Tim Bess (6-2,325) at center, Desmoine Ware (6-3,285) at strong side tackle and Chad Wiley (6-4,275) on th weak side going into camp. That's four juniors and a senior.
Anyone of three incoming freshmen (Cohen, Valmont, and Harper) of the five high school O-linemen signed a have a decent shot plus one other transfer to push for a starting spot.

So far it looks like Bess has lost about 20 lbs. Hopefully that's a good sign because he really looked slow at 345.

Hell, he'll look slow at 325. But I think he's smart enough to be able to more than offset his lack of speed with proper coaching.

Uh, Econgrad, where did I "lay on" Fobbs in the first place?... DOOMS, my brother. I read your writings on this message board often, and usually agree with most of what you say. However, I'm not going to get into a pissing contest with you regarding Coach Fobbs; and, I stand by what I said. Fobbs is no dummy. He has to know (given A&T's proud athletic history, as well as the hard times we've experienced in recent years) that we all expect/demand a winning program. If he doesn't produce in a reasonable amount of time (the term of his contract, 3 to 4 years I guess -- excluding unfavorable conditions he can't control) I'll be one of the first to shout, "Fobbs, your time is up". Until then, he is all we have and I'm praying he will be able to turn this thing around. I'm sure he reads this message board occasionally at least, and it would be encouraging to see expressions of positive support and a little less of the negatives. I honestly believe we're going to have a very good year. But then, that's me... the eternal optimist, as my wife calls me.

Ok, but none of that addresses the issue I raised. You quoted a statement I made that specifically concerned how we as an institution have treated former affiliates and how it has come back to bite us in the a$$ and then told me to "lay off" Fobbs as if one had anything to do with the other. I asked you when I got on is case and your response again has nothing to do with where I did some character assassination of the man. Instead it has something to do with posting "good news" about our 0-11 program that hasn't won in well over a year and hasn't had a close game in a season.
It's incredulous that you would type that you're "not going to get into a pissing contest" with me and then immediately thereafter type damn near the same things I've typed about him for months. If we feel the same way in the first place why are you defending him from nothing that was stated? That's like invading a country for weapons of mass destruction they never had nor claimed to have.
It's not my responsibility to put a positive or negative spin on A&T . I'm brutally honest, to a fault and the honest truth is nobody alive has seen this team win in over a year and nobody has seen a game that where we have bothered to be competitive under Fobbs.
I'm sure he reads the message boards too and if he doesn't realize the foregoing then me putting a positive spin (somehow) on it isn't going to help or hurt his coaching ability or his time as coach.
If you want to read some positives from me wait until the day after we win a game by outplaying, outexecuting and outscheming the opposition. Then there might be something positive to talk about. Until then I'll keep typing my opinion and hopefully people will refrain from misreading it.

If I can play mind reader, I think econgrad71 took umbrage with the fact that you went out of your way to create a negative hypothetical scenario involving Fobbs' handling of this program.
I stated in a previous post that he should run all the malcontents like japan off the team and you came back with "what if Japan becomes a head coach and refuses to send his brother to play for A&t".
Huh? That is a glass half empty outlook.
It often seems like when you are presented with the equal choice of looking at something about A&T football in a positive light or a negative light, you often choose the latter.
Hell, I guess thats why you're named Doomsday: The Grinch that stole Kwanzaa.

First, if that was the case why not just say so? I don't really want to drive all over the east coast just to get from Greensboro to High Point.
Secondly I wasn't looking at it as positive or negative, nor was I "going out of my way .to create a negative hypothetical scenario involving Fobbs' handling of this program." Again, it was "what if." Period. My main point was stated in the first two sentences of the scenario and the whole scenario was clearly not directed at Fobbs, but at you in order for you to understand my point. A point you've missed twice now. Re-read it, think about it, and I'll consider removing your F grade I'm currently giving you for reading comprehension.

p.s. before it actually does turn into a pissing contest, I want y'all to understand that the scenario I typed was not a dig at Fobbs nor was it a a show of support for Japan, it was a scenario that I used purely to illustrate my main point. My main point was in my opinion running players off ultimately isn't good for the coach, the player or the program. It isn't good for any coach, any player or any program. There are better ways to handle the situation.
Small's approach to coaching was that the coaches and the team were a family. Results be what they were I do agree with the premise. The team and coaches should be a family unit. You will never find a family that doesn't include some dissension. Disciplining players is akin to disciplining your children and that is commendable. Players jabbing off happens in every program. When I mouthed off to my pop he spanked me or punished me, then he explained his reasoning and I either understood it or I didn't. Either way it was still his house and that much I understood loud and clear. At the end of the day we all ate dinner at the same table. He didn't "run me off" and I didn't decide to go off and not do my best because I didn't get my way that day or run away from home like a little jerk.
I used Japan and Fobbs in my scenario because I figured everybody reading would relate easier to these two than if I'd used "player a" and "coach b." For the last time, this is not a dig at Fobbs and it's not a positive nor a negative.
Again, I'd prefer the kids bought into Fobbs' system than leave the team all disgruntled and put bad information out there about our program to potential recruits. I'm aware that some people are beyond convincing but the vast majority only need the smallest bit of personal time and just need to know the coach gives a damn about them. Is Japan a lost cause? I don't know. That's for him and Fobbs to decide.

DJ98, Carter is just fine. He's been working out extremely hard this summer, lifiting and running with a good friend of mine who is an ex-NFLer and UNC lineman that I work with daily in my office.
He has firmed himself up considerably for the physical transistion to college ball and now benches close to 400 pounds. He has added about 12 pounds of muscle since signing day and trimmed his waistline - going about 298 and 6-4 now. Academically, he is an honors student so no summer school necessary.
Mel tells me the biggest thing Adrian needs now is a little more "mean" in him but his work ethic is off the chart.

Ware is still academically on the bubble, as he was ineligible for spring drills. If we have ineligible players that are juniors/seniors in the class, they need to be in BOTH sessions. If not for football's sake, than merely academically, so that they can matriculate to graduation in a timely fashion.
