Rumor mill has it that Lee will be in charge of that side of the ball in practice this week. Does anyone have any great expectations from either side of the ball ( with Lee coaching defense), even though msu is the foe???

We ain't got no beef in the trenches. There's no way for us to stop the run. And everybody has figured it out. You just can't scheme around that. You can scheme around losing a qb (well, you should be able to). If we stack the line they'll just throw the ball over our heads. And I've noticed we're so light that even if we stack the line, we won't stop the run. So why stop what's working against us? Running keeps our defense on the field and tires them out, while it keeps their defense off the field and keeps them fresh. You see the conundrum? all i know is that we ran almost as many plays as they did. and despite the lopsidedness of the score, tsu only had the ball 10 minutes more than we did for the entire game, there's 60 minutes total in regulation play. and even that's misleading because we threw 22 incomplete passes which stops the clock. tsu only had 12 incompletions, so their offense kept the clock running. so i don't even want to hear any excuses about us being tired. well, if we can't scheme around having no beef in the trenches, then folk need to stop blaming the oc for the woes of our defense. call a spade a spade. stop blaming everything on one person...

You're right oleschool, no point in blaming the oc for bad defense. But we can probably blame him for bad offense. Unfortunately, right now the whole team is just bad.
10 minutes is a looooong time in the time of possession game. I didn't check the stats so I don't know for sure if they had it that much longer than we did. But if so, I see why we lost.
I'm surprised they threw it enough to have 12 incompletions, considering the success they had running the ball.
If you have no defense, you generally have two choices. You can try to score constantly (the best defense is a good offense strategy) or you can try to hold the ball and keep your defense off the field. Right now we don't seem to be too good at either.
Really, you can scheme around the loss of a qb, but you can't really scheme around no d-linemen. Not if the other team runs right at you.
Sixties, I hope the rumor is wrong. Lee needs to be managing the team, not just the defense. If he feels he didn't hire the right people to manage the respective sides of the ball, then some folks need to go at the end of the year. He's not doing himself or his employees any favors if he has to do their job for them.
I have a saying I tell my employees. Actually, I have a lot of them, but the one that comes to mind is "if I have to do your job, what do I need you for?"

Well, I'm gonna say this....great/good coaches surround themselves with great assistants. You've never seen an instance where you had a great/good coach with poor assistant coaches. Just doesn't work like that. Great/good coaches listen to his assistants as well...he doesn't trump all of the play-calls that his assistants make. I mean, look at the blue-print on any level of football and it's the same. The so-called great/good coach always have great assistant coaches....so that would be the formula to success in football.

Let me get this straight, we only had one QB and he went down before the season, and we have no beef on the defensive line. What the heck happen to the all of these players, people were crowing about last year and this spring? Why don't Coach Lee have the players? This second APR penalty takes effect this upcoming recruiting season.
You guys probably don't know this but getting another OC for next year will most like cost A&T more money.

Jazz, We have to start winning or we risk losing money on poor attendance. It's a catch 22 situation. We need money badly. That's really the dilemma or challenge that the Chancellor and W. Brown are facing. Especially the Chancellor, he probably can't make any personnel moves or request any because of the financial situation and the many personnel changes made under other regimes. However, he may fool all of us and make big changes in 2011. Hopefully, by the fall of 2011 problems in athletics will have improved or disappeared

as an avid fan and parent of one of the players, my son is very dissapointed in the attitudes of some of the players. He plays 80% of the game and gets his in when the opportunity arises. You'll see more of him as the years go by. Not being biased, but no one is mistake free. Its more difficult when you're out-sized, which he usually can shake a giant out of his face and get to where he wants to be and needs to be, but like yesterday Morgan State was Holding onto him and other players like a Bra strap the entire game and we only saw their laundry a handful of times, I have the footage!! . Historically A&T has to play 2 games, the opposing team, and the REFEREES.. Offense~ Ricky Lewis is Spark the Offense needs. among the other RB's. I'm not discounting anyone's talent, but IMO, he is better than Morgan. That Kid has Michael Vick audacity. Speed! And he doesn't BROADCAST where the football is in his hand. Statistically, when Lewis is in, we move the chains. Then they take him out and put #19 Morgan in and we wind up 3 and out. Lewis got us into strike territory...Morgan jumps in and Bam Interception!!!! Also, just like usual when we make progress, there's always Laundry on the field and all the efforts we make get taken away by stupid aS$ed Penalties. We could take all the penalties we get in a typical game and that yardage could be used to our advantage. Why not leave Lewis in so the Defense won't be on the field 78-90% of game. They get Tired... Lewis moves chains, isn't afraid to run, can read holes and continues to progress a foot or two even on his way down to the ground on a tackle. Then, they take him out of the game. Dude took Dudley to the States and WON!. I did see some improvement in the substitution rotation yesterday. I'm not a Stat Pimp or football play by play walking Almanac, but I see positive results on offense when Ricky Lewis is at Quarterback. KEEP HIM IN!!! . We also need some different plays..I agree, more Play action plays. The O Line ain't cuttin the mustard and Holes collapse quick, if they even exist at all, and the RB has no place to go but to run up his players back. When I played football in my coach taught me to stay with the Defender until the whistle blew no matter what the circumstance.. I don't see this that kind of dedication in this O Line. We waste 4 quarters trying to "Run up the Middle" and they Know Mayhew is getting the ball...Sometimes is works...spread'em out. We need some Dazzle, Some Slight of hand from the QB to keep the Defense Guessing who has the ball when you have a weak O Line in my opinion or have a QB who can Read where he has open receivers and hit them in the Fricken chest rather than 5 feet away from them where the receiver can't even catch up to the ball and gets overthrown or has to Leap to catch the ball and it's 3 or 4 feet over his head. The Formula? Ricky Lewis......Mayhew.... some QB Slight of Hand and Crack the Whip on the O Line. The Defense needs some Rest.. Its just my Opinion though. School me. All my points of view may not be as valid as some but I know some are...
