yeah, i agree. i suppose we could get our plays in sooner than we have. but no matter how late a play gets in, it still wouldn't cause the center to hike the ball over the qb's head. the center can't see the play clock from between his legs. he doesn't know how much time is left on the play clock when he's hiking the ball. he just hikes the ball on the proper count. a center doesn't rush his hike, he just reacts to the qb's cadence.
and getting plays in late doesn't cause interceptions either. now, obviously it doesn't help anything to get it in late. it may even cause a delay of game penalty if we don't beat the clock or as you stated, perhaps an illegal formation penalty. but those aren't the penalties that killed us.
folk said they wanted to see a new wrinkle, so berry gave us the no huddle offense. again, anytime you try to incorporate something new that you haven't implemented over the long term, expect mistakes to be made.
hey, if ya'll want to place all the blame on the oc, then go for it. but in football, very rarely does one person alone cause a team to lose. its as clear as day why we loss that game and yes, poor coaching was a major part of it. but to's and penalties is what did us in. i wouldn't place all the blame on berry. my biggest question is, why did we commit and lose 5 costly fumbles? do we not work on center to qb exchanges enough in practice to avoid poor exchanges? do we not put enough pressure on our center during practice so that he'll be prepared for virtually all the situations he'll experience in a game?

well, mike singletary seems to think that the oc on his squad is/was the problem to the 49ers. the problems you cite can be corrected with practice. now the center/qb exchange, i hear the defense was yelling "hike" that's a penalty that was never called. well, i need an adjustment so that won't be an issue. bring the qb under center and that corrects the problem, but we only seem to be able to pass from the shotgun formation, why? you guys said our o-line was just fine...also, when you know you have trouble blocking up front (again, which you guys say we don't), then play-action pass. they would have had to respect the play-action because, the running game was gashing them. those are adjustments that we should be able to make on the fly...you only get one halftime to make adjustments.

Those are both OC duties. I aint placing it all on him, but I'm saying that we cant overcome turnovers AND this. He needs to remove his element of blame from the equation.....and fast.

Well put oleschool. The no huddle was effective, it just needs to be perfected. And ohsixrain i believe we pass better outta shotgun bc the pressure takes longer to get back there it also helps the QB to see over the line and lastly if its a blitz is coming its easy to throw the quick route instead dropping back with the blitz coming at you, which may be why when we're under center he usually throws the outs and curls bc that maybe all his vision see's due to his height. But i do agree with you on the play action i know its there, especially the boot leg off the stretch play, that's definitely a big gainer. If we find a way to implement that into our offense i can definitely see it being effected especially late in the game when that defense gets tired, how do i know bc that's how wssu drove the ball late in the game against us.

I think the players feel our pain. They see plays called in practice that never make the field during the game. I think they are getting frustrated. They see the pattern. It's one thing to be conservative, but not to a point of being redundant. Every game, we see teams with wide open players where they have out maneuvered us. We don't have wide open players. There defensive coaches know what's coming. I called the reverse everytime they handed it off to #1. He came inside instead of outside of the formation. If I as a novice can see it, don't you think a trained football eye can also. Don't have anything against Mr Berry, but I don't think A&T will ever have a powerhouse offense with his type of offensive philosophy. BTW. Even with the fumbles, and miscues, I can see Shelton getting better. He actually threw the ball down the field to #8 a few times. That in itself opened up the runing game more. They can't put 8-9 guys in the box if they know you might go up top. Now we just need to hit a few.

The QB cannot over throw wide open players and then ultimately not blame the person that is making the throw. We cannot hold on to the ball for a long time when dropping back for a pass. We have to make smarter decisions period and then things will get better. Like we have said before this offense is only geared for Lewis Kindle and needs to be modified for the QB's we have. I actually like R. Lewis and T. Webb because, they can make plays with there legs too. I think T. Webb was nervous the first game and I am surprised that he was not given another chance. He was the one who threw that long pass to Derek Gould in the Winston game.

T. Webb ..... was the one who threw that long pass to Derek Gould in the Winston game. What happen to Derek Gould? He was not on the field at NCCU.

Have not seen Gould in a couple of games. And he showed so much promise. Part of coaching is handling players, and I don't think this crew gets it. Folks I know with better execution we could have a couple of wins. But much of that still comes from coaching or lack of it. Player have to buy into what you are doing, but from what I am hearing, players are questioning the intelligence of the coaches (especially on the offense). Players aren't stupid. They do have opinions. But if they voice it in anyway, they are severely dealt with. Benched for speaking out. Maybe not in the heat of battle, but players have to be able to express themselves. If not, frustration sets in. They are not robots.

This staff has a knack for keeping good players in the doghouse.
I don't understand how a receiver can have 3 catches for 60-plus yards in week one ... and then not be heard from again.
It makes me think back to last season when they couldn't even find one snap for Night Train. Hell, Night Train didn't even play on special teams last season.

Did you all read what I said about Gould? This has nothing to do about coaching

guys, i'm not letting the coaches off the hook, and that includes berry. but in the central game, i don't feel berry deserves the bulk of the blame. 320 yards of offense and balance is why. now, you may not have like his play calling. but you can't argue with 320 yards of offense.
again, had we not turned the ball over 7 times, we wouldn't be having this discussion because we wouldn't have given central 21 free points. they only earned 2 field goals. we win that game easily without the to's and then no one's complaining about berry.
i'm not concerned with the play calling, though i know it could be better. i'm concerned about why we had 7 to's. that's my #1 concern because that's why we loss the game. not because the offense didn't move the ball. unless berry position coaches the entire offense, how can he be responsible for 7 fumbles? berry isn't the qb coach, how can he be responsible for 2 interceptions? berry also isn't responsible for 120 yards of penalties.
folk need to stop blaming berry for everything. that's a good way for the team to pick sides and start pointing fingers. the main thing for our team is to stay united and keep fighting. football is a team sport and you make matters worse when you point fingers. everybody has to accept responsibility to play and/or coach better. nobody's getting fired and hopefully nobody's getting kicked off the team! so let's not point fingers at each other! that's the best way to keep losing games.
let's come together, take an honest look at what we did wrong, and correct it. we haven't been blown out all season long, so we're in every game we play. we just need to eliminate mistakes, continue to improve each phase of the game, and come out with fire in our eyes at the ccc! that's what we need to do! save the blame game until after the season's over. but right now, we've still got 7 games to play!

well, mike singletary seems to think that the oc on his squad is/was the problem to the 49ers. did singletary's offense lose their starting qb? did singletary's offense put up 320 yards of offense in their last game? did singletary's offense rush for over 200 yards while completing more than 52% passing?

I wasn't at the NCCU game but by just looking at the play-by-play stats it seems that we moved the ball at will.
I honestly don't have a problem with anything Berry called in that game because - based on the play-by-play report - everything appeared to work.
I even saw a couple of long passes to the tight end.
NCCU's defense probably sucked but if we can duplicate that kind of offense for the rest of the season, sans the turnovers of course, we are gonna win some ballgames.
Actually, we might want to see if a few of our players are point shaving because I don't see how we didn't beat NCCU by 4 touchdowns based on the play-by-play.
