Gator you're full of it. Knotts doesn't have to recruit. Parents froma all over the country are calling in an effort to get their kids to play for him. He had five kids kicked off the team after it was discovered they did not live within the school boundaries. If I'm not mistaken, none of them were starters. Give Knotts any team in the state and he'll have em in the state championships within two seasons. Hell he's already done it with three different teams!! Also Knotts loses far more kids that transfer out than he has to come in. Rather than wait a year or two a lot of his second stringers will transfer to other schools where they know they'll start. If Knotts was the coach at New Bern they would go three years without a loss.

Rumor has it Fobbs is taking the staff to the coaches convention in Cali next week and will be looking to hire a QB Coach/OC while at the meeting. Will be interesting to see who he can find while he's out there.

I am sure the OC at S.C. State loves this challenge...ORANGEBURG, SC – South Carolina State, Friday, announced its 2008 football schedule. The Bulldogs will play twelve (12) contests, including two Football Bowl Subdivision (formerly Div. I-A) opponents for a second straight year, according to Athletics Director Charlene Johnson. Five of the games will be at home.
SC State, who played a major school in football for the first time last season – the school’s 100th year of football – will meet both intrastate rival Clemson and Central Florida for the first time. The Bulldogs will also renew the series with Benedict after a three-year hiatus for their third and final non-conference opponent.
During the 2007 season, SC State played both Air Force and intrastate rival South Carolina, marking the first-ever meeting between an FBS opponent.
SC State opens the 2008 campaign Aug. 30 at Central Florida and travels to Clemson Sept. 20, while Benedict will provide the opposition for the Bulldog home opener Sept. 6.
“Just as in 2007, we have a very challenging schedule this year,” said Johnson. “For a second consecutive season, the university will face two major universities, providing our players and supporters with some wonderful experiences, and bringing more visibility to our program.”
Other home games on the slate include Bethune-Cookman Sept. 13, Norfolk State -- the Homecoming contest -- Oct. 11, Hampton Oct. 25, and Howard Nov. 8.
Additional road games are Winston-Salem State Sept. 27, Florida A&M Oct. 18, Delaware State Nov. 1, Morgan State Nov. 15, and North Carolina A&T Nov. 22.
Starting times for all of the 2008 games will be released later.

Posted January 10, 2008 02:56 PM Melvin Spears will become RB's Coach @ Texas Southern. Spears is still in trying to collect his money from Grambling. Spears was seen @ AFCA convention in Anahiem with Johnny Cole, now TSU's head coach. He was overheard talking to another SWAC Coach saying he has a job with Johnny, but He hopes to get a coord spot. He was unsuccessful in contacting Jerry Holmes, and He Told another coach Joe Taylor won't return his calls. See how this unfolds in the coming weeks.

I'm starting to doubt that Fobbs is really looking for an oc.

Decks, I get that feeling too, but if he was told by the chancellor to hire one and he doesn't, then it's his fannie in the frying pan! He seems to be just that stubborn, to think that his way is the only way!

This is off of the TALLAHASSEE DEMOCRAT's FAMU message board:
<<<Yea, I was talking to a couple of coaches that were out there and taylor pretty much had coaches in-line that he wanted. I was told his o/c will probably be the o-line coach that's coming from Hampton So we'll C. Was hoping my Home-boy J. Mckenzie from Alabama A&M, Alcorn St would get the o/c job so he could inject the spread back into Tallahassee which did'nt happen. Northcarolina A&T hired him since Taylor turned him down. He told me afterward's he wanted to coach with Taylor and help bring rattlernation back with his quick strike Offense, but now he'll inject A&T with it!>>>
Don't know if there is any truth to this one...but the guy is talking about John McKenzie.

Heard that John McKenzie was on campus yesterday for an official interview. Let's hope we get him sind, sealed and delivered so he can get into his office sooner than later. If these kids are going to learn a new system then they need to start working now. Anyone know about his schemes or what he wants to do with the football. How complicated?

McKenzie is the choice and that should be official this week and Fobbs is betting his future on his choice of him as the OC and QB coach.
He has had considerable success in scoring points in bunches at Alabama State; even at Del State and Fayetteville as a head coach with his two bread and butter offensive schemes - the pro set with a two man backfield with slot receivers or the Power I with option intertwined into the running game depending on the what kind of skill players he has available to him at QB. His offensive lines tend to be zone blocking teams.
He will also use some wing-T and misdirection in short yardage situations and in the red zone. Nearly all of the passing game will come off play action so you will see the ball go up 20-25 times per game.
McKenzie has a history of tailoring his offense to his quarterback which is something we need right now rather than a pure system guy. His offenses center on quarterback play and places pass protection at a premium with big people up front and he has produced some pretty good QBs.
His problems as a head coach came on the defensive side of the football plus a not too friendly football administration at Del State at the time he was there.
If you saw Jackson State a few years ago when the came up here and nearly beat us near the end trailing by 32 going into the fourth quarter that is what you will see from us on offense - hopefully.
Misdirection and counters when running the ball , draws and screens against blitzes, periodic deep balls off play action to back off the corners, and lot of quick pick plays in the short and intermediate passing game to catch and isolate LBs in man coverage.
It doesn't require a lot of thinking but his offenses have to have execution, and recognition of the outside match-ups by the QB. It will be a quick pace offense and he uses the no huddle - a lot.

Will Aggies fans and Fobbs allow McKenzie installed his version of Spread offense?

It hasn't been confirmed that we are even getting an OC; it was suppose to be official last week. I haven't seen any official information saying it was going to happen; did I miss it or are we speculating?

I haven't seen any official information saying it was going to happen; did I miss it or are we speculating? Give it time, Trueaggie. Trueaggie, you know there is Greenwich Time ( military uses in operations that require precise time), Standard Time (normal businesses use for accurate time), CP Time (where "you know who" uses for conducting business on at least a hour delay in time) ;D and then there is A&T Time (A&T's administration uses for conducting business on "god who knows" how many days of delay in time)
