Hey guys I think back to back home games has more to do with the light turnout than charging for the fan zone. Plus everyone just got their A&T football fix the week before at Homecoming. Heck I'm a die hard Aggie and I thought about missing last weeks game.
I don't think we will know exactly why folks don't show up for games. The weather, game time, cost, the opponent or other events. It happens and all we can do is try to put a better product on the field and keep moving forward.
I don't think the fan zone can be blamed for the low turnout.

Back in the day, late 70's, early 80's, we as students went to all the home games. Now, it's a matter of choices for the students, and economics for adults. Personally, I still give money to the university, but as a sports guy, I can't stomach a bad product any longer. Call me fair weather Aggie all you want, but that's just my two cents worth.

$25 general admission tickets is the main factor. Gotta get that price down to $15 bucks if you want the community to come out on a regular basis.

I think the answers are in the previous threads. I've heard a lot of gripes about the cost. We haven't solved the question, "What is a fair price for a MEAC game"? In the beginning I threw out the Justin Beiber t-shirt cost, but after a season of attending every home game...... It's costly.

I tailgate also and paid the season ticket up front, but some of my tailgate guests have to choose games carefully because of the cost.

Attendance is plummeting everywhere so this isn't just an Aggie issue. The truth is we have to many home games this year which distorts average attendance. I said when we released the schedule that seven home games would prove to be to many. The average fan is going to attend no more than three games and most have already attended thier three. In addition a lot of Aggies made the trip to Myrtle Beach so I think it's an issue of folks having exhausted thier football budgets. We should never have more than 5 home games.

If the schedule stays the same, A&T will have 7 home games every other year because of the imbalance of the MEAC schedule and playing two cupcakes at home (surely you don't expect A&T will play in the cupcakes' stadium).
So, until the MEAC get their act together to balance the conference schedule and A&T gets up to full strength and practice time to play a BCS team, you can look forward to 7 home games in 2014.

I did a study on this a few seasons ago, and if you look at all FCS schools and lower level FBS programs, you usually have a significant drop-off in your attendance for any game that is the weekend after your Homecoming game...unless it is a rivalry game. A lot of that drop-off is attributed to low student attendance, too.

I think this is just a learning experience that says "If you have a home game the week immediately following homecoming you had better do something to get the attendance up for it". Make it high school day or advertise it more during homecoming. You can expect this result every time with a 7 game home schedule and immediately following homecoming unless you come up with something very creative.

I was at the A&T/FAMU game. I was shocked at the low attendance & wondered out loud where were all of the Aggie fans. Decks made a good point. My tailgate attendees pick & choose the games they attend based on their pocketbook. I understand that. And yes, there was definitely a homecoming hangover. However, I thought with the opponent along with the momentum from winning homecoming would have had more fans in the stands. From all of these posts, it seems like there were plenty of options that kept folks from the game. I hope we crack the 10,000 mark this Saturday. $30 adult tickets...so we will see. Go Aggies!

THE MEAC GAME OF THE WEEK WAS 50 MILES DOWN THE ROAD IN DURHAM. I THINK THAT WAS THE MAIN REASON FOR LOW ATTENDANCE.

I WAS AT THE GAME (NCCU) AND SAW MANY AGGIES IN ATTENDANCE.

Marketing, Marketing Marketing....
We should have played up the marquee games and used the cupcakes a community freebies to bolster attendance.
We should be giving out free tickets to the game zone for certain groups. They should also be working closer with the Alumni Association. Why not have the DC Alumni crowd host parties during the Howard Game, VA Alumni during the Hampton, NSU games etc.
The answer is clear and now that we are fielding a better product we have to put it in a better package.
