I can't complain because I didn't make it but for a FAMU-A&T game to have under 7K that is just shocking. Though the truth is should never schedule next week game after homecoming at home but the MEAC office set this up.
I hope seniors like Mayhew can get over 10K in the their last home game.

Definitely not surprised after such a well attended homecoming weekend and no chance for a title.

I wasn't able to make it up on Saturday. Celebrated birthday way too late Friday night and needless to say trying to drive Saturday wouldn't have been a wise decision on my part. I WILL however be in Aggie Stadium this Saturday If God's Will and in Durham next Saturday for the NCCU game.....
I do feel though that attendance this coming weekend will be better. IF SCSU fan base shows up like they did in 2008 & 2010 it will be pretty good.

can someone put some sense behind our famu attendance? i certainly can't. i'm literally shocked! famu is a premier meac school, no way we should have less than 10k for famu. not to mention they brought a few fans of their own. really, no sarcasm please. can somebody please explain this? it shouldn't matter that we had homecoming the previous week. less than 10k for famu, i can't understand that...

it shouldn't matter that we had homecoming the previous week. less than 10k for famu, i can't understand that... Why shouldn't it matter. "The only people travelling to G'boro 2 weeks in a row after an exhausting homecoming is diehards, and even half them (as you can see) had something better to do. It was 3 things. - Homecoming the week before
- Nothing at stake. 2-3 vs 3-2 isn't a barn burner on paper. FAMU fans had nothing to travel for either.
- Again, at 2-3 and no shot at any type of playoff birth it would take a rival to pull the fans out.
Was it high school day or something or is that this week? that normally gives a decent attendance bump.

We have a fickle fan base. We have an average team. Our prices are high during tough economic times. Expect a similar tu showing for SCSU.

Was it high school day or something or is that this week? that normally gives a decent attendance bump. so that explains why we had more folk at the vul and wvsu games than for famu? didn't we play those games "back-to-back"? didn't folk complain that attendance would be low for those games because no one has ever heard of them? look, maybe for you "new schoolers", its not unusual to have 7,000 fans on a "beautiful day" against famu when our team has a winning record and has only loss 1 home game all season long. but to me, an "old schooler", i know better. we've had years when we "averaged" over 15k fans per game even when we had a losing record. so there's got to be a better explanation than that. if we had had 10k fans or so for famu, i wouldn't have been shocked about that. but less than 7,000? normally, that only happens during inclement weather at aggie stadium. you "new schoolers" need to check your history if you think 7,000 fans isn't unusual for a winning aggie football team under beautiful skies at aggie stadium...

FAMU not having a band has some effect also. Granted they hardly every come but its always the topic of conversation and many folks will attend off speculation alone.
We didnt pub for this game and the students dont connect with the history between T and FAMU.

FAMU had a good crowd at the game. There were only a hand full of students at the game. I drove through campus on my way to the stadium and there were lots of students just hanging around on campus not even thinking about attending the game. The basketball court was full of students playing BB and just hanging out, and they get in the games free (well they pay their student fees), but still!!!

The game....was...emptyyyyyyyyy......a good number of green & orange on the visitors side...but this game was mightyyyyy empty. SCSU rolls deep all over the country so hopefully this weeks game will yield better attendance

i think students having more options for entertainment is a factor in our decreased attendance. years ago we didn't have an internet and portable computers that we could carry anywhere we went. but i think that's only part of the problem. i also think we're losing out on walk up attendance because of the fanzone.
now i know the fanzone strikes a cord amongst a lot of aggies. but i think we use to draw more folk from the community than we do now with the fanzone in place. i believe a good number of folk who would hangout outside of aggie stadium would eventually purchase tickets and come inside if it sounded like we were winning the game. but we've completely run away that crowd, so we're virtually getting nothing from them now.
i also think because there's so many more things to do because of social media, that its necessary to do a better job promoting our games. whereas in the past, it wasn't necessary because there were fewer options for entertainment...

You have to be winning on a consistent basis to have good attendance for every game these days. Simple as that. We are not. What other explanation is there?
VUL and the other school were in the beginning of the season, warm game day, plenty of excitement. Thats a no brainer.
