Hey Aggie62, has A&T spent its money wisely in the athletic department in the last decade? Has A&T ever spent it wisely? Can you ever spend money wisely in athletics, especially when your school is in Division I.

62, Monroe has like two or three whole years head coaching experience, none in this conference, and none on the d-1 level. He was a d-coordinator (albeit not as good or experienced a d-coordinator as Lee) and they made him head coach late in the game. He rolled up his sleeves, got the job done, and exceeded everybody’s expectations. Why can’t a more celebrated and more experienced coordinator do as well? I guess it’s because we dream of competing on a higher plane than reality will let us.

I will say a Head Coach is only as good as his Indians (Assistants) and it's not a good thing to pay the boss a lot of money and the indians peanuts. Coaches work hard for pride and wanting to be successfull. We work even harder when that reflects in the paycheck. I'm going where I'm going as a position coach. I came to A&T as the OC (TECHNICALLY) did all the work as a the OC the 1st 2 years. And I'm getting a substantial raise going to supposedly an inferior conference as a position coach only. All I'm saying is if they want good, experienced assistant coaches the assistant coaches pool has to be raised considerably. It should reflect what you are paying the Head coach.

We generally followed that rule except for one three-year period. Without knowing the details of your pay, had you been on the prior staff I think you'd have made substantially more.

folks, i didn't necessarily like lee as the head coach either. but do you really think wheels would risk his job on someone he doesn't think would be successful. do you really think a former aggie football player who's won an meac championship and returns to his alma mater and witnessed a 27 game losing streak would pick a coach he doesn't think will restore aggie pride?
i just can't bring myself to believe that. wheels has the background, the experience, and he knows the meac extremely well. wheels is not a dee todd! he bleeds aggie gold! i simply can't bring myself to believe that wheels doesn't want the same thing we all want and that's a winner!
i'm not even gonna second guess him. i'm not gonna question his pick. i said long ago i'd sit back, put it in cruise, and enjoy the ride for two years. if the program stinks after that, then i'll give wheels hail. but right now, i totally trust his judgment and his motives because of the reasons i've stated above.
i swear i wouldn't have picked lee, but then again, wheels has access to a lot more information than we on the board do. i know its kinda hard to swallow after tossing around names like frazier, broadway, and the like. but give the man a chance! Lord knows he can't do any worse than fobbs and thank God he didn't pick rags! (sorry rags, i love ya man, but i don't think you're ready to be "our head coach".) mainly because of the predicament our program is in. ya might have been a reasonable pick in '03.
but if i can get over it, errrbody can get over it! by the way, i'll be upset if we don't win at least 4 games next season, preferably 5. we need a quick fix, we've suffered long enough and we need the aggie nation to return to the stadium before we permanently lose them. we don't need to go thru another long drawn out rebuilding process. if lee can produce those things, i'll be happy...

Im excited about this up coming season. I am eager to see the new coaches and swagger that i am hoping comes back to campus. We need that Blue Death Defense back because we have been down for too long. I also want to know if i can come to the tailgate party at the first game.

Man, this has been a rough week for me. The more information I get about our football program, the more depressed and frustrated I become. Tell me again why we paid Fobbs $175k to be the head coach AND OC ... and he immediately handed the OC duties off to his OL coach. Isn't that almost like a breach of contract? Nevermind, don't even answer that. BTW: In hindsight the offense we had under Ray was light years better than that crap McKenzie put together last season. That was another 70 grand well spent.

And Coach205, wait just about 3 years and I'm sure A&T will be looking to hire you back. That seems to be the trend around here.

I've only talked with Wheeler a couple times so I can't say I know him that well but he, my friends and others on this website have convinced me he is a true Aggie and loves A&T as much as I do. I also think he's sharp. There are no 'BUTs' coming here, I just decided to state my admirations for Wheeler since I've expressed a few concerns about his hiring a coordinator and not someone with previous head coaching experience as our new football coach. Also, I've learn that some of the university's procedures have and continue to slow the process of hiring a coach. Maybe, it's being done to get it right this time.
One thing is certain and that is I'm sick of us having a terrible football program..........................

As Trues said yesterday, we are going to end up with 50% of the staff returning from three yrs ago. Lee head coach and DC, Chennis OL & OC, Oliver DB, and Rags staying with us as Asst. HC and RB coach. The more things change , the more they stay the same. It's nice to see us being environmentally sound and using the recycling program.
