Well that settles that. Now Aggie Paul should be able to join our fundraiser, no problem at all. BTW: I noticed that we just received another $100 donation, this one from William Littlejohn. He, like Aggie911, is another longtime supporter of A&T athletics. This is the dawn of a new culture of alumni giving. Folks here are really rising to the challenge. Let's keep it going: www.active.com/donate/beatdowns_unlimited

Hey now. Barry Carver just came through with a $50 donation. Very impressive. This is a guy who understands what Aggie Pride is all about and really wants to maintain the success of the women's basketball program. We need more fans like him: www.active.com/donate/beatdowns_unlimited

I strongly support the suggestion of Aggie911 that once this campaign has been completed the money be turned over to the Foundation with specific instruction.
Thrilla, could you find out what the turn around time will be between the time The Foundation receives the money and when the money is deposited into the Women Basketball account. If there is a big delay then we should give the money directly to the Athletic Department due to the urgency and follow up that the Athletic Department turn over all names and amount to The Foundation.
There are very good reasons to turn the money over to The Foundation thereby letting that organization distribute the money to our causes:
1. The Foundation is setup in a professional manner to do the accounting and distribution of charitable funds given to A&T.
2. Giving the money to The Foundation after a fundraising has been completed assures each individual giver that a report of his/her charitable contribution is sent to the IRS and that IRS is assured that the receiver is a 501C organization.
2. The Foundation keeps monetary tally of each individual who gives money to A&T for the fiscal year.
3. Each fiscal year, perks and acknowledgments are given to individuals for their total monetary contributions as tally by The Foundation the previous fiscal year. The perks and acknowledgments differ in accordance with the total amount given by the individual.
4. Departments and individuals at A&T who receives our donation via The Foundation are held accountable for our donations. There may be some sort of tracking to ensure that the donations are spent in the manner and reasons for which it was received.
I am not a member or employee of The Foundation. I am like a lot of Aggies, I like to be acknowledge for what I give, I want it to be a tax deduction on my tax return and I want accountability from the department or individual who receives my donation.

I saw the postings of "lets do this for other sports" which I agree but we have to be careful that we don't get fundraising fatigue. We all have experienced the church building fund, lol. It would be nice to have an organization that can raise money for specific needs that pop up in the middle of the school year or over the summer but we all would be better served if we could get a list of small priorities, lets say in May or June and we can address them and have the solution by the start of the school year. Summer school - thinking that most scholarship athletes can finish college in 4 years without summer school is ridiculous thinking. This issue has never been seriously addressed by any A&T chancellor or by any AD until maybe recently; nor has this issue been seriously addressed by the Aggie Club or the Victory Club.

That would be my only concern. I know there is tight deadline we are operating under in regards to the summer school aspect of this campaign. More than likely, we will be presenting the first payment directly to the athletics department just as we did in 2007 for the football program fundraiser.
However, I readily support having the contributions of each donor being acknowledged by the university's foundation. The fans who are making a contribution now deserve all the recognition and perks they are entitled to. Right now, I have a detailed report of every person who has donated to our campaign thus far, so it will not be a problem compiling that data.
Also, every person who made an online donation to our campaign has received their own instant confirmation email, listing their amount given and our group's EIN number.
As long as (1) each individual donor personally agrees to having their information sent to the university foundation (some people may prefer to be anonymous) and (2) the university foundation will not take any extra administration deductions from our donations, then that seems like a very doable proposition.
BTW: The BDF has already established a precedent that all of our fundraiser money is used entirely for the cause we said it was for. Wheeler Brown can vouch for that. In 2007, I personally put a check in his hand for the amount of $3,500 (which was raised by the dedicated fans on this site) and he signed a official document stating that it would be used solely to supplement the football recruiting budget.
Remember, this is just a grass roots effort performed by fans who want to make a difference with one of their school's top athletic program. I really think we are in the midst of a ground-breaking development here. The entire culture of giving around A&T could be impacted by our efforts.
And like I stated before, we are currently in the process of forming an official BDF fundraising committee that will be looking at ways of perfecting this entire donation process as we go forward. If you would like to be a part of this fundraising committee please send me an email at: semajm@bluedeathvalley.com.

oleschoolaggie; . is there some added benefit to donating to the foundation?yes, having credit: alumni giving, (IRS). are you suggesting they shouldn't donate at all if its not thru the foundation?.NO you can do what you to do with your money (only an suggesting ) you and you alone can only decide if you want to give or not
thanks, aggie911, for the answers. i wasn't trying to be confrontational, i simply didn't know why the foundation may be a preferred alternative for program specific fundraising. aggiejazz brought out some really good observations as well. now i have a better understanding of where you were coming from. for me personally, i really don't care what process or entity is used for fundraising as long as it meets two conditions; 1. the money is used specifically for what it was raised for 2. measures are taken to assure the funds are not wasted nor subject to fraud or misappropriations other than that, i personally don't care which entity/process is used for fundraising. i'll still donate to the aggie club for general athletic support but i also wanted to contribute directly to the women's basketball program. so i gave to both efforts. but if it indeed helps the university more to donate program specific funds via the foundation, then i'm all for it as long as the two conditions above are met...

I like targeted campaigns like this one that have a specific purpose and you can see effect of your contribution in a short period of time. I would rather have a number of short targeted campaigns rather than one big long drawn out one like a "building fund".

Right now, I would like to challenge some of the younger members of this site to step up and join our campaign. Even if you just normally read the board and have not yet signed up, you can still make a donation to our fundraiser. Any amount you can give will definitely be appreciated. We are serious about creating a new culture of giving amongst A&T fans. And that includes our recent graduates and even current students. We all can do our part: www.active.com/donate/beatdowns_unlimited

We are currently at $2400 in donations. I think we can get to at least $3000 by the end of the day. That just requires just six new diehard fans to give at least $100 each. Just six people who appreciate the hard work of Coach Bibbs and her staff. Six people who value the passion and talent of the young student athletes who represent our university with such honor. If someone told you last March that your $100 donation would result in all the joy, pride and excitement we experienced during the Lady Aggies' 2009 championship run, would you give it? Of course you would. Because you are an Aggie. Let's join this campaign and make a difference now: www.active.com/donate/beatdowns_unlimited

hate to intrude on a basketball post. however the track has to fly 4 kids out to Arkansas for NCAA Championship why can't we help them out. Basketball isn't the only sport that needs money. some of us give to the foundation to help great kids and coach Spaceman....check the foundation for donors who give and more importantly that say they do and really don't....we at BDV do spread our $ around generally ;D ;D

I just received a call from Coach Bibbs thanking me for the donation. I don't know how she got my work number??? She not only thanked me, she thanked me for all of you knuckleheads, by saying she appreciates all that we are trying to do for the Lady Aggies. Obviously, Coach Bibbs doesn't know me from Abe Lincoln, but she does know the importance of showing appreciation and that my friends is worth the $100 (that and the IRS deduction).

I told you guys that this fundraising campaign was important. What more proof do you need? How many other iconic coaches do you know that would personally call up the fans who donated to her program? This is a special women we are dealing with and a very special program. Let's all help her out: www.active.com/donate/beatdowns_unlimited
