it's easier to reign someone in than it is to get them to give more energy!

sad to say... it doesn't look like cj is coming to aggieland... being an aggie is just not in his heart... good luck to you young man... wherever you end up... from what i can gather... it wasn't cj turning eaves down... it was eaves telling cj... that if your heart isn't into coming to aggieland... you can't play for me... in other words... cj was going to sign even though he would rather be else where...

brock morman has to get that maurice lucas toughness & physical play back into his game... for some reason he got soft once the season started...
i mean when he 1st stepped on campus he was pushing guys around like they were on rollerskates... then all of a sudden he went finesse...

You need to have more kids like Larry Raper in your program - talented guys who are excited about the chance of being Aggies.

CJ Penny signed with SE Illinois Community College. He also played in the Indiana-KY Allstar game two weeks agos. Looks like he played sparingly only getting 2 pts.

(CJ Penny signed with SE Illinois Community College) over A&T LOL!!! Lucky for Eaves he rescinded the offer even though the kid turned to A&T when there were no offers forthcoming. I lot of times people cry out why A&T was the only school, or one of two or three minor schools, to offer a certain kid a scholarship. Most of the time there are legitimate and good reasons for this. In the "Curious Case of C.J. Penny", CJ had been thoroughly scouted by major, mid-major and minor colleges and they all saw the same thing except for Eaves. Penny made the major newspapers of Kentucky, played major high school tournaments, made the all-state team and he is a 6'5" guard. I was 6'2" in high school, had half of Penny's scoring average, was never mentioned in major newspapers, didn't play in any all-star games or AAU (that wasn't the scene then) and still got a couple of offers. My theory of why Penny did not get one offer besides A&T after so much exposure is because he is considered by the college coaches as a complete stiff, with hardly any quickness or jumping ability, but at 6'5" he was able to shoot over high school players. Academically and character-wise he is good from what I hear so it had to be his athletic ability.

I find that hard to believe. Just two weeks ago people on this board were saying that Eaves was patiently waiting for a 9 AM phone call from this clown.
Eaves got played and wasted a whole bunch of time and energy with nothing to show for it.

BTW: CJ Penny, you are an idiot. You could have gotten a full scholarship to one of the best universities in the free world. Instead you will be coming off the bench at some community college.
Twenty years from now, when you are working the third shift in some rubber factory and your top basketball memory will be that time you scored a double-double against Devry Institute, you'll look back to this moment as the worst decision in your entire life.
But besides that, I wish you the best of luck ...

Thrilla,
I am with you although I would bet the $20 in my pocket this young man thinks after two years he will end up at some major school (i.e. Louisville). Hopefully somebody has sat this kid down and gave him the low down of the weakness in his game. There must be something there even the Div II schools were not knocking down the door to sign this kid. Or maybe he truly is the diamond the world looked over.
LOL instead of a rubber plant maybe a coal mine since it is Kentucky. But I hope the kid uses this experience as motivation to at least get his education (degree).

if we're better off without him, then i'm glad we didn't sign him. save that scholly for a better athlete next year. we don't need a dude on scholly that's gonna ride the pine for 4 years.
i hate to keep repeating myself but i simply don't respect native kentucky talent. i mean, think about it? how many native kentucky ballers do you know that's been an ncaa d1 all american within the last 10 years? i honestly can't think of a single one!
how many native kentucky ballers have ever been nba all stars within the last 20 years? rex chapman, kenny walker? hail, naw! i can hardly think of any native kentucky ballers currently in the nba, much less all stars!
so penney's 22 ppg might equate to 12 ppg in north carolina or elsewhere. i'm not heartbroken at all that we didn't sign this kid. let's just see how witter, upchurch, and smith work out...
