He'll sit if he played last year. The rule says when you transfer up a division you must sit unless you were redshirted the year before. If you are transferring down a division you can play immediately.
He's plenty big at 6-1 235 and a tailback.

It's good to see a quality kicker.
Hopefully 2 or 3 guys will shine out of the wr/db/ath group.

Grant Makes his choice - N.C. A&T over ECU
KANNAPOLIS - Two of the key players in A.L. Brown's state semifinalist football season disclosed their college choices on Wednesday.
Wonders quarterback Sean Fortson is headed to Coastal Carolina, and three-year starter at linebacker Quantres Grant is going to North Carolina A&T.
Both are Division I-AA schools.
"This is the first of many hard choices they'll have to make," said A.L. Brown coach Ron Massey. "They both had good visits when they went to the institutions. I think the opportunity to play early is good at both places."
The versatile Fortson, who plans to major in engineering, wants to play quarterback.
"This is really the best decision for me," Fortson said. "I prayed a lot to God, asking Him what was the best decision for me. We thought about it hard every night.
"It comes down to playing quarterback. I never thought I'd be playing quarterback. I always thought I'd be playing wide receiver."
Grant, who played for the victorious North Carolina team in the Shrine Bowl in December, plans to major in sports management.
"I was looking for a team that was more like a family, to remind me of being here," Grant said.
North Carolina A&T, located in Greensboro, is a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference affiliate, and went 3-8 last season.
Grant said that the Shrine Bowl "was a real good experience, meeting a whole lot of players from all over the state, going to the Children's Hospital, just visiting everybody."
Winning the game wasn't bad, either.
"It was real fun," Grant said. "I didn't play a lot, but I had fun when I was in."
He wasn't much fun for opponents during a stellar high school career, capped by the Wonders' 13-2 season last fall. North Carolina A&T is also getting a Wonder. Shrine Bowl linebacker Quantres Grant (6-0, 235) signed with the 1-AA school in Greensboro.
Most speculation about the soft-spoken, hard-hitting Grant had him ticketed for D-I East Carolina, but he's not disappointed.
"At A&T, I found what I was looking for," Grant said. "Just hanging out in the dorm, I got that feeling of a family just like we had here. I came away convinced the coaches and players were going to look out for each other."
A.L. Brown, champions of the South Piedmont Conference, lost in the state semis to eventual 3AA champion Charlotte Catholic, which won its second straight state title while going undefeated for a second consecutive season

"I realized that I coulda gone to ECU, but I caught a wiff of those A&T ladies while on campus and couldn't turn them down. ECU has a lotta things, and sexy Black women that fill up their jeans aint one of em." I feel you Mr. Grant... welcome home!

yeah, Grant must've strolled around the Strip when it was warm and the girls were dressing less!! He seems like a good character guy, too. Let's hope he keeps his head in the books and not get too excited by the real reason the chool is known by A & T

Fortunatley Fobbs so far has taken the approach of not signing any questrionable academic types. Signing a lot of prop 48s won't help him much his first year.
Of the all of the signees so far, they all have qualified. He's being real choosey about thier potential to remain in school once they get here. Might be why he passed on a lot of the Winston and Fayetteville kids early on. I understand he expects to sign five more today and through the weekend and the rest of the spots will go to transfers.

By JOSH NEAVES Sports Writer Monroe County sent four of its best football players to next level this week as two Panthers and a Lion joined the Itawamba Community College Indians while another Amory player signed with Northeast Mississippi Community College. Amory running back Jermain Johnson as well as wide receivers Sergio Wallace and Chris Wilson all signed with Indians on Wednesday. Amory Coach Pat Byrd spoke about his three players. “Jermain Johnson will be a great fit offensively at ICC. He’s a strong, powerful back and they haven’t had one like him in while,” said Coach Byrd. “Sergio Wallace is an athlete,” said Coach Byrd. “He has great potential at wide receiver.” “Chris Wilson will be a great splitend,” said Coach Byrd. “He’s a good player, with good blocking ability.” Hamilton defensive lineman Gabriel Hollivay also chose the Indians on Wednesday. Amory wide receiver/defensive back Michael Randle penned with Northeast on Wednesday as well. “Michael Randle was one of the best athletes on our team last year,” said Coach Byrd. “I think they are going to try and play him at defensive back or wide receiver, he is a good enough athlete to do both.” Along with the high school players signing, former Amory Panther Andre Garth signed with North Carolina A&T on Wednesday. www.yourdailyjournal.com/articles/2006/02/12/anson-record/sports/sports01.txtQuentin Caple signs with N.C. A&T
BY THOMAS LARK Wednesday, February 8, 2006 2:51 PM ESTThursday was a red-letter day for Anson High School. Anson High defensive back Quentin Caple signs a letter of intent to play football for N.C. A&T. He’s joined by parents Michael and Cathy Caple, and secondary coach Jarrett Troxler and Head Football Coach Jody Grooms. Quentin Caple, a strong safety for the Bearcat football feam, officially signed with N.C. A&T University. A 17-year-old senior, Caple said he appreciates the football scholarship, and he plans on playing strong safety for the N.C. A&T team. The Morven native added that he plans to major in engineering. Caple said he's been playing football since the eighth grade. He said that what he enjoys most about the game is the Friday night adrenaline rush provided by hundreds of screaming fans. “There's nothing like it,” said Caple. On hand for the signing were Jody Grooms, head football coach and an assistant principal for AHS, secondary coach Jarrett Troxler and Caple's proud parents, Michael and Cathy Caple. “We just give God thanks,” the elder Caple said of his son. “We also thank the entire coaching staff and the Morven community.” “We're all very proud of him,” said Grooms. Grooms said that Caple chose N.C. A&T over Gardner-Webb University in Boiling Springs. “N.C. A&T has landed a commitment from one of the finest young people that I have ever coached,” he said. “His character is beyond reproach. He excels in the classroom and on the playing field, and he has been a blessing to our football program at Anson High School. He is a true inspiration to us all.”Caple has had 202 career tackles, seven interceptions and 26 passes broken up; he is a three-time all-conference player and an N.C. Preps 3A All-State Player; he has been team captain both his junior and senior years; and he can run the 40-yard dash in 4.6 seconds.Caple extended thanks to Grooms and the AHS Bearcat coaching staff, his teammates, his teachers, his family “and everybody who has had anything to do with our football program, past and present.”

Man! It sure seems like we are signing a lot of WR. Who's going to throw the ball to them? I have not seen where we have signed any QB's. Do we have some secret weapon QB that we have been hiding? What's the deal???

Seems like we're gearing up to run the spread. If you have all those wideouts and they're running short routes you don't have to have a killer at the qb, but you do need an athlete that can run and make good decisions with the ball.

If that is the case, it sounds like a perfect fit for Rod Stevens. I know he is still around because iI have seen him working out with the rest of the team. He need to be used if we are going to keep him here.
