Aggie One, our size is comparable to everyone in the league except Del State. The teams we have been losing to lately have had the same sized front court that we've had. Disagree, The three games I saw FAMU, NSU and Hampton all had "Bigger Bodies" than we did. Don't go by the roster, look at the players.

So, whose fault is it that we don't have bigger bodies? ? We have had four already(6-8 to 6-10), and two are still with us. Out of the four only one had real playing time and he was without talent. At Eaves introduction as head coach in the Wellness Center, when the question was raised about big men he stated that you don't really have to have big men to win. He mentioned that he was not going to get the great big men, they would be taken by the majors. However, he did say that he would be looking, but that he felt he could win with the 6-6 or 6-7 players. So, if all of you can figure out exactly what he meant, then we could all sleep better at night.

Well, he needs a true big man 6'8-6'10 that can flat out rebound cause we are getting out rebounded on any given night
We also need some thugs or tough players on team that play like mad men and not play timid.

Yeah "thugs" is a little harsh. I prefer bangers who don't mind putting a body or an elbow on people down low.
We've have good guards and decent wings but we are way too soft in the middle. Anyone Saturday saw us consistently give up dribble penetration down the middle and along the baseline, and get outebounded by a gazillion on the offensive boards.
Their 6-5 guys simply rode our people completely out of lane by boxing out, hustling, and playing physical. Our inside people showed no confidence in their ability to make plays on the offensive end because they were getting pushed outfrom the post which resulted in blown layups and people changing their shots unnecessarily to avoid get their shots rejected.
Comparable size with Coppin and most teams in the MEAC, BT? Perhaps. Comparable toughness in the paint?
Absolutely not.

Maybe I'm missing something. Didn't the man take over a program that almost made history for not winning a game in the entire season? Is it that easy to sell a big man that this program is the place to be? 1-16 3-25 6-24 6-23 Greg Oden aint coming here to play on that team. Give the man a chance to build the program. We've improved every year. Those games on ESPNU and the exposure the ESPN poll gave us will definitely make it easier for him to recruit. Boy, this is a tough crowd

I, for one, am not advocating any coaching changes or anything remotely close to that. Certainly this team is much better than the last two years and Eaves has been creditable in what he has done. I supported a contract extension when it was first brought up.
But certain facts are hard to ignore and this particular element is blatantly obvious even to a non basketball fan.
We have nothing in low. So every team we play will jump out on the three point line and defend the shooters because there is no inside offensive threat or rebounders to contend with. Every team we face will attack us the same way defensively from here on out. That's just way too much to ask of the guards every single night.
Until that situation changes, we'll be middle of the pack in the MEAC at best.

The Dawg Pound has done more to help this program that Eaves has.

ok maybe not thugs but you all get what i am saying about tough players
Not the team as a whole but, the forwards except for Wills and Roberts play timid ex: James Porter 6'9= SOFT
My hard workers are Hernandez Wills Rush Roberts Ewing (Maybe)
We have to many players trying to be shooting guards

After we go one and done in the MEAC tourney, the only recruiting tool Eaves will have next offseason will be the home atmosphere at Corbett.
It sure won't be his overall record at A&T or his track record for starting his best players.

That's always been a recruiting tool, even for Don Corbett.

Boy, this is a tough crowd I doubt if anyone expects that calibre of player(Oden), although it would be nice. There are a lot of teams like us and even D-II that have decent big people that can actually play. So my question remains, whose fault is it??? Another quetion I have posed in the past is, when do you expect Eaves to win??? Is in 2007, 2008, or 2009??? The man has been here four years. He is expected to have made some strides by now (thought that it would have happened last year). I doubt that anyone is calling for Eaves dismissal, but his extension should have been for one year (evaluated again at end of next season). He controls his scholarships, and he is the man bring in these tall benchwarmers.

It doesn't matter who he starts. The problem is not with the rotation, the size, the offense, or the rebounding.
This team as configured requires two of three things to win (in order of importance); 1) shoot at least 45%, 2) create significantly more turnovers than we commit, 3) create an up tempo game.
When this team doesn’t shoot well they are generally still in the game, when this team gets out rebounded they are still in the game. I agree that don’t need a “big man” to win (a low post presence). The game has changed mightily since the big centers did the bump and grind the middle. But if you don’t have a low post presence you better have something. What we have are perimeter shooters.
The problem with this team is we have one scorer. And who the hell knows if he’s on or off and when he’s off, there no one else on.

Don Corbett didn't have youtube clips or ESPN poll results to back up his claim, though. Right now everyone in the nation recgonizes how hype Corbett is. Not just HBCU fans.
