You wouldn't dare send your kid to a HCBU if you cared about his future? You must be a total failure in life. A & T has meant everything to my sucess. My engineering degree has paid off in ways i didn't imagine. Yes i waited in long lines, fought with everyone in the dowdy building, got pissed off in the bookstore, and lived like a peasant in scott hall. And looking back i would not trade it for anything, especially for a white school. Those memoiries as well as many more or fond to me. A & T has made alot of progress since i left and i am happy with the direction we are going in. Football is one aspect of "our" school. we've had sucess before and will have it again. I remember a not too distant past were our b-ball team struggle tremendously. Dude where is your aggie pride. That is if you are truly an aggie.

What makes it a Garbage post. Since you graduate from a HBCU why are you attacking your school? what are you doing to improve your school?. I graduate in 82 and I see a lot of changes w the school. And I have a great job because of A&T. There is numerous success
stories coming out of A&T
If your beef is w the athletic department don’t try to bring down the whole school!

I don't reply often, but your post was some bull. My school (and schools like it) are not sub-standard. I wouldn't trade my A&T education and experience for anything. It made me who I am...and I don't define "greatness" by what white schools (or people) are doing.

First of all we're not merging with anyone! We have greatness that UNC-G will never touch, like the Greensboro Sit-in Four and Ronald McNair. The PWC's don't really want us. I have black friends who graduated from PWC's whom had never experienced "The Greatest Homecoming on Earth", until they came to "T's". It only took that one time, but now you would think they are graduates of A&T, because that was the missing link to their heritage. Our National Aggie Club president graduated from a PWC, but if you didn't know, you would swear that he graduated from A&T. So we need to appreciate what we have and continue to build on our history, because we are a great University. We have a new administration that is on their toes to get everything in prespective...and once again, we'll be a force to be reckoned with!

There is nothing wrong with this thread. “aahhbigboy” may be a little strong with the rhetoric but he’s right on a couple of points.

We accept mediocrity on a lot of levels. Our leadership is secretive, uncreative and at time incompetent and what do we do? In case you don’t know the answer I’ll tell you; WE ACCEPT IT. Why because we don’t care where it counts most; with our pockets. The alumni giving at most HBCUs is less than 10% as compared to PWC’s, which is generally above 50%. Most Alums come to homecoming but their kids go to UNC-G, UNC-C, UNC-A or UNC-W. Many of our urban state supported schools are increasingly becoming commuter type schools, 50/50 during the day, 95% black at night. Many HBCU’s will not survive without a significant increase in diversity at all levels including leadership, support staff and student body. Though its mission is higher education, it's still a business entity and will only survive through process improvement, fiscal responsibility, leadership development, technology refresh, etc. The 60’s are in the rear view mirror. The state only provides about 25% of A&T’s operating budget (nothing for Athletics), the rest come from us and other DONORS.

Now you can get pissed at “aahhbigboy” or you can make a change in what you do to support the University, because talk is cheap, but at least it’s a starting point to a CHANGE and we need to change how we view our alma mater, because it will change. Its history is well documented but the future is where we are headed. The question is: to the benefit of who? Now if you don’t know the answer, let me help you again; WHOEVER PAYS THE BILLS.

And for those of you that don't think that compared to many schools just in the state of North Carolina that A&T is not below them(sub-standard) in student achievement, faculty credentials, grading standards, physical infrastructure (wireless access, electronic giving), athletic infrastructure and resources, overall school marketing. etc. Then you are delusional, in denial or just plan stupid, but you definitely need to get to other school more. Unless your comparison is to other HBCU’s, even there some slippage can be found.

I appreciate the warning aahh---bboy, I understand what you mean, this is not rocket science, it is clear that white schools use black athletes to generate money, thus more sexy facilities, thus better opportunity for the pros, as a result, we have some really good black athletes out there in the pros, with such high moral standards ("Trust that"). I agree the school needs to diversify, I was a pre-vet major, in the first class entering Webb hall and I don't have to tell you that my class was 65/35 white, I still recall correcting some of them on Monday--Didn't yall have a game this weekend, by the time we went through several anatomy classes and study sessions, that phrase simply was -Did we win Saturday. So there is no need to hash this over, if you feel the w#$%% man's ice is colder maybe that works for you. My uncle was a great mentor to me from teaching me simply thing from shooting Ceelow to take care of the job and the job will take care of you. He also stressed to me "Knowledge of Self". I will close as usual and admit my stupidity, my little one turn down a great women's engineering program at Purdue (for which she does plan to attend post-grad), Pittsburgh and partial scholarship to Wake Forest, she is at A&T and doing well, so if the colder ice works for you

aahbigboy, your comments disturb me because they "imply" that only white people can do things right. That only they can run a university, the we(black people) dont have the competence or intelligence to do so. You make comments like "we need diversity" or "what white schools do better" or "we need to merge with a white school". This comes off to me that you feel your race(assuming you're black) is inferior. I know you dont think that, but thats what i'm taking from it. I know that A & T has issues to overcome as do many other schools(both Black and White). But i will never make comments that suggest we as a people are inferior.

We have pre-packaged books, we have a parking deck, we produce the top students in Engineering, Business Journalism and Technology. Our basketball team is poised to win the conference. Our new chancellor just launched a multi-million dollar scholarship campaign that some PWCs, in this state, can't touch. When is the last time there was an external audit on a Chapel-Hill or a Duke and if they did what would they find. We have parking to accommodate every sticker on campus (Its just a matter of where students want to park) At white schools parking is not a problem because most students cant even park on campus.

A&T has had exponential growth across the board. We have grown more in 10 years than some campuses have done in 50 and yes we are facing some growing pains but hell all this mess has only been bad 2 years.

In any major Fortune 500 company, restructuring can take as long as 4 or 5.
Don’t bash my school if you haven’t done your research. It’s easier to criticize than it is to support. How have you given back?…Other than talking down your school with your white friend.

Black people have this same conversation all over the US about anything that is identified as belonging to or solely related to blacks that has created a negative image. Guess what, the current national spokeman on this matter is Bill Cosby and he is helping to raise scholarship money for incoming freshman to A&T.


BTW, did your white friend think that Duke University is substandard because of their losing football team?

Inaddition to all that has been posted here, A&T is meeting the need of many borderline Black Students who just meet the minimum standard to attend a University and graduate. How many of your white schools are filling this critical need? Also, you need to get off your high horse and come back down to earth and thank god that A&T was here to meet your needs. Providing you attended our substandard school. Based on your views, I question whether you financially support anything at A&T. Get a grip.
