We need to replace Joyner's height. I was always suspicious on how we were going to use Smith because he appeared to be a low post player that lacked the height to play that position in the CAA. |

Smith is supposed to be a combo guard that should have been used to play more than just on the Block. Also he played in the Lowe post mostly when we would go small. Also Joyner had the height but he was lacking in size although he did perform well. I see Joyner has more of a swing player. Out of the two Joyner will be missed the most. Also I think Ross is cleaning house to open up more scholarship slots, this is just my opinion. |

Joyner's weight was the first thing that jumped out at me putting together the potential roster over the summer. He surprised me a little and I agree he will be missed the most. |

I concur with Saabman. These are slot clearing moves. My gut tells me they probably won't be the last ones off the roster to go into the portal.

I concur with Saabman. These are slot clearing moves. My gut tells me they probably won't be the last ones off the roster to go into the portal. I agree in part on what you and Saabman say on cleaning move. Both of these players were probably already thinking about transferring. After their end of season individual player's meeting with the coach discussing future goals and development, they had a clearer picture on their future plans. Smith was probably told his playing time would not be great next season unless a big jump in skill development, therefore a mutual agreement to part ways. Joyner on the other hand was told how much value he brought to the team and that he "can potentially" earn more playing time. He already was averaging 19 min/gm. A starter position was probably not promised, therefore he decided to look for a better opportunity although Coach Ross wanted to keep him. All speculation on my part, but Coach Ross had trouble bringing in Bigs last year although he made plenty of offers to Bigs. It makes little sense to get rid of a productive Big (height wise) you developed in an area you lack depth and appears to be hard to recruit at A&T. |

Why would you think he would even look A&T's way? He has only played at high major schools or conferences that pay out moderate to large NIL deals. He started 22 games. I don't see him looking at any CAA teams. Good lookout on talent though. |

I don't see him looking at any CAA teams. Good lookout on talent though. I don’t necessarily, it’s a pipe dream. Especially with him being able to get any amount of NIL at a mid major or Power 5. Grad transfers typically having a higher chance of mid & low majors over anyone else though, especially going through dysfunction at the Power 5 level |

Ross may have left the decision up to Joyner with no guarantees that he will be in the starting line-up for next season. Which a CAA team already has & a hometown team too. If he rejects either of those two programs for his grad transfer year, they don’t lose anything from it. Literally only one way for them to find out |

Unlike our football team, both our basketball teams beat outside expectations thus the lower number of transfers. I might add that this was year 2 in the CAA for basketball versus first year for football.

Unlike our football team, both our basketball teams beat outside expectations thus the lower number of transfers. I might add that this was year 2 in the CAA for basketball versus first year for football. I expect football to be quite a bit different. |
