This shows where NCAT and HBCUs in general have our biggest gap. This "list" isn't first in the minds of fans, but show up on the field and the court across an athletics program. It's all about the long term health and strength of you program. Our deficit in facilities is one thing...but, acknowledging and addressing our behinds the scenes deficit in staff, support, and administration will be what sets our program apart. Fortunately the plans laid out by our admin is meant to address all those areas...that said, it's going to take time, money, and commitment. I hope we are up for the challange. It would be good to see exactly how we stack up against this in order to really know our gaps.

The fact that this Stony Brook coach feels they have to post this on social media is not a flex. I really hope you're not sharing this in a way to imply that we need to do the same? This is a level of pathetic I hope we never reach.

We can be so dense collectively at times, that it's tiresome. A walk-on tryout post is not the same as this, IMHO.

I don't know exactly how we stack up staff position-to-staff position, but according to a USA Today article from June 2023, Stoney Brook spent $38.9 mil for athletics verses the $15.8 mil spent by A&T. They are one of the top athletic department spenders in the CAA. They went 0-12 in football this past season, so in that sense they certainly didn't get a good bang for the buck in football.

It would be good to see exactly how we stack up against this in order to really know our gaps. Take a look at some of the presentations the AD did when we first announced the move to the CAA…he had some good slides that showed those gaps. Our problems were not the number of scholarships offered or number of coaches we had. The true gap was in staff and athletic administrators. Think about the issues that have plagued HBCUs over the years…compliance, weight training, sports information, nutrition, facilities management. Sure we were putting teams on the field…and got lucky when we took out a PWI here and there, but the record speaks for itself. We didn’t consistently win…even when we had better athletes. It’s was because at our core the foundation of our programs were weak. Time to strengthen from the inside out. That may mean an overhaul in some programs…others may require a complete rebuild…but it must be done. We must position our program to compete with anyone on our level…not just HBCUs, but anyone. That doesn’t make NCAT less of an HBCUs…but a better one.

The timing couldn’t have been worse though, I’m deep into the world of sports media/graphics & Ive never seen a walk-on tryout post during the actual regular season (I’m super aware of the the tryouts commencing though, unlike a lot of folks), and it being after a loss was worse. And also having the context of how tone deaf A&T sports communications is added a deeper punch to the gut for me personally, it’s like they’re in their own world 90% of the time

one of the numerous things we need to fix.
But obviously, and unfortunately, our greatest recruiting need is the thing we're having the most trouble recruiting.
Go figure.

And in a way, throwing up a big sign that Stony Brook is just as bad as what we did, if not worse. I'm looking at it as worse.
