So yeah... The Gauntlet begins. I've always felt that this one was getable for us. This stretch (Villanova, Delaware, Richmond) will let us know how far we'll need to go in order to truly compete in the CAA year in and year out. Last year, they finished 6-5 and underperformed in the conference. This year, they appear to be doing the same thing, despite the experience on the team.Β One thing of note: They fumbled the ball 9 times and lost 4 of them. They can and will turn the ball over. That's something we need to exploit, IMHO. villanova.com/sports/football/stats/2023 - Villanova 2023 stats. If we can not beat ourselves, especially on Special Teams, anything is possible on Saturday.

All games are winnable going in ,it 50-50 for me that is . All I want to see is execution and effort the rest will take care of itself.

I'm hoping that their weaknesses with not being a downhill run team, and not being able to stop the run plays to our favor. We will see just how good our secondary is this week, as this will be a true spread offense.

That said, if we are going to play in this league, this is a game we've got to win. We appear to have solved our QB issue so now let's find a way to get our receivers in the game. Let's hope we keep improving.

That said, I'm not saying it's a given that we'll beat them. Just that it looks more winnable than what it looked like before the season started. Related to Villanova, the Ulbany team looks better than some/many expected so it might mean Villanova is still a very good team...doubtful they'll have 5 TOs again (2 INTs & 3 fumbles). We're gonna have to play ball.

For those curious, here are their game notes from the UAlbany game. It appears their base is a 3-3-5 and only one kid on their DL 2-Deep is 300+. It seems they're going to use a lot of movement and blitzing to try and neutralize our scheme. Discipline will be key here.

We are mysterious. Been that. Please donβt let us start to get quick strikes like when we had Tarik.
Open up the playbook and letβs protect our House.

Quick strikes are fine but remmber it hurts you defensive unit when they have to come right back on the field . You don't want to get into a shootout with a tired defense especially right now . For me I prefer to set a team up ,move the ball control the clock and if we break one cool , but let the D rest . Don't get itt twisted the quick score is cool ,that's what you kick and punt returns are for in my opinion.

I'm hoping that their weaknesses with not being a downhill run team, and not being able to stop the run plays to our favor. We will see just how good our secondary is this week, as this will be a true spread offense. Secondary will be totally ineffective without a pass rush.

True, but we got to the QB a few times last week, and I hope we continue to improve on the defensive front. The issue I saw was our DBs losing sight of the ball on scramble plays, which resulted in Norfolk extending drives. We need to have better eye discipline this week. Also if Harris is hurt, because he was hobbling at the end of the game, that puts us at a disadvantage.
