Secondary will be totally ineffective without a pass rush. True, but we got to the QB a few times last week, and I hope we continue to improve on the defensive front. The issue I saw was our DBs losing sight of the ball on scramble plays, which resulted in Norfolk extending drives. We need to have better I discipline this week. Also if Harris is hurt, because he was hobbling at the end of the game, that puts us at a disadvantage. One thing 'Nova's QB can do is scramble and extend plays.

It will be interesting based on a scheme standpoint for me. Teams that pass well was an Achilles' heel for Washington's defenses in the past. I'm wondering how Brown and JZ schemes for these types of teams. I know we play more man to man this year which is a little new, but can we get to the QB by mixing it up will be key.

What makes this a promotion if ticket prices are the same?

They aren't promoting cheaper tickets, they are promoting the health services that are being provided.

So yeah... The Gauntlet begins. I've always felt that this one was getable for us. This stretch (Villanova, Delaware, Richmond) will let us know how far we'll need to go in order to truly compete in the CAA year in and year out. Last year, they finished 6-5 and underperformed in the conference. This year, they appear to be doing the same thing, despite the experience on the team. One thing of note: They fumbled the ball 9 times and lost 4 of them. They can and will turn the ball over. That's something we need to exploit, IMHO. villanova.com/sports/football/stats/2023 - Villanova 2023 stats. If we can not beat ourselves, especially on Special Teams, anything is possible on Saturday. One game at a time, but Richmond is not that good either.

The CAA is down this year. A number of teams are being exposed.

The CAA is down this year. A number of teams are being exposed. I don't think that the league is down but I do think that teams in the CAA and teams that have defeated CAA teams have gotten better. This is not Pop Warner football the D1 football landscape is an ever Changing process year in and out and also is a any given Saturday type of format when you have talented players.

For those curious, here are their game notes from the UAlbany game. It appears their base is a 3-3-5 and only one kid on their DL 2-Deep is 300+. It seems they're going to use a lot of movement and blitzing to try and neutralize our scheme. Discipline will be key here. Apparently this 3-3-5 thing is taking over football

All these nimble and quick tacklers flying all over the field. Then we got gouged, punished up front and slaughter-ruled by the best team in the league. Won the rest of our games by going back to a 4-3. Never again, LOL.

I would use different versions depending on the situation..i.e 3-4-4 or 4-4-3 with my wideside DE given the option to flow back into coverage in the passing lanes depending on the formation and his read keys . But the key is the NT he has to be able to draw the double team an control 2&3 along with pushing the pocket . The 3-5 is the new flavor of the day but you have to have the right talent . We are just missing that one piece the dominant nose tackle. In saying that we looked a lot better in the traditional 43 . I think if we come out the gate controlling the Run and I don't mean stacking the Box, make them one-dimensional because we know the pass is there strong point and their quarterback likes to throw deep so the defensive backs should be prepared. This is a winnable game it's just up to us to win it.
