Jah ain't our only athlete to disparage the move. See one Tarik Cohen.
Though Jah said he went to Coastal to be near family, which I believe, I wonder if he would have chosen an HBCU that was of equal distance as Coastal, after he saw all those facilities, amenities, etc. Coastal had over the HBCU.
Also, I'm almost certain Tarik would have gone to ECU, had they offered, as opposed to us.

If anything given the current climate and the current state of the school, we appear to be looking to fill a slot for academically talented kids that normally wouldn't give us a sniff and would end up at an Ivy, another CAA school, a Patriot League school, or some other academic powerhouse. That may not lead to us dominating the conference (it won't, really no team does for a long period of time) and it will be problematic for those of us whose egos are stroked by our alma mater's success on the gridiron (present company included). It also means a certain number of our alumni, both athletic and academic, would have never stood a chance to gain admittance in this new Ayantee. I'm admittedly one of those individuals. Whether we, Maine, or anybody else wants to admit it, the Supremes just made it VITAL that Ayantee continue on its current trajectory. Not every "watered-down" Black kid wants to go to a school that only competes in a vacuum with other Black schools. We have a niche to fill. We're not filling it worth a damn right now but eventually we will realize the financial backing it will take to get there. As far as the actual topic, I don't know if Maine was trying to be funny or if he really thought it was Townsend. Either way, homecoming has already sold out for the umpteenth year in a row despite the hard feelings any number of alumni have. I'm willing to bet he will be in Greensboro that weekend regardless, and he won't visit Coastal at all. Please don't even start this conversation especially pertaining to athletes because it's not factual or true . Most talented Students choose the institutions based on their social economic and educational needs athletics is know different. We will get the right athletes & students that can produce on the field and in the classroom. The coaches will just have to earn their money by actually coaching these athletes up . A lot of individuals from our era would not qualify for admission to most universities in this era that why you have progress . A&T will get the students that prefer to attend A&T or an HBCU and the ones that don't will attend the PWI of there choice it's that simple , that ruling will not change a thing for HBCU's . Also a college degree does not define a individuals ability to be successful in life, that is the individuals job . "What is an authentic of genuine black person? What are those characteristics?" WTF is that even about along with watered-down BS . Why do we continue to be our own worst enemy. So Jah made a statement that is only his opinion which he is entitled to, what's the big deal ? It's not a issue unless individuals make it one . Also A&T could have achieved R1 Carnegie which has nothing to do with athletics and the two should not be included in the same conversation , without moving conference. It just looks better on paper I call it the George George Jefferson theory of inclusion 😆🤣😂

I'm with Jah on this one. I felt like this since all the way back when I worked at HU and they left the MEAC. Didn't like it then, still don't like it. But we're clearly not going back so it is what it is at this point. I know I'm gonna get heat from some of y'all for this but IDGAD, I've always felt like the constant black obsession to always seek approval/validation from white folks is what has hindered us more recently than those same white folks that don't want us there in the first place. They dangled a check in our face and we sold out quicker than a PS5

This was Don Quixote chasing windmills. Everything we are experiencing today stems from Chancellor Martin's desire to add R1 status to his wikipedia page.

Chancellor Martin is too busy riding in the Aggie self driving shuttles through downtown Greensboro to worry about an 0-3 start. There is no downside to A&T becoming a R1 Institution and the added funding that comes with it. If he gets any accolades because of that, they are well worth it.

C'mon now you know some "aggies" don't want to hear about innovation and increased funding for their school. All they want to know is who we play for homecoming, beat up on the Deleware States, and attend the Celebration bowl in December.

I mean, R1 IS more valuable to the school than Athletics. And I am sure there where other routes to pursue that ambition other than joining an athletic conference. In the immortal words of great negro poet Silk the Shocker, "you aint gotta lie to kick it."
