Let's just say some of the departures had more do to with acting on bad advice, egos and attitudes, academic issues and just not willing to follow rules. Dont let his easy-going demeanor lull you to sleep. Ross is a disciplinarian. Not a tyrant by any measure, but he made it very clear that he is going to hold his players accountable for what they do not only both on and off the court but especially in the classroom.
That seems to be the underlying theme with both new hires (Brown & Ross). The directive going forward with this move to the CAA is athletes with high academic standards, more than ever before. I don't think I've ever heard any of our other coaches preaching these requirements classroom first this much before, and I'm not mad at it. I just hope it's not so much an over correct, and it translates to the field/court.
the way i see it, its probably a good thing to at least retain a few veterans given how "young" and "inexperienced" our current roster is. i just wish we could've kept a couple of our bigs...
Me too, but Harry is on his way to Kentucky this week. Good luck to you Aggies for the upcoming season.
i'm happy that Harry found a new home but i wish it was still a&t. he really deserved to play his final season as a full time starter at a&t. personally, i admired his tremendous "loyalty" to our program, he was a "fan favorite" and still has plenty to offer as a basketball player.
but i wish Harry the absolute best! from my viewpoint, he's a really good kid and an even better teammate...
she's the "symbol" of lady aggie basketball excellence. its amber calvin's "show time" in aggieland!! the queen of "no look" passes...
In speaking to our AAF chapter last night, Coach Ross cleared up a lot of rumors and misnomers regarding our roster makeover for this year.
Everyone from last year's team is gone with the exception of Will Felton, Jeremy Robinson and Kyle Duke. They are the only returning scholarship players. There are also two walk-ons being held over from last year
He had 10 scholarships available to him when he took over and 9 have been filled. There is one still out and they are waiting to see if that commitment (European kid) can be finalized within the next week or so.
I was wondering why it was taking Kyle Duke so long to find a team. I saw no news that he had pulled his name out of the transfer portal. Who is the other returning walk-on besides Ahmad Hamilton?
