Yall gotta chill with the constant deconstruction of the English language. Most people here can understand when a statement should be interpreted as literal and when someone is just casually giving their opinion. I hate to tell you, but you do the same thing. See your "deconstruction" of Brick's point about what he likes about the new system. I can cite more. Frankly, I initially asked him how he knew it was a financial hire since that's what he said. He could have come back and said he was told by what he believes to be a credible source. I, probably, would have left it at that. But that's not what he did. He tried to use a second sentence, that refers to a different subject (breaking the bank) to try to fix his issue. As I'll continue to say, use your words and don't try to look like you know somethin/everything that you don't. It's, actually, pretty easy to add/include things like "I believe", "I think", "It's my opinion", "I have a suspicion", etc. It wreaks of trying to make one's self look better than they are, etc. Listen, I understand this has sort of become your schtick over the past few months but it is starting to derail some of the conversations on this board. If you have a legitimate doubt about whether someone is telling the truth or spreading misinformation that's one thing, but to parse every single statement just to play word semantics is not fair to other posters. If you are really seeking clarity in these situations, just go back and re-read the sentence and try to understand the tone in which that person is speaking. That will usually give you a clue.

Asking people to not use definitives (all, know, every, never, etc.) isn't semantics. It's total difference. If I say you're always wrong or you think you know everything, would that be ok with you, or would you just write it off as semantics? Oh, and when I get clues, I typically recognize them.

If I say you're always wrong or you think you know everything, would that be ok with you, or would you just write it off as semantics? Your example would actually be fine here because that is generally how people speak. Thus, I wouldn't have to ask a ton of rhetorical follow-up questions because I would immediately understand the tone of your statement was not to be taken literal. The problem is that you are beginning to antagonize people by asking rhetorical questions over and over again. That is not fair to other posters.

I’m still tripping off how he had soooooo many problems with a post I made.....but somehow he liked the same post that got his pannies in a bunch. You can’t make such satirical irony up any better if you tried...
My intuition tells me....let me rephrase that....I think and believe (no confirmed sources, but a high suspicion) that this will not be the last time A&T-Roy does this foolish and unnecessary exercise again. Frankly, I really don’t see what purpose it serves. It didn’t move the discussion forward. It made the discussion stagnant and got it off tangent.
And to be clear, I respect what he and other posters have to say, even if I disagree with them (and they with me)....but playing word cop within this topic was completely unnecessary.
Getting back on topic....I surmise/suspect/believe/feel that Monte Ross‘s contract is nowhere close near “Pat Kelsey money.” I’m not saying it has to be, but I BELIEVE that this was a major reason that attracted Hilton to him. He’s a decent (not great) coach who will make us somewhat respectable....WITHOUT US HAVING TO BREAK THE BANK.
I’m just VERY CONCERNED his ceiling is not where I personally want it to be, which is to consistently be at/near the top of the CAA standings (ie. Top 3). I would love to be proven wrong, because that would signify we’re consistently a CAA power. That’s all I want. Hopefully, he will deliver....

My concern is that Ross had an average finish of 10th place in the CAA after his first 4 seasons. If he duplicates that pattern here, I dont think Aggie fans will be as patient.
I am also a little puzzled that we are still dragging our feet with making the official announcement. Maybe it is just a normal delay with his background check, but it is somewhat embarrassing to leak the story on Saturday and still not make the official rollout by the following Tuesday.

We can do better all-around. Going back to when Aggie One was talking about cars, if I bought a new car, I'm gonna drive that sucka around the neighborhood so everyone can check out the ride.....I ain't gonna put it in the garage for a week for no one to see....unless it's a hooptie. Is Ross a big body Benz....or an AMC Pacer?

Does anyone know the salary for the new coach? Also, has anyone heard any rumors about the staff? Usually a lot of interviewing and hiring happens at the Final Four.

At this point I am just hoping the leak is still accurate. If we don't hear anything official by this Friday, I am going to be seriously worried.

I was ok with it and your position, but wanted to know how you knew it was a financial hire. Now that I know you didn't really know, I've removed my like!
