we need a "home-n-home" with howard univerity!! bump towson and georgetown, that's not who our dmv alums would want to see. plus, we just don't play well against morgan state for some reason. i wouldn't schedule morgan either...

Then, they'll pay the $100k. This will open up a home game, since we were supposed to travel up there in 2022. Give Winston or Fayetteville State a call. We could use a win and an additional HBCU home game on the schedule. Pretty safe assumption if Monmouth does follow through on the move. Since we'll only have five conference games that gives us at least six non-conference opponents. We have NCCU, Norfolk, NDSU officially set for next year leaving three slots open. My guess would be SCSU quickly becomes a traditional game for us again as in past years. The other two slots would up for debate - a possible HBCU classic, an in-state D-2 (CIAA), or another FBS pay day now all come into play. Don’t forget the annual ASUN Big South Challenge, both conferences agreed for each conf school to play each other annually.

If Monmouth leaves will the Big South loose its automatic qualifier for the playoffs?

Even when Kennesaw State and North Alabama leave the Big South, the partnership between the two conferences will continue in 2022. They are in initial talks for an event called the ASUN-Big South Challenge where teams would compete on the final day of the regular season. Matchups would be determined in the middle of the season. Yes. The NCAA mandated minimum is 6 football paying members to retain/keep/earn an AQ into the playoffs. As of this typing, the Southland and Mid-Eastern conferences are right at 6 football-playing schools. The Ohio Valley has 7 football schools but will be down to 5 after the 2022 season. IF Monmouth leaves prior to this fall, the Big South would be down to 6.
It is a near certainty that more realignment is on the way...

Then, they'll pay the $100k. It may even be less because they are not a full member.

That has me curious. I wonder how many of our alums would make a trip to Towson or Georgetown to see us play. We definitely should be looking on the map and playing games against teams near where our greatest concentration of alums are, i.e. DC, Atlanta, Charlotte, and wherever else. Monmouth is interesting. They were a junior college until the mid-50s. They're endowment is just over 100 million which is behind ours. Other than location I'd say they don't really fit the CAA profile all that much. but for that matter I guess neither does Towson.

Now it seems that it's US, Charleston Southern and that dreaded Hampton. The 3rd place tied Warriors. Man, this Conference should be ours! ( with Kenn, Mon and N Ala gone. weird stuff.

If all of the rumors happen: -10
Campbell, Hampton, Kennesaw, UNA, and Monmouth are gone. That leaves A&T, Gardner-Webb, Charleston Southern, and Robert Morris. Robert Morris would have no reason to hang around because they are football only. That would mean football is dead in the Big South without three new members.
1. Will the Big South drop football entirely and to focus on basketball as their strategic plan alludes? 2. Does A&T, CSU, and Gardner-Webb stay in the Big South and become a football affiliate in the MEAC or the Southern Conference? 3. Will the MEAC or the Southern Conference go after A&T and Gardner-Webb as full time members? 4. Since Campbell and Hampton are full time members, will the Big South replace them with basketball schools? 5. Will the MEAC and Big South merge across all sports? 6. How important is football to A&T?
