Anyone know the process or requirements to create a new Conference? If these rumors hold true, you have 5 schools that would have left the MEAC. What was stopping them from coming together to create a new conference? Howard, Hampton, Norfolk, A&T,NCCU, throw in SCSU, and maybe I'm being naive, but is there not 4 PWIs they could have convinced to join? That would give you 10.

The belief that they could come in and be the top dogs from the jump. Schools that are consistently in the middle of the pack or even bottom feeders of a PWI conference, would assume they could dominate a conference full of HBCUs, be the ones getting those automatic bids each year. But like I said, maybe I'm being naive. You don't think there's any scenario where PWIs would joing a predominantely HBCU conference, or just not that mix of HBCUs?

What's the difference between that and the MEAC and Big South merging for football only.

What's the difference between that and the MEAC and Big South merging for football only. Actually not at all far fetched if Howard does indeed bolt. Like I said earlier some kind of major realignment among those 3 conferences (MEAC, Big South, CAA) will be forthcoming very soon - probably by early January.

What's the difference between that and the MEAC and Big South merging for football only. The automatic bid is the only issue

Those HBCUs want to participate in the celebration bowl, additionally the MEAC seems to make decisions focused around saving money versus what’s best for athletic competition.

These PWI conferences are not stable. The CAA is where the Big South was before Hampton, us, and RMU joined. Who are the full time members of the CAA? If they do add Howard and Hampton, what’s to stop Elon, Richmond, and CoC from leaving and joining the SoCon?

Right now, it seems there's internal jostling between the CAA and SoCon as far as members. Currently, the SoCon doesn't have any associate members for football and is the higher-ranked Men's Basketball conference. The key in all of this will be UNCG, IMHO. Either way, the CAA is prepared to pull away members from the Big South and/or MEAC.

My predictions (FB only):
BSC - A&T & Hampton remain, Monmonth exits to the CAA, Central is extended an invitation CAA - JMU leaves (announced), Elon & COC leaves for BS, Norfolk to the CAA MAAC/NEC - Howard leaves, all other remain but Monmonth may join also, Morgan is a possibility MEAC - Folds as a conference, Steat to SWAC or D2 OVC - Tennesse State is in a world of hurt with not many options......sad situation

Those are some bold predictions. What will be the big trigger for this avalanche of events?

Those are some bold predictions. What will be the big trigger for this avalanche of events? These other PWCs will come knocking....not many other options of moving PWI D2 schools to D1, too expensive!
