I think kickoff time played a big role in attendance. Kickoff should never be before 3 for any game before GHOE. We had a deal for youth teams but many are playing during that time. More casual fans will show up for later games. We are in a new conference that has a TV package. The conference and ESPN determine the kickoff , not A&T This needs to be investigated. We do not have a tv package. We are playing our games online it’s not on broadcast tv. It’s streamed and that does not constitute having a said time. They are not interrupting anything if they play at 1 or 5. The only way you have to worry about time slots is if you are playing on a channel. That is not the case so I don’t think it’s the case we have to follow by any certain time rules. Further more just about all of games are being played at the same time. It’s not like they are staggering them so everyone can click the link at different times. ESPM just provides the space we provide the broadcast with our equipment and our announcers. ESPN could care less when we do it. I am not necessarily against the covid restrictions but it is 100% the reason you saw NCCU not a full capacity and this last game only have 30% attendance. I will say that the State, City, and County hires the best emergency management professionals there are. They went to college, grad school, and countless seminars and trainings to deal with exactly this. If they thought we needed restrictions they would say so just like they have done in the past. They are not requiring it and no other school in the state has the restrictions we have. If it were me I would have just deferred to the professionals. The city has had the folk festival, boys 2 men, Earth Wind and Fire, the urban legends hip hop concert among many other events both indoors and outdoors that rival or exceed our attendance. You heard nothing from them or the governor to restrict these events. A&T made the conscience decision to go rogue and outside the protocols of health officials. Whether right or wrong the powers to be had to know it would effect attendance. Black people are the least vaccinated. So it is what it is.

I don't know how the time schedule for games work but I can tell you the required for covid vaccine is greatly appreciated. If there were long lines to get your vaccine armbands, I would be the first to complain but that's working smooth. I realize getting unvaccinated kids tested is a hassle. I don't think there are thousands of parents staying home from our games because of that requirement. I'm sure there are some.
As I suggested in another thread, high ticket prices have big impact on attendance. We also need to improve the game day experience before and after the game for non alums.

All of these other places you mention don't have to worry about parents wanting their kids to be safe in school, placing that responsibility on A&T, warranted or not.

I don’t disagree. But to be clear everyone is still taking a risk. Vaccinated people can still carry and get sick. And how many students took the rapid result test on a wed or Thursday to get in the came before NCCU and then partied like a rock star on Friday night. The way we are doing it still presents risk. It only minimizes the risk marginally which is why health officials have not endorsed it.
Having said that i believe covid restrictions is a small right now problem. I attribute 15-20% of this on that. We have always had this problem. Be it Robert Morris or Delaware St we can’t fill a stadium unless it NCCU or homecoming. And with our record it is dismal to keep having this problem. There are many many reasons why, lack of culture being the biggest one.
And no parents don’t have to worry about those events but the parents at 65k seat Carter Finley stadium sold out rushing the field do, UNC chapel hill, App State, NCCU, and all other schools that are playing on Saturday like we are.

... lack of culture being the biggest one. Explain. Probably that our games are kinda boring...Yes we win, but alot of students that attend don't watch football. They want the experience (Band/crowd participation/music/giveaways)

Rapid tests are an option I’ve used them the last two games. And the students get them right on campus in the alumni center. The faculty and students can. Get rapid tests there for free but alumni and fans cannot. I tried to get my nephew to get one there but he was not eligible.
The tests have to be rapid according to the protocol. It is required 72hoirs im advance of the game. The regular pcr test take 3 days to come back. So if you get one of those you won’t have your results in time for the game. So 95% of the covid negative tests are rapid. And you can trust all of the students are.
*by the way if you are uninsured you can get a pcr covid test for free but a rapid test will cost you $140 at Walgreens or Emergicares, as there are strict protocols who can get rapid tests for free under the cares act.

They want the experience (Band/crowd participation/music) The football games are extremely boring. People keep talking about Monmouth coming to GHOE as a big deal. It won’t be because of the crowd. There will be 21,500 non verbal fans in the game. If it’s not an amazing 90 yard run or amazing catch most of the fans don’t even get our their seats for a touchdown. Our game day experience is one of the worst in hbcus Come to any game and you will see that the team literally has to beg us to yell for them. It’s so sad!
