I am guessing that FAMU is next leaving 4 games for the Southern Division.

If FAMU doesn’t play, then the divisions go out the window. Play everyone once and call it a day.

Can we just go to the Big South now? SMH, what’s changed in the last week? It doesn’t make financial sense to play... It doesn’t make cent$ for any FCS or lower program to play any sports unfortunately. However, we’re gonna try.

If I was a betting man, I would wager that no MEAC sports will be played by anyone this spring.
The plan was ridiculous from the start, so I can see this whole thing unraveling pretty quickly.

Speaking of Big South, don’t be surprised if Hampton pulls the plug on their spring sports.

I wouldn't be surprised, but BCU just made life easier from a MEAC mindset. The Southern schools can be like the Northern schools and play each other twice also.

Explain You need dance partners to have a conference schedule. Bethune was the first but I doubt they will be the last MEAC school to opt out. The pandemic is not going anywhere and most of these schools dont have the budget for proper testing and probably wont be able to maintain other COVID safety protocols. My guess is Del State will be the next to pull the plug. Now everyone in the Southern Division is left with a scheduling void, and for us, that means two additional games that we have to find an opponent for. We were only playing four conference teams this spring to begin with so that is a huge loss. And remember: this scheduling void is just not for football, but in men's and women's basketball too.

FYI: Elon is attempting to play a similarly truncated conference schedule:

I see a failure of the MEAC more than anything. BCU opting out or any school should have been addressed upfront. Del State has funds so I can't see them going anywhere

Can we just go to the Big South now? SMH, what’s changed in the last week? Bethune-Cookman shuts down all sports through spring, citing "spike" in COVID-19 casesLast week, the Bethune-Cookman women's basketball team took the court for the first practice of the fall. Now, the Lady Wildcats are shut down for the rest of the season, along with every other team at the school. Late Monday, Bethune-Cookman President Brent Chrite announced that Bethune-Cookman would not participate in any sports through the end of the 2021 spring season, including basketball, softball, baseball, track and field, and football.
