Delaware State University to play Spring Football 2021"With Howard University and South Carolina State University as conference opponents, and our game with the University of Delaware, we are looking at a three to five game season beginning in late February or early March, and ending in April," said Delaware State University Athletics Director, Dr. David S. Gines. Head Coach Rod Milstead reported that his players were excited by the opportunity to play, no matter the weather challenges or sticking to COVID-19 safety protocols. "These young men have done everything we've asked of them and more," Milstead said. "I met with them this morning, and general cheering broke out when I told them we still had a shot at a season." "As we move forward we will continue to make decisions based in the best interest of student-athletes' health and safety." According to university medical officials, the Bulldog teams will continue a rigorous testing regimen to help keep the student-athletes and coaching staff healthy. "SC State University's student-athletes undergo regular COVID-19 testing weekly," said Craig Harward, director of sports medicine. "As of today, the football team has zero positive tests." Well it looks like the MEAC has totally lost control! Not like they've ever had control of anything. Maybe we should "pretend" we're going to play as an independent too just to allow the players to get in a few more practice sessions. Naw, let's stay healthy for our fall debut.

It would have been tainted anyway. Are you really gonna brag about winning a MEAC championship when you just had to beat NSU twice, SC State twice and one of the scrub teams from the Northern division? It was never about our ability to compete for a title. It was just a way to appease the players and coaches for not having a fall season. Central bragged about winning the Meac basketball championship when Covid first pulled up and at the time had only won one game in the tournament. So why we couldn’t brag about beating 2 teams twice and a 3rd for a championship? lol.
