It needs to be corrected.....I will bring it up at the AAF meeting tonight. I don't care if we're running and gunning or playing the 4-corners.....barely shooting 50-60% as a team from the line is inexcusable. I don't want to hear excuses, hypotheses, theorems, postulations, etc. on why that is. CORRECT IT!! If not, we will be summarily dismissed in the MEAC tournament. If there are 3 minutes left in a game and you are playing us, there's simply no way you don't go to a "Hack-a-Kam" approach. The ball is in his hands for well over 50% of each possession. I'm not picking on the young brotha - I said my peace already.....HE NEEDS TO BE MEAC PLAYER OF THE YEAR. With that being said, he has a flaw in his game that can prove fatal come postseason time....and that's his FREE THROW SHOOTING! If opposing teams ain't fouling him in a tight game in Norfolk, their coaching staff needs to be called to the carpet. Just calling them as I see them.... Radford lost to UNCG and Liberty at a combined 8 points, Winthrop lost to Radford - 6 points Gardnerwebb lost to Radford by 3 and Winthrop by 4 Unless these teams can’t defend a running team, we will die by free throw%! Our former MEAC foe Hampton is in 5 th place by the skin of their teeth in this league, Jones needs to understand he’s no longer playing Black College basketball after this season!

Hey let's finish this season and MEAC tournament before we start worrying about the Big South. I agree we'll see a different opponent in the Big South but I'm convinced Coach Jones will have us ready...when it's time.

Im rooting hard for Jones regardless gotta remember, coach cy had a team loaded with eaves "seniors". off the top of my head, i believe cy had like 7 or 8 experienced seniors that eaves left for him which gave him an advantage. whereas coach jones doesn't have a senior loaded team, he'll have far better talent returning next year than coach cy had the following year... We will be a bad free throw shooting team for the next 20 years unless we bring in a specialist who can teach proper mechanics. trust me, though mechanics are indeed important, great mechanics "alone" won't fix poor free throw shooting. sometimes we over simplify stuff, we want a one fix solution to everything. but everybody on the team doesn't have poor mechanics, yet the team as a whole shoots free throws poorly. there are guys who have the most beautiful mechanics on the face of the planet, but you can't pay them a million bucks to shoot high percentage free throws. there was a time when russell westbrook only made 60% of his free throws and there's nothing wrong with his mechanics. then on the other hand, you've got guys like a jamaal wilkes who had the "ugliest" mechanics in the universe who made darn near 80% of his free throws and never shot below 70% ever in his nba career. kevin durant's mechanics aren't picture perfect either, but he's an outstanding shooter nonetheless who converts almost 90% of his free throws. look at the picture, his elbow ain't straight and he's almost blocking his vision with his shooting hand. so i don't think you can isolate only one aspect of free throw shooting to fix overall poor free throw shooting. in a full court game, mechanics are important for sure but so is conditioning and as frisco correctly stated, a lot of free throw shooting is "mental". that's why some guys are more reliable converting free throws while "under pressure" when the game is on the line than others, its all "mental". i don't know for sure what ails our team's free throw shooting, but i'd be willing to bet that its a combination of things rather than mechanics alone. me personally, i'm inclined to believe that our style of play is a major contributor. not only because of our "uptempo" style, but also because coach jones "demands" that our guys "defend" which they do quite well. but the only problem with defending is that it also taxes your "legs" because you play defense primarily with your "legs". couple that with 40 minutes of uptempo transition basketball? hence, that is my concern... Basic physics. It is the same principles in all sports, from throwing a football to throwing a baseball. The faster the ball spins to a target, the more it is prone to stay on a straight path. That is why a fastball moves around less in the air than a knuckleball does. BTW: If we had proper shooting form, fatigue would not affect our free throw shooting because our motion would already be shorter and would not require a lot of power from our core and legs. You want as little movement in your shooting form as possible so you can replicate those mechanics over and over again. Trust me: it is not mental. It is 100 percent mechanical and 100 percent fixable.

Noted, but we get excited about the hype and excitement, the show, feelings, PWI’s play strategic basketball we are not going to go anywhere thinking we are going to Phi Slamma Jamma our way through the next league! Good defenses are going to shut that down! I’ve seen High School play books more advanced than ours, Numbers don’t lie, look at the wins and loses and strategy of the last 4 seasons! I’m sorry but I don’t think Jones, has the strategic mind or developmental skills! Someone stated in another post that we don’t need a P5 coach to build a winning program! You get what you pay for! Broadway was a P10 Coach, Ross Coached at Clemson, are these coincidences?

It is 100 percent mechanical and 100 percent fixable. You are right about the mental part because, you should do the same thing each time at the free throw line. I talking in terms of motion (body), focus-form and follow through. When you see a free throw shooter with no form and follow through, there's no telling what you will get. That's what I see in Kam, no follow through and form. He needs to get that first then, focus on body motion.

Broadway was a P10 Coach, Ross Coached at Clemson, are these coincidences? hey bseball, you got something against hbcu coaches? our last two p5 coaches at a&t were curtis hunter and jerry eaves. you wanna go down that road again? the best 2 current meac coaches (moton and jones) have never coached a single day at a p5 school. david six, hampton's women's basketball coach, has never coached a single day at a p5 school. yet the lady pirates are currently in 2nd place in the bsc standings and it didn't take a p5 coach to do so. yes, broadway was a former p5 coach but coach washington wasn't. coach washington's entire coaching career has been at hbcu's, yet he's had about as much success at a&t as coach broadway did. coach pat bibbs didn't have a pwc background, nor did don corbett who are arguably a&t's all time greatest women's and men's basketball coaches in a&t history, respectively. again, compare hunter and eaves records to coach jones record? jones wins by a mile. howard's coach played under coach "k" at duke with coaching stints at several pwc's including harvard, columbia, st. bonaventure, la salle, james madison, marshall, and delaware. but guess what? he's only won 1 meac game all season and is in "last place" of the meac. eric skeeters, dsu head coach. formerly an assistant at virginia tech, youngstown state, south florida, george mason, and towson. his team is next to last in the meac. jason crafton, head coach of umes. formerly an assistant at villanova, navy, and delaware. coach jones crushed his team twice and they're 1 notch above dsu in the standings. juan dixon, head coach of coppin state. p5 maryland terp grad, played and coached at maryland, and played 7 years in the nba. upset ecu this year and we loss to him but it was "on the road". however, juan's team is in 7th place in the meac even though he has that brand new basketball arena. morgan state's coach, kevin broadus. he's a bowie state grad but he was an assistant for the maryland terps and also the georgetown hoyas, but coach jones beat him on his home court "at morgan state" and morgan is currently in 6th place behind us. yet, did i mention that coach jones' team is currently in "1st place" and he beat every coach in the meac (including moton) at least once except dixon? man, just because somebody played and/or coached at a p5 school don't make them no better than hbcu coaches. 80% of winning is about "talent", not coaching. i'll give the other 20% to coaching. you say coach jones can't phi slamma jamma his way thru the next league? well, the original phi slamma jamma did it all the way to the ncaa finals and would've won it all had it not been for nc state's upset. so i disagree that coach jones can't phi slamma jamma his way thru the next league. just like the original phi slamma jamma, if you have the "talent" to do so, you can phi slamma jamma your way thru any league you want to...

Major question is the status of Kwe Parker's ankle. He back out to floor with street clothes after landing awkwardly following a block. As Turk statednhe is one of the Aggies better on ball defenders and to me offensively could be and x-factor during tournament play. Defensively you have to respect his outside shooting (surprisingly one the Aggies more consistent 3-pt shooters this season)as well as athleticism going to the rack (dunk-yard-dogs). Hopefully he just needs a couple days, if not hope he can go next week. So...does anybody know Kwe Parker’s status for tomorrow night?

Coach said at the AAF last night that it's an ankle issue.....but he will play tomorrow night vs Central. His minutes may be limited though..
